Chapter 1072: Killing the donkey

The green-skinned man was all talk and no action; he portrayed the Reach as a race yearning for peace and desperately seeking redemption.

Anyway, Yang Le didn't believe it. Kara and Garfield were another matter, but Mary, like Yang Le, didn't believe that the Zerg of the Reach were good people.

There was no way around it; the impression the Canned Food King left on her was just too bad. She didn't know much about these strangely shaped aliens now, unless they were as beautiful as Kara.

"And I am the special envoy sent by the Reach to support Earth." The Reacher bowed slightly, seemingly having learned some Earth culture. "Please address me as the special envoy."

"So, Your Excellency, are you preparing to travel to Earth?" Yang Le asked, raising an eyebrow.

“That’s exactly what I was thinking, Mr. Yang.” The envoy nodded. “To be honest, we sponsored the Canned King not long ago, but at that time, our Zhiyuan Zerg had not interfered in outside affairs for a hundred years, so we did not know what kind of person he was.”

"At the time, he told us that he was a zoologist who protected rare animals in the universe. During his travels, he was robbed by space pirates. Not only was his spaceship lost, but he was also severely beaten."

"Out of pity, we helped the Canned Food King rebuild his spaceship, the one Mr. Yang is piloting now. We never expected that we would be deceived by him."

The envoy waved his hand angrily as he finished speaking.

"We only recently discovered the true identity of the Canned Food King, which is why we rushed back to retrieve the spaceship. We never expected to run into several of them here."

The envoy spoke with great emotion and eloquence. If Yang Le hadn't seen the Canned Food King's memories beforehand and combined them with some precognitive abilities, he might very well have believed him.

However, it was a good idea for the special envoy to openly and frankly declare his relationship with the King of Canned Food; it was far better than being exposed later.

After all, Yang Le has now taken over the Canned Food King's spaceship, which means that the former is now the latter's prisoner, and no one can be sure what Yang Le knows now.

Perhaps Canned King has already told Yang Le about the Zerg in the Reach, so he might as well bring it up himself.

The reason the special envoy dared to be so bold was because he really hadn't instructed the Canned King to do anything; he had simply asked the latter to keep an eye on some news from Earth.

That's why the special envoy felt there was room for negotiation; he really didn't want to expose the hidden combat fleet unless absolutely necessary.

After all, who knows if there are any Green Lanterns strolling around nearby? These cosmic police have lived like Parademons for over a hundred years. If they see their battle fleet, the good image that the Reach Zerg have built up over the past decade will crumble in an instant.

They have already quietly conquered several planets using this 'mutual assistance' strategy. This bloodless method of conquest has given the Reach Zerg a taste of success, and they are really unwilling to give up easily.

According to the original plan, it would have taken some time for the Zerg of the Reach to make contact with Earth, because their ally, the Illuminati, had not yet transferred the main force of the Justice League away from Earth as planned.

However, this idiot, Canned King, has now forced them to expose themselves. The envoy has recognized that the human child standing in the corner, whose skin color is similar to his own, is a member of an organization under the Justice League.

That means the group in front of us is very likely connected to the Justice League, so we can't use firepower directly.

According to the information provided by the Illuminati, the Justice League superheroes are quite peculiar, and it's unclear whether they have any communication devices to transmit information back to Earth. If they were to reveal their true colors now, all their efforts would be in vain. Therefore, the envoy's smile softened further, and he said, "This is our mistake. How about this: although we, the Reach, abhor violence, still need weapons for self-defense when navigating the vast universe."

"Although our fleet only has a few cannons, it can still serve as your escort. Let us safely transport you to Earth. As for this spaceship, we will give it to you as an apology."

"Why would I need something from you?" Yang Le subtly rolled her eyes. "I found it, so it's mine."

"Thank you very much, Special Envoy." Yang Le replied with a smile. "With you experts in space travel escorting me, I can finally get a good night's sleep. To be honest, Special Envoy, I'm exhausted."

“Of course, of course,” the envoy waved. “This is, after all, our fault.”

Immediately afterward, Yang Le and the special envoy exchanged compliments before hanging up the communication.

"So, the Zerg of Reach are really good people?" Garfield was completely bewildered, clearly having been misled.

But that's normal. He's not even ten years old, so it's normal for him to be fooled by the cunning Zerg of Reach. Kara, on the other hand, also looked suspicious, as if she was wondering if what she heard on Krypton was outdated.

"Instead of believing they are good people, you might as well believe I am the Emperor sitting on a golden toilet, and then VIP me 50."

Yang Le rolled his eyes and said, "Garrfield, your punishment is to go back and copy down the records of how the official members of the Justice League were deceived by the reformed villains. Remember, I want it copied by hand."

"Ah!?" Garfield was even more confused. "No!"

“I don’t understand,” Kara said, looking puzzled. “If you don’t trust the Reach, why did you bring them to Earth instead of calling on your companions to fight back?”

“You’re still too young, Kara.” Yang Le said in a presumptuous tone. “Since the Reach Zerg haven’t attacked us directly, it means they don’t really want to use force, or they have some reservations about using force.”

"If they acted this way when they saw only four of us, then they would be even less likely to use force on Earth, at least openly."

"In my opinion, they are definitely up to something bad, but they certainly won't do it openly. Instead, they will do it under the guise of mutual help."

"So, if the Earthlings want to believe that they are truly here to help them, the Reach Zerg must offer something good. In that case, why don't we do it?"

At this point, Yang Le revealed a smile that resembled that of a villain in a children's cartoon who had successfully pulled off a plot, and said.

"Hehehe, when the time comes, we'll first devour the Reach Zerg, then kick them aside. That's what you call killing the donkey after it's done its work, or cooking the dog after the rabbit is caught. It's time to let these cosmic bumpkins know how terrifying Earth is, so that no one will ever want to cause us trouble."
