Chapter 1045 Luther and Connor
Chapter 1045 Luther and Connor
"Although you only have half Kryptonian DNA, you have all the weaknesses that Kryptonians have."
As Luther spoke, he put the kryptonite he had pulled out back into his pocket. It seemed that his suit was also custom-made, otherwise ordinary fabric would not be able to block the radiation of kryptonite.
After the eerie green light disappeared, Connor gradually felt his strength return to his body. He was panting heavily and was about to stand up when the female bodyguard next to him pressed him to the ground.
With his hands restrained, Connor tried to resist when a dark cannon barrel was pressed against his face, slamming him back to the ground.
"It seems that the Justice League guys didn't pay attention to your character education. They actually raised you to be a bastard who lays a hand on his father."
Luther's words stunned Connor, who was struggling, and he couldn't help but ask.
"Father? What are you talking about?"
“Looks like you didn’t inherit my brains.” Luther tapped his bald head. “You’re a hybrid of Earthling and Kryptonian, and through scientific blending, you have half Earthling genes and half Kryptonian genes in your body.”
"Would you like to guess who provided the half of your Earthling genes?"
"It's you?" Connor exclaimed in shock.
“That’s right, it’s me.” Luther snapped his fingers, and the female bodyguard released her grip on Connor, standing respectfully beside Luther once again, as emotionless as a real machine.
It looks even more like a robot than a red tornado.
Connor muttered to himself as he rubbed his wrist and stood up. The female bodyguard was no joke; she was one of the strongest he had ever faced. He guessed she was a cyborg targeting Kryptonians.
Before Connor could fully stand up, the box containing the Aegis was once again presented to him. Just as he was about to refuse, Luther spoke again.
"Take it, consider it a gift from your father."
Connor frowned. He disliked Luther's condescending attitude; his tone was definitely not that of a father speaking to his son, but more like that of a scientist addressing his electronic dog.
Connor didn't want to accept Luthor's gift and was about to refuse, but then he suddenly thought that giving it to the Justice League might reveal something, so he reached out and took it.
“That’s more like it.” Luther patted Connor on the shoulder enthusiastically. “If you don’t accept this gift, I really don’t know how to ask you for help.”
"Help you?" Connor raised an eyebrow. "Are you kidding me?"
“I knew you’d say that.” Luther clapped his hands, and at that moment, the female bodyguard walked over carrying a tablet.
Connor frowned when he saw the content on the tablet, because it was playing a video of himself, sleeping in an incubation pod.
“You look a lot like you, don’t you? But unfortunately, you’re not.” Luther could tell from Connor’s expression that he had misunderstood, so he immediately explained.
"You know, cloning is a very profound technology. Even before I cloned you, I failed many times."
"What about the clones that came before me?"
“Of course I disposed of it.” Luther said casually, as if he weren’t talking about life, but about eating a few slices of bread. This attitude made Connor even more dissatisfied with him. “You are the only truly successful clone I have, but before you there was a half-finished product, the one in the picture, which I call ‘Peerless’.”
As Luther finished speaking, the image on the tablet changed, displaying data about a clone called "Peerless".
“The biggest difference between you and Pidgey is that he has nearly 90% Kryptonian DNA in his body. However, due to a data error in the experiment, Pidgey’s brain cannot process knowledge very well.”
"Simply put, the clone was basically out of control. Such a clone would normally be destroyed, but because I took pity on him, I kept him and moved him to another location."
Connor found it extremely ironic that the word "compassion" came from Luther's mouth.
What exactly are you trying to say?
"Don't rush, we're about to get to the important part." Luther sighed, seemingly quite disgusted with Connor.
“I moved the enemy to another base, and because of the previous world separation, the enemy was left unattended for more than ten hours, which directly caused the containment of the enemy to fail.”
“Although I have forcibly shut down that base, it’s only a matter of time before Pidi escapes. I need you to help me deal with him.”
“Don’t be so quick to refuse,” Luther stopped Connor from speaking. “I know you want to report this to the Justice League, but you can think about what happened to Bizarro before you make any plans.”
Connor was stunned. He had heard of the name Bizarro before. The latter's real name was B-0, the first Superman clone created by Luthor. Due to imperfect technology and special circumstances, Bizarro turned into a low-intelligence beast.
Bizarro was ultimately killed by Superman because he lost control, and the current situation is quite similar to that of the other.
“If Batman knew, guess how he would fight him?” Luthor continued to entice. “That’s a monster almost as powerful as Superman. The most likely outcome is that he’ll be dealt with.”
"But if you take down Pidgey alone, the outcome is uncertain. After all, everyone knows you only have half the strength of Superman. If you use S.H.I.E.L.D. to defeat Pidgey, the Justice League will reassess Pidgey's strength, and he might survive."
Connor thought for a moment, then finally nodded and said.
"Tell me where he is?"
“That’s a good son of mine,” Luther said, pulling out a phone. “This has the base’s location recorded on it. I’m looking forward to seeing how you perform.”
Connor took the phone, and before he could speak, he heard Luther say something that was unclear.
"The Red Sun".
When Connor came to his senses, he found that there was no one around him. If he hadn't been holding his phone in his left hand and the box containing the Aegis in his right, he would have thought he was dreaming.
"He can crash my computer with just one sentence. What can't he do?"
Connor was dejected. He increasingly felt that he was not a normal person. It seemed that he had escaped the Cadmus Institute and integrated into the Young Justice League, but today Luther taught him a lesson.
Connor never escaped; he remained trapped in that small incubation chamber the entire time. Perhaps if Luther wanted him, he would become an obedient dog.
