Chapter 503 Door-to-Door Delivery
"Are we going to continue the investigation or not? Just tell us!"

After leaving the Beijing Hotel and parting ways with Gao Dongxu and Huang Yanyan, he and Fatty Wang went straight back to the antique shop in Liulichang.

Under the bright, glaring afternoon sun, the bronze vessels gleamed with an eerie light, and the various antiques displayed on the sandalwood shelves gleamed wickedly in the sunlight.

Fatty Wang plopped down in the armchair, which creaked under his weight. He took a sip of tea, looked at Wu Xie who had remained silent, and finally couldn't contain himself any longer; his voice betrayed his impatience.

Wu Xie's fingers unconsciously traced the snake-browed bronze fish on the table. The cold touch of the bronze fish reminded him of Gao Dongxu's unfathomable eyes. "I always feel that Young Master Gao is hiding a lot of crucial information from us." He frowned, his knuckles turning slightly white from the pressure.

"Nonsense!" Fatty Wang slapped his thigh, splashing a few drops of water from his teacup. "Even a fool knows he's hiding something. Who is he? He's the one setting us up! It would be suspicious if he revealed everything!"

He narrowed his small eyes and lowered his voice, saying, "But I'm thinking, what he said is probably just the limit of what he knows. If he knew everything, would he need us to pave the way?"

“Not ‘us,’ it’s me.” Wu Xie suddenly looked up, his gaze fixed intently on Fatty Wang. The sunlight cast a shadow on his face, making him appear particularly somber. “Fatty, this is definitely extremely dangerous. You—” His Adam’s apple bobbed, “You’d better not get involved. Stay and mind your business.”

"Stop! Stop!" Fatty Wang jumped up, slamming his armchair back half a foot with a screeching sound. "You little brat, are you trying to cut off my livelihood?!" His eyes widened, his fat face trembling. "I, Fatty, am a legitimate tomb raider! The treasure trove accumulated by the fourteen generations of the Wan Nu King is right in front of me, and you expect me to cower like a coward?"

He stood with his hands on his hips, fuming, his belly rising and falling with each breath. He knew Wu Xie meant well, but to let him watch his brother risk his life alone? No way! Besides, as a tomb raider, a tomb of the Wan Nu King's caliber was like a gourmet feast—how could he refuse?

"Fine, never mind." Wu Xie forced a bitter smile, but a warm feeling welled up inside him. This fatso, though his mouth reeked of money, his friendship was more genuine than gold. "A guy who'd risk his life for wealth will eventually fall victim to greed."

"Hehe, stop with the nonsense." Fatty Wang rubbed his hands together and leaned closer, his fat face beaming with a fawning smile. "Tell me, where shall we begin?" His small eyes gleamed like a cat smelling fish.

Wu Xie grabbed the Snake-Eyed Bronze Fish and put it in his pocket, his fingertips lightly tracing its scales. "We still need to start with my third uncle," he said in a low voice, "He's definitely seen another Snake-Eyed Bronze Fish."

"Then what are we waiting for!" Fatty Wang slapped his thigh and was about to rush out. "Let's go find our Third Uncle and get some answers—"

"Clang!"

A loud crash interrupted him. The old wooden door of the antique shop was violently kicked open, the door panel slamming heavily against the wall, causing the porcelain on the shelves to clang. Wu Xie and Fatty Wang jumped up simultaneously, looking towards the doorway.

"Damn it! Who's blind?!" Fatty Wang was furious, his face trembling with rage.

Four burly men in black filed in, all wearing sunglasses and black suits, their muscles straining against their clothes. They stood expressionless on either side, ignoring Fatty Wang's angry curses.

Wu Xie grabbed Fatty Wang, who was about to rush forward to argue, and narrowed his eyes warily. Outside the door, a pair of jade-like feet in high heels walked in with elegant steps.

Huo Xiuxiu wore a white suit, the well-tailored fabric accentuating her graceful curves. Beneath her high, straight nose, her red lips were as luscious as roses, the cupid's bow perfectly defined. Her captivating peach blossom eyes remained mesmerizing, the corners slightly upturned, carrying a hint of sharpness. Unlike her alluring demeanor at the New Moon Hotel, she now exuded a commanding presence, her every gesture revealing an undeniable strength.

“Wu Xie,” her voice was clear and cold, like the clinking of jade stones, “my grandmother wants to see you.”

"You should get some more sleep. I have some things to take care of."

In the old Huang family mansion, in Huang Yanyan's boudoir with the curtains tightly drawn, Gao Dongxu, shirtless and wearing only trousers, spoke to Huang Yanyan, whose pretty face was flushed, whose eyes were alluring, and who was only covering her conscience with a bodice.

"Hmm, are you coming over again tonight?" Huang Yanyan asked softly and charmingly, brushing aside the messy strands of hair stuck to her flushed face with her little finger.

Gao Dongxu smiled, reached out and pinched her delicate chin, teasingly saying, "Little vixen, you're already thinking about the next meal after you've just finished eating."

"You're so annoying~~~" Huang Yanyan said coquettishly.

"Hehe, you're a typical example of someone who's bad at the game but has a huge addiction, and you still want to play every single game." Gao Dongxu said jokingly as he picked up his shirt and put it on.

"You're so annoying, I'm ignoring you—" Huang Yanyan was a little embarrassed by the joke. She knew her own shortcomings; she was indeed quite incompetent.

"Hahaha..." Gao Dongxu finished dressing, laughed, bent down and kissed her rosy cheeks, gently coaxing, "Rest well, I'll come to check on you as soon as I have time..."

"Hmph—" Huang Yanyan snorted and turned around abruptly, wrapping her arms around Gao Dongxu's neck and pouting coquettishly, "You're not allowed to say anything bad about other people's food."

"Haha, okay, my Yanyan is not weak at all, not only is she not weak, she's as fierce as a wolf." Gao Dongxu laughed.

"You're so annoying~~~" Huang Yanyan was amused and started to act coquettishly again.

Looking at her rosy and beautiful face, Gao Dongxu couldn't help but kiss her red lips again.

The clothes I just put on were taken off again...

"call--"

Gao Dongxu carefully opened the door and stepped out of the boudoir, letting out a sigh of relief. He added an extra hour to Yanyan's sleep and finally got her to sleep.

Just as he took out his cigarettes and lighter and lit one, Huang Jiao, the head steward of the Huang family, came out from the side room.

"Is everything ready?" Gao Dongxu asked Huang Jiao, who should have logged off but was still alive and well because of his meddling. "Everything is ready. When are we leaving?" Huang Jiao no longer harbored any hostility towards Gao Dongxu. Although he felt sorry for his sister Yan Yan because Gao Dongxu was juggling multiple relationships, he also knew that the Huang family and Yan Yan needed Gao Dongxu's protection.

"Let's go—" Gao Dongxu said, a cigarette dangling from his lips, as he strode outside.

“Pah—”

Gao Dongxu pressed the switch, and in an instant, the entire basement was as bright as day. Huang Jiao's pupils contracted sharply, his mouth involuntarily opened, and even his breath caught in his throat for a moment—

Before me stretched an endless array of display shelves, densely packed with all sorts of funerary objects. The bronzes gleamed with a deep green patina, the jade shimmered with a warm glow under the lights, and the painted pottery remained vibrant and eye-catching. The entire basement was like a miniature museum, each artifact exuding a mysterious aura of time.

“Gudong——”

Huang Jiao swallowed hard, his Adam's apple bobbing violently. His fingers trembled involuntarily, and a fine layer of sweat appeared on his back.

"Aunt, Uncle..." His voice trembled slightly, "Are these all of them?"

Gao Dongxu stood at the boundary of light and shadow, half his face hidden in the shadows. He casually picked up a bronze jue (a type of ancient Chinese wine vessel), his fingertips gently tracing the taotie (a mythical beast) patterns on its surface, and said calmly, "Only a portion. The old man said, no inscriptions, and no oversized pieces." He placed the bronze jue back in its place, the metal clinking together with a crisp "ding." "There are 420 pieces in total. You can count and pack them."

Suppressing his excitement, Huang Jiao rubbed his hands together and said, "Don't worry, I'll keep a close eye on things myself, and nothing will be discovered."

Since the fake Buddha head case broke out, most of the Huang family's businesses have been seized, and their supplier, Fatty Sun, has mysteriously disappeared, virtually paralyzing the entire underground network. This batch of goods is a godsend; it not only keeps those restless downstream buyers in check but also lets those who are wavering know that the Huang family is still the same Huang family.

His thoughts were interrupted by Gao Dongxu's icy voice: "You know better than I what the Huang family's current situation is. If something goes wrong with this shipment..."

"Absolutely not!" Huang Jiao suddenly stood up straight, his fat face taut. "I swear on my life!"

Gao Dongxu didn't say anything more, nodded, and turned to walk out of the basement.

Huang Jiao took a deep breath, his gaze sweeping over the room full of treasures once more, a happy smile spreading across his face. With this shipment, those wolves and tigers lurking in the shadows should start wagging their tails at the Huang family again.

"Fusheng, you stay home and look after them," Gao Dongxu said to Fusheng in the villa.

“Yes, boss,” Fusheng replied immediately.

"Have all the boxes been loaded onto the truck?" Gao Dongxu asked Fugui and Erpang.

"Yes, everything's done," Fugui nodded and said.

"Alright, let's go." Gao Dongxu led Fugui and Erpang outside.

Two Land Rovers drove out of the Imperial Palace Garden and headed straight for Liulichang.

At the entrance of the newly opened Surenzhai Antique Shop in Liulichang, Big Gold Tooth leans on a gleaming, polished huanghuali cane, waiting expectantly, occasionally smiling and nodding to those who greet him.

When the two Land Rovers stopped in front of his shop, and Gao Dongxu got out of the car, Big Gold Tooth immediately stepped forward with a big smile to greet him, "Sir, you've finally arrived."

"What happened to your leg?" Gao Dongxu asked, frowning slightly as he looked at Da Jinya's limping gait.

"Thank you for your concern. It's an old ailment, rheumatism. I don't know why, but it's been hurting terribly these past few days," Big Gold Tooth said with a smile, as he invited Gao Dongxu into the shop.

"Hmm." Gao Dongxu nodded, looked at the sign of Surenzhai, and walked into the well-organized shop filled with all kinds of antiques and calligraphy.

"not bad."

Hearing Gao Dongxu's satisfied words, Big Gold Tooth's smile widened even more. "Sir, I'm glad you're satisfied. Please take a seat—"

Gao Dongxu walked to the desk, sat in the main seat, and looked at Big Gold Tooth, saying, "I came here this time to bring you some junk."

"That's great—" Big Gold Tooth's eyes immediately lit up, and he asked in a low voice, "From the Lu Palace?"

"Mm." Gao Dongxu didn't hide it from him and nodded with a soft "Mm."

"You're amazing, sir! So many people went and all failed, but you escaped unscathed. Oh dear, I was so happy to see you that I almost forgot to congratulate you on getting that record-breaking price that has shocked the world." Big Gold Tooth slapped his forehead in annoyance, then quickly clasped his hands in congratulations with a big smile.

"It's spread?" Gao Dongxu took out a cigarette, tossed one to Big Gold Tooth, and lit one for himself.

"The news spread like wildfire. Now everyone on the street is asking about the whereabouts of Xu Yicheng's treasures from back then. Xu Yuan is so bothered that he doesn't even dare to open his shop anymore," Big Gold Tooth said with a smile as he took his cigarette.
