Chapter 287 Slaughter
Chapter 287 Slaughter
Johnny and Nagil led their men through the kitchen door and into the house. The two servants, the cook and the gardener, had already been subdued; they were tied with ropes and their mouths were stuffed with rags.
There was no sign of Pant in the underground factory, and Johnny proceeded unimpeded, with no one daring to stop him.
As Hadhan's personal bodyguard and top enforcer, everyone feared him.
The group came from the underground factory to the mansion next door, where there was hardly anyone.
Johnny quietly went up the stairs to Pant's large study and found him sitting in a winged high-backed armchair facing the window.
All the guards were stationed outside the mansion, while the inside was left undefended.
The group exchanged glances and then silently surrounded them.
Pant woke up with a start, and as he tried to scream, he reached for the revolver on the desk.
However, Johnny was quicker; he covered Pant's mouth and pressed his head firmly against the back of the chair.
Two other people grabbed Pant's arms to prevent him from moving, while Gani found some duct tape and tied Pant's mouth shut tightly.
After doing all this, Johnny stepped out from behind the chair and stood in front of Pant.
He stared wide-eyed, trying to say something, but the tape blocked his way, and he could only stammer unintelligible.
Johnny stared intently into his eyes until fear overwhelmed him, then plunged the knife into his heart.
Pant's body convulsed and struggled, his head trembling slightly and rapidly, but then he quickly fell silent.
Although he couldn't shout, screams came from hell, and everyone could hear them clearly.
They pushed Pant's body off the chair and onto the gleaming floor.
Then Najir and Gani, along with their men, used heavy meat cleavers to cut off Pant's hands, feet, and head.
Johnny watched quietly, and for the first time in months of burning desire for revenge, his heart felt at ease.
That was his father, his family.
Tooth for tooth, blood for blood.
Pant's body was scattered throughout the mansion, just like the bodies of his comrades who had been blasted to pieces by helicopter rocket fire.
The guards, oblivious to the danger, only noticed the anomaly at this point.
But it was too late; Johnny and his men had already pulled out their prepared AKs.
They didn't want Pant to die too easily, so they chose to use a knife.
Now, without any reservations, they naturally started using American-style iaido.
The mansion was severely damaged; chandeliers, artwork, and porcelain were all smashed.
Seven or eight guards also perished; they were die-hards under Pant.
Johnny knew that Pant had long harbored resentment, and that he had joined in the first place because he had no other choice.
His pharmaceutical business was swallowed up by Hadhan, a fact he still resents to this day.
After learning of Hadhan's plans at a meeting, he thought the underground tyrant had gone mad.
That was complete stubbornness; he was convinced that Hadhan would lose all his businesses, money, and power within the gang.
He believes that Hadhan spends too much time on the war in his homeland and everything related to it.
He also knew that Hadhan had already planned the follow-up events in Mumbai, as well as his future business empire.
Therefore, no sooner had Hadhan left Mumbai than he contacted Baba Yang through the Daoud gang.
He had been waiting for this day for a long time. As long as the terrifying underground tyrant was in Mumbai, no one could do anything to him.
Hadhan and Daud are very similar; they are both gang leaders and evenly matched.
One is in Babayang, his sanctuary. The other is in Mumbai, his kingdom.
To break their golden shield, their backsides must be removed from the throne.
Hadhan walked right into a trap; he actually went to the empire's graveyard.
That was indeed his hometown, but it was also fraught with danger.
Pant succeeded in a sense, but he didn't get to hear the good news himself.
He's sitting here waiting for a call from the north; there are rumors that they've got some information over there.
Instead of a phone call, Johnny called instead.
The group did not linger; they left the mansion to hunt down Pant's henchmen.
This is a factional struggle within the gang, and Pant won't be the only one to die.
Ron only learned the details of the struggle two weeks later, when he was focusing his efforts on the parallel justice system.
The debtor who owed the judge money was represented by Anil himself. Perhaps he had heard something, as he left the shop in Dharavi early and went into hiding.
But as long as you're in Mumbai, no one can escape Ron's eyes; there are plenty of gangs in the area willing to tip you off.
The man named Shaikh was hiding in a slaughterhouse in a slum near Madanpur.
It coincided with the Eid al-Adha festival, and people brought thousands of cattle and sheep to Madanpur in central Mumbai for slaughter, which lasted for three whole days.
Yes, Eid al-Adha is also called the Festival of Sacrifice, which involves the slaughter of cattle and sheep.
Shaykh was also a herdsman, and he hoped that the scene of slaughtering cattle would frighten the Hindus who came to collect debts.
Unfortunately, this trick didn't work on Anil. He'd killed plenty of people, so why would he be afraid of killing a cow?
Madanpur, also known as "Little Baba Sheep," is almost entirely devoid of Hindus, becoming the domain of pastoralists. Eid al-Adha is one of the important festivals for these pastoralists, which can be roughly explained as follows:
Allah, in order to test their ancestor Ibrahim, commanded him to sacrifice his son.
Ibrahim took his son to the mountain, closed his eyes, raised his sword, and was about to stab him when Allah sent an angel with a black goat to be sacrificed in place of Ibrahim's son.
Therefore, the significance of Eid al-Adha lies in offering what you cherish to God.
The person who brought Anil and his group in was the workshop director of a nearby stove parts factory. The rice scoop that Suer Electric Appliances will be using to launch its rice cooker next month will be supplied by the factory.
Someone led a ram to the open space in front of the factory. It was a special offering from the workshop director to Allah, as he was grateful for almost escaping extortion by gangsters this year.
The gang members called the workshop foreman and came to the factory to look for him, but he wasn't there. The thugs told his workers: If you want to live, hand over two raccoons.
In the end, it was Anil who helped him resolve the trouble. With just one phone call, those thugs never dared to come to his door again.
The children, led by their mother, arrived at the open space. "They should see it for themselves," the workshop director said.
The ram was thrown to the ground, its head pulled back, and its limbs bound. A one-year-old child was carried by an adult onto the ram's back, and then quickly taken down.
The dignified priest asked who was going to make the sacrifice. The crowd handed him a piece of paper, and he read out the seven names listed on the paper, and then chanted the mantra.
Typically, a ram can be used as a sacrifice for all seven children, which in a sense saves costs.
The butcher stepped forward and slit the ram's neck with his knife. Anil, standing on the steps, had a particularly clear view.
The ram's throat was slit, and blood gushed out. Its carotid artery, which had suddenly turned white due to blood loss, convulsed violently.
The sheep's body trembled involuntarily; its head twitched and its legs shook.
"It'll take quite a while for this meat to move," one onlooker remarked to another.
For the next hour or so, even as the lamb is sent to the kitchen to marinate and prepare for cooking, it will continue to maintain this neurogenic contraction.
It might suddenly spasm on the cutting board, especially the outer muscles.
"It's really no different from killing people," Anil thought to himself.
He had seen a similar scene in Uttar Pradesh, except that instead of sheep, people were lying on the chopping board.
The streets behind the factory were slick with blood, and slaughtering was taking place everywhere, with sheep and cattle being killed.
The workshop foreman led Anil to a slaughterhouse and pointed to a butcher inside who was slaughtering cattle.
A bull was led into an open space, a rope threaded through its nostrils. The people tried to overturn the bull, binding its limbs and shoving it forcefully.
But as soon as the ox fell, it somehow struggled to its feet. However, it was ultimately outnumbered and stumbled, falling to the ground.
One person stepped forward and shut its mouth. The butcher held a 30-centimeter-long knife. A crowd gathered around, including many young children.
Today is the first day of Eid al-Adha, and it's still early. The bull made a show of resistance, letting out a mournful bellow from deep within its throat.
Then, with a flash of the blade, the bull's neck was swiftly severed. The bull's head and body were dragged in opposite directions, the cross-section of its neck fully exposed to the sunlight, and blood gushed from the arteries like a fountain, staining the butcher's entire body red.
He turned around triumphantly, covered in blood, and looked at Anil and his group defiantly.
He had clearly noticed this place beforehand and was not afraid of the guests who came to his door.
"Is he Shaikh?" Anil asked expressionlessly.
“Yes, he worked at this slaughterhouse before he made his fortune.” The workshop director swallowed hard.
Anil led his men out of the crowd and walked straight up to the butcher. A silence fell as people noticed the uninvited guests.
"Would you like to experience the power of this knife too?" The butcher gestured with the butcher's knife in his hand, while also signaling to his helpers around him with his eyes.
Now that he's rich, his former colleagues, eager to curry favor with him, are eyeing Anil and his group with malicious intent, as if they were carrying sharp knives.
As a result, Anil quickly reached out, grabbed his wrist, and twisted it, causing the butcher to drop his cleaver in pain.
The blood-stained dagger was caught by Anil's other hand before it fell to the ground.
In the same flash of the blade, the butcher screamed in agony.
With a thud, his right thumb fell onto the blood-stained ground.
“You probably won’t be able to wield the butcher’s knife anymore.” Anil twirled the knife with a flourish.
"Who are you?" the butcher screamed, kneeling on the ground.
“Are you Shaikh?” Anil asked, using his knife to lift Shaikh’s chin.
No one in the crowd dared to step forward; the way the other man chopped people was more skilled than slaughtering a cow.
“I didn’t do anything to you, why?” Shaykh shouted.
"Paying back debts is a matter of course. You even dare to renege on a judge's money, kid, haven't you ever heard of 'chance encounter'?"
Fear flashed in Shaykh's eyes. This legal method of executing gangsters was a nightmare for every young man involved in organized crime in Madanpur.
If it was murder, the gangster boss behind it could easily avenge them.
But chance encounters are an exception; they're a tacit understanding between the legitimate and illegitimate worlds, and dying in such a situation would be pointless.
"I'll pay you back! I'll pay you back today!" Shaykh was afraid that if he shouted too late, the knife would plunge into his chin.
"Not today, but now!" Anil slapped his face with the blood-stained knife.
It's quite reasonable to sacrifice a shepherd's finger during Eid al-Adha, isn't it?
