Chapter 710 The Battle of Kamas 7

Chapter 710 The Battle of Kamas 7
The massive convoy began to move, the roar of engines coalescing into a torrent of steel. The heavy gates of the fortress slowly opened, revealing a post-apocalyptic scene filled with blood and smoke, the sky stained a deep red.

Leona jumped off the Rand Raider and boarded her specially designed command-type Thunderhawk gunship, while Tycho Brahe and Cassius also boarded their respective vehicles.

Like swords drawn from their sheaths, the assault troops sped out of the fortress and plunged headlong into the land polluted by chaos.

The attack began almost as soon as they left the fortress's defensive perimeter.

Small groups of demons and chaos traitors emerged from the ruins and trenches on the flanks, attempting to harass the assault force's flanks.

The veterans of the Blood Angels quickly dismantled these harassments with precise bursts of fire and swift counter-attacks.

The Cyclone Missile Vehicles and the Petrified Lizard Cannons roared from time to time, blasting the enemy formations that were trying to gather in the distance into pieces.

The sky was not peaceful either.

Several Lightning fighters attempting to provide close air support to the troops engaged in fierce aerial combat with a demon engine enveloped in chaotic energy, flying from the direction of Hera City.

Vehicles were frequently shot down, trailing thick smoke as they crashed to the ground and exploded into fireballs.

The orbital fire support from the "Indomitable Truth" spacecraft arrived as scheduled.

The enormous light spears, like divine judgment, occasionally tore through the dark red sky, landing precisely on large enemy troop concentrations or suspected heavy units detected ahead, clearing obstacles for the assault troops.

Each time the light spear lands, it triggers an earth-shaking explosion, temporarily clearing out an area.

But the enemy's resistance remained stubborn.

The closer you get to Hera City, the higher the density of demons and the more severe the chaos pollution.

The ground became muddy and sticky, as if stepping on congealed blood. The air was thick with the suffocating smell of sulfur and blood, and whispered calls to slaughter constantly tried to erode the warriors' will.

Leona closely monitored the troops' advance speed and casualties through the tactical panel.

Losses were inevitable, and every destroyed vehicle and every fallen soldier weighed heavier on her heart.

But she couldn't stop; she had to reach Hera before the chaos and pollution spiraled out of control.

Meanwhile, on orbit, Lion King Leon and his personally selected three hundred Deathwing Terminators had boarded their dedicated assault drop pods.

Their target was directly beneath the warp gate in Hera, from which demons continued to pour forth.

"Prepare for the airdrop." The Lion King's deep voice echoed in every Deathwing warrior's communication channel. "Our mission is decapitation. Locate and destroy the ritual core that sustains the rift, and kill the wizard named Gorg. This will create an opportunity for Leona's ground forces."

"For the Lion King and Caliban!" came the voice of Grand Master Belial.

The belly hatch of the "Unyielding Truth" opened, and dozens of assault drop pods, resembling metal tombstones, were ejected. With unstoppable momentum, they broke through the atmosphere of Kamas, like vengeful meteors, and plummeted towards the city of Hera, shrouded in blood and fire.

Two sharp blades, one on the ground and one in orbit, simultaneously pierced the heart of the demonic legion. The fate of the planet Kamas, and even the outcome of the first major battle after the Lion King's return, will be revealed in this desperate attack on Hera City.
-
Leona's command was clear and ruthless, like cold steel needles piercing the communication channels of every commander on the noisy battlefield: "All ranged units, cover the rear of the demon front and cut off their reinforcements."

Holy Blood Angels, except for those necessary to maintain flank guard, all move closer to me.

The Crimson Crescent Armored Company will concentrate its firepower on both sides of our assault axis to suppress enemy heavy units. Infantry will consolidate captured positions, mop up any remaining enemy forces, and must not advance recklessly.

Her instructions left no room for questioning.

Company Commander Tycho immediately carried out the order, and the red-clad Holy Blood Angel warriors, like rivers flowing into the sea, quickly broke free from their entanglement with the small group of demons ahead and converged on Leona's location.

They silently adjusted their formation, reloading their bomb guns, and their chainsaws and power swords hummed, forming a steel wedge formation of crimson and dark green, with Leona at its spearhead.

The armored units of the Crimson Crescent began to roar. The multi-barreled laser cannons of the Chimera troop carriers and the artillery fire of the Hellhound tanks no longer attempted to directly kill the thick-skinned vampires, but instead precisely struck the rear echelons and flanks of the demonic wave, exploding into showers of fire mixed with limbs and rubble, effectively slowing down the replenishment of the demonic army.

The mortal infantry, relying on the ruins and burning vehicle wreckage, desperately fired laser guns and heavy bombs, trying to clear out the scattered demons that had been "bypassed" by the assault formation but still posed a threat. Every step forward was accompanied by heavy casualties.

Leona did not wait for the formation to be completely perfect.

She could feel that with every second of delay, the subspace pollution in the direction of Hera City became more concentrated, and the blood-red rift that tore through the sky seemed to be constantly drawing life force from this world and expanding.

"Follow me!" she shouted, and the power armor's leg servo system unleashed its full power, propelling her like an arrow towards the death zone composed of twisted metal, burning buildings, and howling demons.

"We will not betray the blood of Saint Gilles!" Tycho shouted, following closely behind.

More than a hundred veterans of the Holy Blood Angels, like a red storm that had been ignited, followed their commander and charged into the main line of the Khorne Demon Army!
This was a completely unequal clash, yet it was also an ultimate display of will and strength.

The burning bodies and undying battle cries of the vampires formed the first barrier.

They brandished flaming swords, crashing in like crimson waves. Leona's Lion King Sword traced a golden path; wherever the blade passed, the flames extinguished, and the demon's body, under the impact of divine energy, was severed and purified as if a hot knife were cutting through grease. It emitted a shrill shriek, not entirely belonging to this dimension, before dissipating into basic subspace energy.

She doesn't need complicated sword techniques; each strike is concise and efficient, containing Primarch-level power and the Lion King Sword's anti-magic properties.

She was like a red-hot branding iron, piercing deep into a huge block of butter, and wherever she went, the demons scattered.

But there were simply too many demons.

As soon as one vampire is slain, two, three more immediately fill the void. They disregard casualties, driven only by a pure thirst for slaughter and bloodshed.

The flaming sword struck Leona's power armor, leaving charred marks and sparks flying. Although it couldn't immediately break through the armor's defenses, the accumulated impact and the blasphemous flame energy continued to drain her armor's energy field.

The Holy Blood Angels followed closely behind, forming the main body of the wedge formation.

The bomb gun roared at close range, knocking back the demon that was trying to pounce from the side, creating space for Leona in front and her brothers on the flank.

However, as intelligence indicates, the explosive bombs are far less effective at killing demons than at killing enemies in the material world.

It often takes several, or even a dozen, accurate shots to completely dismantle the physical body of a vampire.

The real decisive factor is still close combat.
