Chapter 560 Cooperation
Chapter 560 Cooperation
The landing craft of both sides were like fragile pebbles thrown by an invisible giant hand, violently tossed about in the raging energy turbulence, and finally, with a piercing metallic friction sound and the roar of overloaded engines, they forcibly landed on the rugged "ground" composed of frozen spacetime matrix, broken star debris and molten solidified unknown metal fragments in front of the outer barrier of the ruins entrance.
The cold Imperial eagle emblem on the Deathwatch's silver-gray power armor contrasted sharply with the solemn Inquisition emblem on the Inquisition's jet-black armor. The air was thick with the smells of engine oil, ozone from high-voltage arcs, the burning smell of smoldering metal, fresh blood, and a chilling, almost solidified hostility.
The eyes behind the helmet visors of both sides were filled with undisguised vigilance and hostility. The explosive guns, molten weapons, and the burning muzzles of the battle nuns' guns were instinctively raised and pointed in each other's direction.
However, the invisible oppressive feeling of death emanating from the huge energy barrier in front of them, which emitted an ominous purplish-black light, and the deep humming that seemed to penetrate the soul and emanated from the depths of the ruins, strangled the anger in everyone's hearts like cold iron clamps.
Faced with this overwhelming threat, they had to focus more attention on the dead zone before them, wary of any relic defense mechanisms that might suddenly emerge from the distorted terrain or churning energy flows.
"Guterres! Immediately organize firepower to suppress the path leading to the coordinates, clearing all obstacles! Knight Maria! I need your 'Radiant Sentinels' for a precision strike, targeting the cover at coordinates Alpha-Gamma-7, ensure a single hit! Sage Aurejana! Lead the technical team carrying the 'Stabilizer' core components to the edge of the barrier at full speed and begin the assembly process immediately! Carleon's Think Tank! You must deploy a mental barrier at the edge of Sister Liz's force field, fully assisting the target psyker in stabilizing his collapsing consciousness and providing him with a mental anchor! Sister Liz... you must hold on, maintain the void force field, it is our only safe haven!" Inquisitor Felus's cold, efficient, and unquestionable commands, like the precise meshing of clockwork gears, echoed rapidly in the shared encrypted communication channel, each syllable carrying the absolute authority of a battlefield commander.
Maria's "Radiant Sentinel" knight mech roared with deafening engine noise. The massive machine stabilized itself on the rugged ground, and the huge hot-melt cannons on its shoulders instantly lit up with an incandescent light that was too bright to look at. The buzzing sound of energy gathering inside rapidly rose, and finally turned into a shrill screech that tore through the air!
A scorching, destructive energy beam, powerful enough to melt adamantite, like a divine punishment spear, precisely tore through the churning, twisting energy turbulence radiating deadly radiation in front of it, and slammed into the metal cliff covered with thick spacetime ice rock at coordinates Alpha-Gamma-7 outside the barrier!
Boom——! ! !
Amidst the deafening explosion, hard spacetime ice crystals, shattered star debris rocks, and unknown metal fragments that were instantly melted and then solidified shot out in all directions like deadly shrapnel!
Before the billowing smoke and rising heat had completely dissipated, the bombarded area revealed an energy node circuit with an extremely complex structure, composed of some kind of dark and lusterless unknown alloy, and whose core was flashing with an ominous scarlet light!
Just as the destructive light of the molten metal cannon struck, Guterres, like a cheetah smelling blood, unleashed a deafening battle cry over the communication channel: "Death Watch! For the Emperor's glory! Purify the path!"
The power gauntlets, covered in adamantine armor, roared deafeningly. He took the lead and charged out of the bunker like a storm of steel, smashing a small defensive drone, shaped like a metal spider, that had just emerged from the cracked rock wall into pieces with a single punch!
The members of the Titus squad behind him spread out instantly like a sophisticated war machine, quickly establishing crossfire points based on the terrain. The ear-piercing whistling of chainswords cutting through metal and the roar of explosive guns tearing through the air intertwined into a symphony of death. The dense and deadly firepower tore more and more defensive structures of various shapes swarming out from the cracks and shadows into burning fragments.
The battle nuns of the Inquisition reacted just as swiftly. Like black vengeful angels, they spread out on the flanks, their precise bursts of explosive shells intertwining with the spray of incinerating flames to form another wall of destruction, turning defensive units attempting to flank them into twisted scrap metal.
Although the warriors' gazes remained icy and sharp even in the fleeting moments of eye contact, a ruthless tactical "coordination," driven by survival instinct, had already formed on this land of death in order to suppress the shared and even more deadly relic guardians. Under the cover of the furious barrage of fire constructed by the Death Watchers and the Battle Sisters, Sage Aurejana led her squad of technical priests, carrying the heavy and rudimentary core components of the "Psionic Stabilizer," along with Warren Inquisitor, a psionicist half-dragged and half-carried by two Battle Sisters, his body trembling violently, thick blood seeping from his orifices, and his consciousness on the verge of collapse, as they struggled toward the edge of the barrier.
Every step felt like struggling through a solidified asphalt swamp. The gravitational turbulence and intense psionic interference from the raging energy currents caused even the heavy servo robotic arms to groan under the strain.
The Carleon think tank stood at the edge of the pale void force field supported by Liz. The psionic runes on his ancient think tank power armor flickered violently. His eyes were closed, and the veins on his forehead bulged like gnarled tree roots. His powerful mental strength was forcibly condensed and shaped into a tough mental barrier, trying its best to penetrate the chaotic energy field and provide the dying psionic with an extra, fragile mental protection and a stable anchor of consciousness to resist the disturbing whispers from the depths of the ruins that were enough to shatter mortal souls.
Sister Liz Mortan stood alone at the closest point to the purplish-black barrier, her void field around her resembling a pale bubble swaying in a storm, stubbornly resisting the violent energy shocks and psionic turbulence from the outside world.
Her body trembled slightly with heavy breathing, each breath seeming to require all her strength. Her lips, tightly pressed together beneath her mask, had long since lost all color, and sweat soaked through her inner lining, clinging to her cold skin.
Maintaining such a large-scale void force field and resisting such a strong impact would be an unimaginable burden on her psychic energy and physical body.
However, her gaze, though penetrating through her goggles, remained as sharp as a tempered blade, fixed on the core of the entire battlefield—especially on the dying psychic being dragged forward, carrying everyone's last hope.
She knew all too well that the “pale” area she had created was the only relatively safe anchor point in this chaotic and deadly land, and the last barrier for the technical team and psionicists to complete that fragile operation.
"Now! Connect the stabilizer to the psionic circuit! Forcefully inject the preset frequency!" The Sage Oregana's mechanically modified, emotionless voice shouted sternly.
