Chapter 358 Prophecy and Divination

Chapter 358 Prophecy and Divination
The group members were chatting enthusiastically, and the topic unknowingly turned to Chen Xi's previous experience at the airshow.

"Hey, do you guys remember those airshow photos Chen Xi posted last time? The White Emperor fighter jet breaking through the atmosphere solo was absolutely awesome!" someone excitedly brought it up.

"Needless to say? This airshow is absolutely phenomenal!" another person chimed in. "The videos online are all over the place, but seeing it in person is even more breathtaking."

As the only person in the group to be present at the scene and even enjoy VIP treatment, Chen Xi naturally became the target of everyone's "attack".

"Boss Chen, bring your brothers along next time!" someone jokingly wailed.

"Yeah, does the VIP lane mean you don't even have to queue? And you can even touch the actual device? I'm so jealous!"

Chen Xi waved her hand with a smile: "It's not that exaggerated, it's just that the location is a bit better, and a young lady is acting as our tour guide..."

Just as everyone was making jokes and chatter, Liu Yi, who hadn't said much until now, suddenly spoke up: "You guys are very interested in this kind of military exhibition?"

"Of course!" Old Meng immediately chimed in, "Isn't a man's romance good?"

Liu Yi nodded: "There's also an Air Force Open Day this year, which I heard will be closer to actual combat equipment than the air show. If you want to go, I can ask my comrade-in-arms, maybe he can arrange for you to visit and experience some of the new equipment."

These words caused an uproar in the club.

"Wow! I didn't know you had this kind of connection, Liu Yi?" Old Meng slapped his thigh and raised his voice eight octaves: "Count me in! I regretted missing the last airshow so much, I'm determined to make up for it this time!"

His shout seemed to open a floodgate of conversation, and others eagerly signed up as well.

"I'm signing up too! Count me in!"

"We can't miss this opportunity!"

Several other group members were also very interested in this, and even 32, Guterres, and MaiMai actively signed up.

Chen Xi was also very interested and suggested, "Why don't we announce it in the group chat and go as a group? It'll be more fun with more people!"

"Great idea!" Old Meng immediately perked up: "If we wear matching outfits, we'll definitely be the most eye-catching people on site!"

However, Liu Yi quickly poured cold water on the idea: "The Air Force Open Day is quite formal. If you want to experience some active-duty equipment, it's best not to be too conspicuous, otherwise people will easily notice..."

He hesitated, but his meaning was clear—being too conspicuous might attract extra attention from security.

"Don't worry!" Chen Xi interrupted with a smile, "The uniform they're talking about is just a white T-shirt, maybe with a flower printed on it, nothing too extravagant."

Liu Yi breathed a sigh of relief and nodded, saying, "If that's the case, then there's no problem. Wearing easily identifiable clothes is also good; there will be many people on open days, so it's less likely to get lost."

"Then it's settled!" Old Meng made the final decision: "White T-shirt with a group logo, understated yet slightly arrogant, perfect!"

The group chat erupted in cheers, as if everyone could already see themselves "dominating" at the Air Force Open Day.

Back home, Chen Xi re-examined the intelligence that 32 and the others had gathered, and after thinking it over carefully, he entered the 40k world again.

When Chen Xi stepped into the governor's mansion, Vallis was studying an ancient star map.

Hearing footsteps, she looked up, her eyes, which shimmered with psionic light, narrowed slightly: "Human, you've come with trouble."

“That’s true.” Chen Xi cut straight to the point without any pleasantries: “I received intelligence from within the Inquisition that a Chaos cult has emerged in the Hive of the Mariopol Sector’s capital, the Undercity. They have not only successfully summoned a Khorne Archdeacon, but existing evidence also indicates that at least two Khorne Demon Princes are involved.”

He paused, his voice growing more serious: "I would like to ask you to perform a divination to confirm whether there is any trace of Tzeentch's involvement in this matter, and to predict the possible direction in which the situation may develop."

"The enemy of Chaos?" A sarcastic smile appeared on Valis's lips. "It seems this sector is really not peaceful. There are only a few major powers in the galaxy, and now, they've all gathered in this sector."

She counted on her fingers, "Orcs and space undead are waging a new war in Heaven, humans and the great enemy of Chaos are fighting back and forth, and then there's me, an Eldar..."

Vallis shook her head: "The major races of the galaxy are all here."

Although she joked about it, Vallis did not refuse Chen Xi's request.

She stood up and gestured for Chen Xi to follow, leading him to the spiritual energy meditation room in the governor's mansion. She had made some modifications to the room, with the walls covered in spirit race runes and a faint scent of spices filling the air.

As an experienced Eldar prophet, Valis does not require complex rituals to aid in divination.

Normally, she only needs to think about it, and the information she needs will flood into her mind like a tide.

However, regarding this prophecy involving the great enemy of chaos, she still cautiously took out a set of spirit bone runes and arranged them into a precise circle in the center of the room.

“Predicting the future isn’t difficult for us; the real challenge lies in distinguishing what is certain and what is merely possible,” Valis explained as she set up the ritual, tracing a string of psionic sparks above the runes with her finger. “Especially when the Tzeentch demon might intervene, the future becomes… exceptionally complex.”

Vallis knelt gracefully in the center of the rune array, her slender fingers slightly apart, her palms facing down and resting on the spirit bone runes that emitted a faint blue light.

As she gradually entered a meditative state, the ancient runes began to flicker like stars, casting ever-changing light and shadow in the dim room.

The air in the room suddenly became viscous, as if it had been solidified by some invisible force.

Chen Xi could feel that each of his breaths became unusually heavy, and a peculiar static electricity permeated the air, making his skin tingle slightly.

Vallis's long, silvery-white hair moved without wind, swaying gently behind her, with tiny sparks of psionic energy dancing among the strands.

A pale purple halo gradually formed around the prophet, starting as a thin layer and quickly expanding into a semi-transparent energy barrier.

Strange runes and patterns flowed continuously across the surface of the halo, sometimes clear and sometimes blurry, as if displaying countless possible fragments of the future.

Chen Xi noticed that Vallis's brows furrowed slightly, and her eyes, which had been shimmering with psionic light, had turned completely into a dazzling purple, with rapidly flashing images reflected in her pupils.

The temperature in the room seemed to be slowly dropping, and Chen Xi could see the white breath he was exhaling.

The psionic candles placed around the rune array suddenly burst into flames, but the flames were eerily dark blue and did not flicker at all, as if they were frozen in time and space.

Vallis's lips began to tremble slightly, as if she were silently reciting some ancient prophetic incantation.

Chen Xi felt a throbbing sensation in her temples, and an indescribable sense of oppression enveloped the entire room.

He did not disturb Vallis's ritual, but stood quietly at the edge of the room, waiting for the truth revealed by the divination.
