Chapter 59 Kitchen Wanted Criminal
Chapter 59 Kitchen Wanted Criminal
Many years later, when Hagrid came to the depths of the Forbidden Forest to check on the living conditions of the unicorns, he would always remember the afternoon when Coin brought that strange black unicorn who loved to drink butterbeer to his cabin...
But Cohen didn't care - his alcoholic mother, his gambling father, his jailed brother, and his broken self...
It seemed like the world had become something dark and twisted, and Cohen no longer cared.
Let it be rotten, you will get used to it after a while.
After releasing Ali back into the forest, Cohen returned to the castle alone.
Since he missed dinner completely, Cohen planned to deliver the tube of unicorn blood directly to Quirrell's office, and then sneak into the kitchen to get some food to bring back to the lounge.
This way I don't have to go out tonight.
Arriving at the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom on the third floor of the castle, Cohen saw that the door to Quirrell's office was open and someone was talking inside.
It's Snape.
He had Quirrell cornered in his office, his left hand clutching Quirrell's collar, his right hand hidden beneath his robes, as if clutching a wand.
The stuttering Quirrell looked like a poor guy being bullied in the workplace.
"S-Severus..."
Quirrell muttered.
"What are you planning with that student called 'Corn Norton'?" said Snape coldly. "Dumbledore is suspicious of you - have you figured out how to get past Hagrid's monster?"
"I—I—but…" Quirrell rubbed his hands together, not daring to meet Snape's gaze.
"I've warned you once, Quirrell." Snape took a step closer. "When it comes to the Dark Lord—"
"Who?"
Snape suddenly turned his head and looked out the door.
"Hello, professors, are you chatting?" Cohen greeted them as if nothing had happened.
"How long have you been eavesdropping outside?" Snape came to Cohen like a big bat. "If I remember correctly, you did not attend the dinner...Mr. Norton."
"That's because I'm helping Hagrid look after the unicorn," said Cohen frankly, winking at Snape - who would no doubt report it to Dumbledore.
Being able to hang out with unicorns is another strong proof of Cohen's "kindness".
"Unicorns generally don't let young male wizards get close to them," Snape said to Cohen in a long tone. "I guess you know what it means to hurt a unicorn, right?"
"Don't talk nonsense, I get along well with them."
Cohen took out the little flower that the unicorn cub gave him, as well as a small ball of golden fur - the unicorn was shedding some hair, probably because it had eaten Hagrid's version of toffee.
"..."
Snape stared at Cohen with empty eyes for a long time. Cohen could not see his intention - Snape even suppressed all his emotions deep in his mind, and Cohen could not judge by the emotions of those around him.
But the evidence was irrefutable. Snape couldn't possibly tell Dumbledore that Coin hadn't even spared the unicorn cub...
Snape said nothing more to Coin. He turned around and looked deeply at Quirrell, then strode away, waving his robes.
But after taking two steps, he suddenly stopped for a moment.
"Ten points deducted from Gryffindor." Snape suddenly turned around and said, "Students are prohibited from entering the Forbidden Forest."
"I went there to help Hagrid look after the unicorn!" Cohen retorted.
"Hagrid is not a professor."
Snape picked a reason to deduct points, and Cohen seriously suspected that this reason was prepared by Snape to deal with Harry early on. Snape must have prepared a lot of reasons to deduct points, and he could have justified it from the moment Harry stepped into the Potions classroom.
"You, add the points to me."
After Snape left, Cohen put the tube of unicorn blood on Quirrell's desk and asked Quirrell.
"You really—how could you…" Quirrell looked at the tube of fresh unicorn blood that Cohen took out in disbelief.
The silver blood swirled slowly in the test tube, like a work of art—but how did Cohen do it?
Unicorns would let a little wizard take their blood? Or...
Cohen killed a unicorn while surrounded by centaurs and unicorns and then walked away unscathed?
The more Quirrell thought about it, the more outrageous it seemed.
At Cohen's strong request, Quirrell added back the points that Snape had deducted from Cohen, and added an extra 20 points, on the grounds of "helping the professor obtain rare course materials."
Satisfied, Cohen left the third floor and turned to the lower level of the auditorium on the first floor.
If Cohen remembered correctly, there was a painting of a bowl of fruit in the corridor leading to the Hufflepuff common room...
Cohen's memory was correct; there was indeed such a painting hanging on the wall of the brightly lit corridor, with a particularly brightly colored pear on it.
Cohen reached out and scratched the pear, it made a squeaking sound, and the next second it turned into a green door handle.
To be honest, the house-elves at Hogwarts are very welcoming to the students. As long as they know the way to the kitchen, no student will go hungry at Hogwarts.
"You don't have to be so afraid of me."
Cohen's mouth twitched as he looked at the group of house-elves who fled in panic like mice seeing a cat after he came in, and finally huddled together in the corner.
There were also a few timid house-elves that gave a sharp cry and then Apparated away with a bang.
"I just came to get something to eat—"
As soon as Cohen finished speaking, he felt as if he had said the wrong thing. This sentence seemed to have a different meaning in the ears of the house elf.
"The Dementors are coming to eat the house-elves!"
The whole kitchen seemed to be filled with a bunch of firecrackers. After a series of crackling sounds, almost all the frightened elves ran away.
The creatures of the magical world were still too timid, and Cohen was disappointed in their courage.
However, not all the house-elves here have become deserters.
Cohen noticed there was another elf in the corner.
It tried to straighten its thin chest and closed its eyes, like a warrior ready to die - as if staying here meant that its soul would be eaten by Cohen.
"Tink is afraid of nothing...Tink is loyal...Tink will protect the Hogwarts kitchens..."
The house-elf named Ding Ding tried to numb himself with words as Cohen kept approaching - but Cohen could still see its trembling legs and its throat swallowing saliva, as if death was very close to it.
Ding Ding couldn't help but open her eyes a little.
It saw the monster with a dark and evil soul approaching.
The monster is already in front of me!
The monster opened its mouth!
It's going to suck out your soul!
"Order of fried chicken and chips?"
