Chapter 188 The Fly Chaser

Chapter 188 The Fly Chaser

"It's good that you can speak human language..."

Edward breathed a sigh of relief.

Being able to speak human language means that communication is very convenient, so Edward doesn't have to worry about whether the creature wants to attack him or make friends with him after roaring for a long time.

"Then come in and meet it. The one talking is the middle one, so don't worry about the other two." Cohen pulled Edward into the box. "When I go to Peru, you can chat with it. It won't be too lonely..."

……

"Roar!!!" (A roar of joy)
"Merlin's ****!"

Edward quickly rolled to the side with Cohen, because the Chimera that had just seen Cohen was already rushing towards where they were, and the lion head was still roaring excitedly.

"Stop, stop!" The black goat grabbed the lion's hair on the back of its head with its mouth and stopped the car abruptly.

"It's a little excited," Cohen explained to Edward.

"You didn't say you were raising a Chimera!" Edward said, slumped to the ground. "What else are you going to raise? What other dangerous animals haven't you raised yet, Dumbledore?"

"You're frightened. Dumbledore isn't a magical creature," Cohen said. "But if we look at it from a species perspective, the current Voldemort might be considered one, because he's no longer in human form..."

"Hello, I'm sorry the lion scared you. That wasn't our intention." The black goat apologized to Edward. "Are you another relative of Cohen's?"

"What do you mean... other relatives?" Edward said. "I'm his father—with the snake and the unicorn... wait..."

Edward's eyes went dark, as if he realized something.

"This is yours too..." He looked at Cohen.

"Don't feel inferior because of your race. You and Rose are the best parents," Cohen comforted.

"Don't try to comfort me next time." Edward covered his face and said, "How many dangerous creatures have been stuffed into Burke Manor... One day I'm going to kill Herbert—"

"It looks like you've accepted it now," Cohen said with satisfaction. "I knew your acceptance was second only to Hagrid's—Hagrid will be thrilled when he comes here next term."

"But now I'm going crazy - if this news gets out, our whole family will go to Azkaban." Edward sighed.

"Just don't let the news get out, okay?" Cohen said. "And I told you, the Dementors won't hurt you. I'm here."

"..."

Edward took a few deep breaths. With the experience of the Fire Dragon Nightmare and the Basilisk in mind, it took him much less time to recover this time.

"We don't eat people." The black goat comforted Edward. "Lions are just more lively. You can try touching the lion's fur. It may give you a sense of security. I see that this is how humans approach wild animals."

What the black goat said was indeed true. After tentatively touching the lion's head's mane, Edward did get along more naturally with the Chimera beast.

"Look, it's safe." Cohen was very satisfied with the scene. "The whole family is here."

Will you go to Greece in the future?

Suddenly, the horned water snake asked Cohen.

"?" Cohen looked at the snake head in confusion.

[Nothing…] The horned water snake thought about it, but still didn't say it. What are you going to Greece for?
Do they have fellow Chimeras that need saving?
-
Although Edward's "friendship" with the Chimera has reached the point where they can get along normally, Edward still made a decision to back down - regarding Cohen's plan to follow the Philip Fly tracking expedition to Peru, Edward decided not to follow.

"Are you really not going?"

On July 18th, Cohen packed his bags and planned to go to Autry St. Catchpole to meet the Lovegoods. Before entering the fireplace, he asked Edward one last question.

"Forget it." Edward shook his head. "You can take care of yourself. I treated you as an ordinary child before. And the 'family' in your box will protect you."

"Why do I feel like you're jealous?" Cohen frowned.

"Silly boy, you are not Rose, how can you be so popular?" Edward pushed Cohen with a smile.

"Is that... you feel useless?" Cohen asked, tilting his head. "Don't underestimate yourself. Being able to marry Rose and survive until now is already more successful than all your old classmates—at least more successful than Sirius Black."

"Hurry up and join your fly-hunting expedition," Edward urged. "Hurry up."

Coin grabbed a handful of Floo powder:

"The Lovegoods of Autry St. Catchpole."

A burst of emerald green flames engulfed Cohen, and moments later, Cohen appeared in Luna's fireplace.

"Ah! Cohen!"

Luna's father, Xenophilius, had already packed a large backpack and was waiting by the fireplace for Cohen to appear.

"Luna keeps talking about you—few people are willing to join the search for the Philippine Fly because of its invisibility. Some people always think it doesn't exist..."

"Dad, I'm done packing too." Luna came out of her room, carrying only a shoulder bag, just like she usually did at school. "I brought my harassment fly detection glasses and the Crown of Wisdom, because I think they might have the same characteristics as harassment flies..."

Luna saw Cohen.

"Cohen!" Luna jumped and ran to Cohen.

Then, Luna performed a series of actions that Cohen could not understand at all. She first pulled Cohen's hair, then rubbed Cohen's ears, as if to confirm Cohen's texture.

"They're not anthropomorphic monsters..." Luna breathed a sigh of relief. "They disguise themselves as your best friend and lure you into the forest to eat you..."

"But we've spread a circle of salt outside the house, dear, so they can't get in," Xenophilius consoled Luna. "The journey is about to begin, and I bet Mr. Gonzales and Mr. Scamander must be getting impatient."

"Scamander?" Cohen suddenly heard a very familiar name.

"The author of 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'!" Xenophilius introduced him enthusiastically to Cohen. "He's bringing his grandson along on the expedition. You can follow along and learn a lot about magical animals. I also need to ask him if he's ever collected any Scimitar-Horned Snorkack horns. I heard he raises a lot of magical animals, and some of them have even developed settlements..."

"really……"

Coin had no doubt about the size of Newt's magical beast colony—but joining a Philip Fly-tracking expedition... seemed quite fitting for Newt, even if the creature was most likely fictional.

"and this."

Luna happily took out a thin booklet from her bag and handed it to Cohen. It seemed to be handmade from several sheets of parchment and several strands of gold thread.

"This way you can also write down your observations - no matter what the outcome of the trip is, the process is always exciting."
