Chapter 24 Professor Snape

Filch was a dishevelled, middle-aged man who looked very haggard.

He had a head of withered Mediterranean gray hair and a hunchback that seemed to indicate he had arthritis or some other illness.

He was thin, with loose skin, eyes that bulged like light bulbs, and a gloomy and sharp look. Even in the auditorium, he was always looking around vigilantly.

His clothes were shabby; even Ron's old robes looked much nicer.

But the Maine Coon cat at his feet was very beautiful. Although a little thin, its fur was very clean.

Harry sensed scattered magical powers from the unprepossessing Mr. Filch. Some of them belonged to him, scattered and disordered, unable to be mobilized, while the rest were mostly remnants of spells cast by others.

He quickly determined that Mr. Filch was the Squib of the wizarding world, a poor man who came from a wizarding family but could not cast spells.

He works at Hogwarts, the school of witchcraft and wizardry, but he cannot cast spells. He can only watch the young wizards cast spells, and there is a high possibility that he will be discriminated against by some wizards.

If things got worse, naughty little wizards like Ron's brothers Fred and George might cast evil spells on him and play pranks on him.

These simple jokes to the little wizards were extremely hurtful to Mr. Filch.

I guess Mr. Filch is willing to give up his soul in order to gain magic?
Harry didn't need much, just loyalty, freedom to travel by night, and a few insignificant Galleons.

He didn't expect Mr. Filch to have any powerful wizard talent. After all, a Squib's talent should not be as strong as that of a wizard.

So what kind of magic can be offered to this poor guy?

The most basic telekinesis is necessary. It is both convenient and has certain combat capabilities. It is an almost perfect magic.

Maybe I could also give him magic tracking spells, clairvoyance detection spells, and the like.

They are the perfect weapon to deal with ignorant little night wizards!

Harry's mouth curled up into a smirk unconsciously.

Dumbledore continued, "Then finally, let me tell you one thing: fools! Crybabies! Scum! Twist! Thank you all!"

The other little wizards all looked confused, not knowing what these words meant.

Seeing Harry's smirk, Hermione assumed he knew, so she asked:

"Harry, do you know what Headmaster Dumbledore meant by that?"

Harry was stunned for a moment, then immediately realized that he did know:

"That's a derogatory term used by the four colleges to refer to the other colleges.

Ravenclaw thinks everyone else is a fool, Gryffindor thinks everyone else is a crybaby, Slytherin thinks everyone else is scum, and as for the gentlest little badger, he thinks that the little wizards from the above three colleges are too twisted.

Of course, this is just my guess.”

"So that's how it is." Hermione looked at Harry with sparkling eyes.

Harry is amazing, this is not in the book.

Dumbledore's speech ended in an instant, and Harry began to like the kind old wizard more and more.

He is very similar to the Sorcerer Supreme, both are very efficient. For example, when the Sorcerer Supreme saw the demons invading the earth, he started to cast forbidden spells without saying a word.

And Dumbledore didn't nag like those headmasters in the Muggle world, so he must be the same person.

As Dumbledore finished his speech, the banquet officially began. Harry sensed a subtle spatial fluctuation, and the next moment, a large amount of food appeared on the plate.

Roast lamb, roast chicken, pork chops, lamb chops, sausages, steak, boiled potatoes, roast potatoes, chips, Yorkshire puddings, pea shoots, carrots, gravy, ketchup...

It has to be said that although the magic power in the wizarding world is not that great, it is very convenient. Many basic spells involve extremely deep knowledge of Kamar-Taj.

For example, the restoration spell Reparo (restore to original state) involves the mystery of time. This is a magic that only the Supreme Wizard and a very small number of senior wizards can master.

For example, the food that suddenly appeared just now cannot be made without profound magical attainments.

Harry gradually discovered that the magic of the wizarding world was not without its own characteristics. It was just that compared to Kamar-Taj, which had to face the invasion of dimensional demons, the magic of the wizarding world paid more attention to daily life.

Maybe it is for this reason that the food in the wizarding world tastes really good. Even though Harry has eaten delicacies from many places, the food at Hogwarts can still give him a different sense of freshness.

Ron was enjoying the meal of two chicken legs in his hands, while other young wizards were chatting with each other, discussing their families and the magic they had mastered, and making friends with each other.

Many young wizards greeted Harry, even Slytherin, who had some grudges against Gryffindor.

Harry responded one by one with proper etiquette. Since he needed to attend a banquet with the Supreme Sorcerer for some powerful wizards from other dimensions, he had studied the etiquette carefully and could make any little wizard feel at ease.

All the little wizards who talked to Harry were very fond of him. After dealing with all the little wizards, Harry was a little tired.

Only then did he have time to ask Percy beside him:
"Percy, who is the teacher that Professor Quirrell is talking to?"

Percy found Snape next to Professor Quirrell and answered Harry's questions:
"That's Professor Snape, Head of Slytherin."

"What subject does he teach?"

"Potions, even though I don't like him, he is a Potions Master and is more than qualified to be a Potions Professor.

But everyone knows that he is most interested in the Dark Arts, and he has been coveting Quirrell's position for several years."

Harry nodded, thanking Percy for his answer, and then thought:
"Potions Master? I remember my mother was also a Potions Master. He was my mother's friend, but was bullied by my father. Could this be the reason why he loves and hates me?"

Harry felt that he had found the correct answer, and maybe he could ask Hagrid later. As a good friend of his parents, Hagrid should know the answer.

Ron seemed to have a special liking for chicken legs. After eating two, he wanted to eat more. Just as he was about to take it, he was startled by a transparent head that suddenly appeared.

It was a male ghost who looked unlike any modern man. He wore a ruff, like a knight.

Seeing that he had frightened the little wizards, the ghost smiled with satisfaction and said:

"Hi, hello, and welcome to Gryffindor!"

Ron looked at the ghost carefully, then remembered something after a moment and pointed at the ghost and said:
"I know who you are. My two brothers have told me about you. You are 'Nearly Headless Nick'!"

Nick's face darkened. "I think I still prefer you to call me Sir Nicholas de Mincy-Poseidon!"

The little wizard named Seamus Finnigan asked curiously:
"Almost headless, how come you almost headless?"

Harry immediately guessed what was going to happen next and immediately lowered his head to avoid looking at Sir Nicholas.

As expected, many young wizards screamed in surprise, and Hermione was so scared that she hugged Harry's arm tightly.

Seeing the bloody broken neck, all the little wizards except Harry lost their appetite immediately.
