Chapter 226 Immortality
Chapter 226 Immortality (Part 1)
Qi Bo replied, "The concepts of Yin and Yang can be counted to ten, extended to a hundred, counted to a thousand, extended to ten thousand, and so on, beyond which they are countless. Yet their essence is one: Heaven covers and Earth sustains, from which all things are born."
Lü Shang's mind was completely absorbed into the ancient seal script on the tattered pages, and in a daze, he seemed to be able to hear the long-ago dialogue between the Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan and Qi Bo.
The so-called "Suwen" is itself the question posed by the Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan.
The Yellow Emperor and Qi Bo sat down and discussed the Dao. The Yellow Emperor asked questions and Qi Bo answered. The whole picture of the Suwen is formed by their questioning and answering.
Lu Shang unconsciously stroked the tattered page with his fingertips, feeling as if the character 'one' suddenly illuminated all the orifices of his body like a candle flame.
In a daze, he seemed to hear the Yellow Emperor asking again: "I wish to hear the ultimate principles of heaven and earth, which, when combined with the blood and qi of man, determine life and death. How can this be accomplished?"
Then, Qi Bo replied: "The ultimate number of Heaven and Earth begins with one and ends with nine. One is Heaven, two is Earth, three is Man, and so on, three times three equals nine, corresponding to the nine fields. Therefore, Man has three parts, and each part has three phases, to determine life and death, and to regulate emptiness and fullness."
Boom! !
In his mind, it seemed as if a great bell was ringing, and the pale white aura surrounding Lü Shang suddenly surged, causing the bits of grass in the haystack to move without wind.
The moonlight filtering through the window cracks seemed to be stirred, the silvery lines suddenly widening and slanting across the bronze fragments.
The already shimmering ancient seal script light exploded instantly, transforming into specks of fireflies that landed on Lü Shang's body, causing all 1,296 acupoints to emit brilliant light.
Then, forty-eight thousand apertures emitted faint light!
"So that's how it is,"
After an unknown amount of time, Lü Shang slowly opened his eyes, a faint golden light flashing in them.
"Thus, my path has been completed!"
His hand touched the bronze fragment, and after a long while, a relieved smile finally appeared on his face.
"My path has been completed!!"
At the same time, the radiant light emanating from Lü Shang's acupoints gradually subsided.
The moonlight outside the window had returned to its usual state, and silvery rays of light shone through the window cracks, quietly falling on his shoulder.
"I never imagined that this volume of the *Suwen* would be the key to my enlightenment,"
Lu Shang raised his hand and stroked the bronze fragment. Perhaps even Qing Li, the spirit who gave him the "Suwen" (a classic text on Chinese literature), could not have imagined that a mere fragment of the "Suwen" would be of such great help to Lu Shang.
If we say that Lü Shang obtained the "Jinhua Secret Manual" and comprehended the "Taiyi Golden Decree," a martial art for immortals, from it, that was his path to enlightenment.
Lü Shang's path to enlightenment lay in understanding the realm of immortals after studying the "Suwen" left behind by the Yellow Emperor.
Let him know how to proceed after becoming a human immortal, instead of just knowing that the ultimate human immortal is to shatter the void.
"Immortal, immortal, indestructible, and eternal!"
This is the path to becoming a human immortal that Lü Shang comprehended in the "Suwen," namely, the four realms of human immortality, which are unique to him.
Lu Shang slowly rose to his feet, his blood and qi surging like a great river, only to instantly return to stillness.
Not bad,
He murmured softly, his fingertips tracing the air, as if he were deducing the threshold for breaking through his realm.
Lu Shang clearly sensed that his physical body had reached the state of 'indestructibility', making it difficult for divine weapons and magical arts to harm him.
The 1,296 apertures represent the beginning of the primordial chaos and the origin of all things. Even the immortals are just beginning anew.
The "immortality" that follows the "indestructible" state does not refer to the physical body's eternal life, but rather to the state of being in harmony with the ultimate numbers of heaven and earth, allowing the physical body to reach a state of indestructibility and endless cycle like heaven and earth.
It should be known that the ultimate number of Heaven and Earth is 13,500. Therefore, Lü Shang needed to measure 13,500 acupoints to achieve perfection. The Inner Canon states: "With one exhale, the pulse travels three inches; with one inhale, the pulse travels three inches; between breaths, the pulse travels six inches." In one day and night, a person breathes 13,500 times.
If one can measure 13,500 acupoints and contemplate 36,000 spirits, one will reach the 'immortal' realm of a human immortal.
The "immortality" that follows "immortality" is the true transcendence of life and death, the understanding of one's own life and death, the freedom from the constraints of reincarnation, and the erosion of time.
As for the ultimate 'immortality,' Lü Shang only has a vague outline of it now.
In Lü Shang's imagination, it should be a realm that transcends the ultimate laws of heaven and earth.
It is both a beginning and an end, shattering the vacuum, the ultimate force.
Just as Lü Shang was deducing the various changes of the four realms of human immortals, he was unaware that his actions of comprehending the incomplete chapters of the Suwen had alarmed a great supernatural being who had a great connection with the Suwen.
------
Above the Thirty-Three Heavens, amidst the boundless sea of clouds, lies a magnificent celestial palace suspended in the fierce winds.
The walls of this magnificent palace are not made of ordinary stone, but rather formed from countless wisps of condensed cloud.
The cloud-like jade steps wind down from the main gate of the Heavenly Palace. Each step is covered with jade-like grass, and glistening dewdrops hang from the grass leaves, turning into wisps of smoke as they fall onto the steps.
Two bronze tripods, each ten feet tall, stand on either side of the palace gate. Their bodies are engraved with ancient seal script, from which a faint light emanates.
Inside the Zichen Palace, the Nine Dragon Cloud Bed was bathed in a soft, moonlit glow.
The Yellow Emperor sat cross-legged, his black hair flowing down to his shoulders. He wore a dark imperial robe embroidered with the sun, moon and stars, and purple energy swirled around him like a light veil. The Xuanyuan Sword lying horizontally beside him reflected his calm face.
"What a clever child!"
Suddenly, the Yellow Emperor, on a whim, awoke from his meditation. Upon opening his eyes, he immediately understood the cause of the incident and laughed heartily.
Lü Shang wrote the "Suwen" himself, and the mirror he carried was also an item of Xuanyuan, showing that he had a very strong connection with Xuanyuan.
Therefore, Lü Shang's enlightenment was able to resonate with Xuanyuan's Dao heart.
"Come,"
The Yellow Emperor flicked his fingertips, and a wisp of purple energy overflowed from his sleeve.
Inside the hall, it transformed into a water mirror, reflecting the scene of Lü Shang standing in his thatched hut.
The bronze fragment lay quietly in Lü Shang's palm. Although no light emanated from it, there was a faint Daoist aura that resonated subtly with the moonlight outside the window and the air currents inside the room.
"My 'Suwen' has been passed down for ten thousand years, and many people have come to understand the Way of Heaven and cultivate the Way from it, but few have been able to break free from its constraints and establish their own path."
"I didn't expect this,"
The Yellow Emperor's gaze fell upon Lü Shang's composed face reflected in the water mirror, and his smile deepened. He said, "This lad has actually managed to forge a new path from a fragment of the *Suwen*."
The Yellow Emperor gazed at the water mirror, slowly raised his hand, and gently touched the dewdrops on the jade-like grass on the cloud steps with his fingertips. His voice was tinged with emotion as he said, "However, in my past life, I discussed the Dao with Qi Bo and wrote the 'Suwen' to unravel the secrets of heaven, earth, and humanity, and to guide all beings to glimpse the path of the Great Dao. I never imagined that ten thousand years later, I would still see someone forging a different path."
"This child's mind is much more agile than many Taoist practitioners who only know how to memorize scriptures."
"It's a pity this child already has a master; otherwise, I would really like to take him as my disciple. Such a clever child is rare indeed."
Of course, although the Yellow Emperor had this thought, he could only shake his head and sigh helplessly when he saw the Daoist charm of the "Golden Flower Secret of the Ancestor of Fuli" on the other party's body.
