Chapter 890 Blocking
Sun Zhiwei's series of surprise attacks terrified the nine "big fish" who were on their way.

Of the nine people, one mercenary was killed instantly by Sun Zhiwei's first shot, and the subsequent grenade explosion seriously injured three of them.

Next came the heavy machine gun fire. In fact, the effect of heavy machine gun fire was very poor in this dense forest, as most bullets were blocked by various trees halfway through their flight.

Sun Zhiwei's purpose in using the heavy machine gun was not to injure people, but mainly to highlight its powerful firepower.

Generally speaking, heavy machine guns have a very high rate of fire, but that also means they can't fire for very long.

The mercenaries were experienced in combat, so they all hid well under the heavy machine gun fire, and none of them showed their faces.

After Sun Zhiwei fired all 3000 rounds of the heavy machine gun, apart from the one who was killed by the first shot, the remaining bullets only grazed two of them.

This round of firepower resulted in 1 death, 3 serious injuries, and 2 minor injuries.

After the heavy machine guns stopped firing, two uninjured and two lightly wounded mercenaries immediately jumped out of their hiding places, ready to retaliate against Sun Zhiwei.

But when they looked at Sun Zhiwei, they discovered that there was another heavy machine gun next to the one that had just fired.

This situation terrified the four men, and before they could take cover again, a second heavy machine gun opened fire.

The two men, who had sustained minor injuries, moved a little too slowly, and the bullets from the heavy machine gun instantly tore their bodies apart.

Now only three members of the nine-person team remain uninjured. Two of them are mercenaries, one of whom is the mercenary leader, and the other is the target, "Big Fish," who is hiding at the very back.

With most of their men killed or wounded, the enemy's firepower remained plentiful. The mercenary captain decisively ordered a retreat, with three seriously wounded mercenaries covering their rear.

Sun Zhiwei used his spatial ability to see the movements of the group clearly, but he did not pursue them. Instead, he slowed down the firing rate of the second heavy machine gun, giving them time to retreat.

Soon, the two mercenaries led the "big fish" northward, leaving the three seriously wounded men behind. Each of them took out a grenade from their bodies.

These mercenaries are truly valiant. I wonder where the people behind them found these mercenaries who are willing to risk their lives for money.

Seeing this, Sun Zhiwei did not go forward to find the bomb. Instead, he calmly pulled the trigger, pinning the three seriously wounded men behind a tree so they could not move.

The sound of heavy machine guns echoed through the rainforest, and nearby animals were terrified by the sounds of machine guns and explosions and scattered in all directions.

Although the rate of fire had been slowed down, the second heavy machine gun still ran out of ammunition after 20 minutes.

Sun Zhiwei then put away the two heavy machine guns and took out a few hand grenades.

Then, Sun Zhiwei threw three grenades at the hiding places of the three seriously wounded mercenaries.

After three explosions, the three seriously injured men either fell unconscious or died, and the grenades in their hands fell to the ground beside them. Then, after three more explosions, everything returned to calm.

The three "big fish" who had already escaped far away felt a shiver run down their spines after hearing the last three explosions. They knew that the three who were covering their retreat were probably gone, and they quickened their pace.

Seeing that the "big fish" had already gone far away, Sun Zhiwei was worried that the group of wounded mercenaries were not completely dead, so he put all the corpses on the ground into his space and then slowly followed behind, heading north.

With an experienced mercenary captain leading the way, the three of them were able to avoid most common dangerous animals. However, due to the decrease in their numbers, their pace also began to slow down.

After walking for another three hours, it was getting dark. The mercenary leader and "Big Fish" found a few adjacent large trees and began to set up camp.

Setting up a safe temporary campsite in the rainforest requires not only insect and mosquito protection but also waterproofing. Fortunately, they prepared a considerable amount of targeted supplies before entering the rainforest, so setting up the campsite was not difficult.

With two mercenaries as the main force and "Big Fish" as the assistant, they quickly cleared a space and lit a fire.

The three of them set up their hammocks around the fire. The hammocks could keep the ground dry and avoid poisonous insects, but the trees were not really safe either.

The jungle is home to not only animals that live in the trees, but also animals that can fly, so the hammock needs to be surrounded by a barrier.

Especially overhead, where all sorts of things can fall from the tall trees at any time, most commonly snakes, centipedes, and ants. You also need to be wary of monkeys and jaguars.

The three of them then stretched a waterproof tarpaulin over the three hammocks to prevent rain and to prevent things from falling down.

Seeing that they were setting up camp, Sun Zhiwei retreated a short distance and then found an open space to deploy the "Kharkovchaka" polar vehicle.

The tracked polar vehicle came to a steady stop on the humus layer. Sun Zhiwei opened the car door and went inside. He first took a hot shower, and then prepared a sumptuous dinner for himself.

Then, he watched from the space as the three people in the distance ate dry rations and lay down on the comfortable bed to sleep peacefully.

It rained heavily twice in the middle of the night, but each time it didn't last long.

Because it is located at the very bottom of the forest, it is sheltered by the dense trees at the top when it rains. The rainwater is buffered by the layers of leaves and is no longer as violent as it is at the top of the forest.

The first thing Sun Zhiwei did after waking up the next morning was to check the area around the vehicle.

Last night before going to bed, he had used his spatial ability to clear away all living things within a 500-meter radius of the car. But after just one night, the area around the car was once again teeming with all sorts of ants, snakes, insects, and locusts.

He cleaned up the space again before washing up and eating.

The three people on the "big fish" side are still fast asleep.

They didn't sleep well that night. The jungle was very noisy at night, with all sorts of strange animal calls making it hard to fall asleep.

The three of them were startled several times throughout the night while lying in the hammock, and they didn't fall asleep until almost dawn.

Half an hour later, Sun Zhiwei was eating breakfast while looking at the three people sleeping soundly in the hammock.

He was going to come up with something new to wake them up.

There was no need for any big moves; he simply used his spatial ability to capture a few bullet ants and then quickly sent them to the three people's hammock.

A few minutes later, the three people who were fast asleep were each awakened by a sharp pain.

The intense pain caused all three of them to scream in agony almost simultaneously, and Sun Zhiwei could faintly hear them even from a distance, through the thick carriage.

Watching the three people jump up from the hammock in terror, only to fall to the ground from the air.

Sun Zhiwei was also taken aback by their violent reaction. He quickly swallowed the steak in his mouth and gasped as if he could feel their pain.

It seems these bullet ants truly live up to their reputation; getting bitten really does feel like being shot.
