50s: Starting with a storage ring

Chapter 623 A Useless Struggle

Chapter 623 A Useless Struggle

"Gentlemen, please make your choice. The two sides of the coin are the King and the Knight. You may each choose one side to represent yourself."

"I choose the King." That was Rex's choice.

"Then I'll choose the Knights." Sun Zhiwei had no objection; after all, he didn't rely on luck to win.

"I will toss a coin in the air. Whoever lands face up will be the first to shoot themselves."

"Then we'll take turns firing until a winner is decided. Do either of you have any objections to this?"

"I agree."

Now that things had come to this point, Rex was no longer conflicted and readily agreed, and Sun Zhiwei was even less hesitant.

Seeing that both of them had agreed, Blair held up the gold coins and said in a deep voice, "Begin."

As soon as he finished speaking, he raised his hand, and a one-pound horse and sword coin flew into the air, with the king and knight tumbling through the air.

All eyes were fixed on the flying gold coins. As the coins fell, they rolled gently on the velvet cloth on the table for a while before starting to spin.

Those with keen eyesight have already noticed that, with the king above, all eyes are on Rex.

Rex, who had already made up his mind, gritted his teeth and stared intently at the spinning gold coin, hoping for a miracle.

As expected, the gold coin quickly stopped spinning, and the king's image silently gazed at the rooftop.

Sun Zhiwei hadn't expected to have such good luck today, and he couldn't help but smile as he looked at Rex.

Rex's face was contorted with rage, his hands trembled, and he bit his lower lip until it bled.

Sun Zhiwei glanced at him once before focusing his attention on the golden revolver in the center. His spatial dimension had been opened, and the position of the bullet in the golden revolver was clearly visible.

He counted and was surprised to find that the bullet was in the fourth hole. Wasn't that his second shot? He could only shrug.

It seems he wasn't lucky today, but rather very unlucky.

'Luckily I don't rely on luck,' Sun Zhiwei muttered to himself.

Before he could finish muttering to himself, he used his spatial ability to remove the bullets from the golden revolver and then put them back into the first hole of the golden revolver.

When he finished cheating and looked at Rex again, Rex's face had been struggling for a long time, turning pale and then red.

Sun Zhiwei tapped the table with his finger impatiently and said, "Coward, if you don't dare to gamble, then admit defeat."

“Attorney Smith, give him a share transfer agreement and have him sign it.”

Smith then slammed a share transfer agreement down in front of Rex with a loud thud, a sound that seemed like a resounding slap across Rex's face.

Rex, his face flushed with humiliation, mustered his last bit of courage, stood up, grabbed the golden revolver from the table, and pointed the muzzle at his temple.

Immediately, he gritted his teeth, closed his eyes, and pulled the trigger.

"Bang!" A gunshot rang out, and brains splattered everywhere.

Rex, wielding the golden revolver, opened his eyes and stared ahead in disbelief. His eyes gradually lost their light; he had been defeated.

Everyone except Sun Zhiwei was stunned. No one expected that the first shot would be the final one, deciding the outcome with a single shot.

Notary Blair was the first to react. He immediately went forward to check on Rex's condition, and then returned to the center.

He surveyed the room, and only after everyone had quieted down did he solemnly announce:

"I hereby declare Mr. James the winner of this duel, and he shall receive Mr. Rex's wager: 6% of the Pinkerton Detective Agency."

“Notary: Blair Julian.” After saying that, he gestured for his men to come in and clean up the mess.

Sun Zhiwei watched Blair's performance and felt it had a special sense of ceremony, but none of this could be made public. Inside, everyone knew what was going on: a duel.

But to the public, they would give a different story: he lost the bet and had an emotional breakdown, and that's what Blair would say to the public.

Immediately, a number of waiters who had been waiting outside the conference room filed in.

Some of them wiped the tables, some mopped the floor, and some carried Rex's body out. In no time, the conference room was cleaned up, just like when they had arrived.

But everyone knew things were different. The stench of blood still lingered in the air, and fear filled half the room.

The remaining fifteen minority shareholders, pale-faced and trembling, sat slumped in their chairs, too afraid to move.

Seeing this, Sun Zhiwei threw a blank share transfer agreement on the table and said with a hint of sarcasm:

"He struggled a little, but what was the point? He just gave up his life. Are shares more important than life?"

Then, he looked up at the remaining minority shareholders: "Who's next?"

Upon hearing this, the meeting room fell silent. The image of Rex's brains splattering open flashed through the minds of the fifteen minority shareholders once again.

Several minority shareholders, overcome with fear, vomited violently, and Sun Zhiwei also smelled a strong odor of urine.

Seeing that he had intimidated them all, Sun Zhiwei covered his nose and gestured to Attorney Smith.

Upon seeing this, Smith waved for his assistant to bring over two stacks of documents and place them on the conference table.

Sun Zhiwei pointed to the documents and said, "The one on the left is the 'Equity Transfer Agreement,' and the one on the right is a betting agreement similar to the one with Rex."

"Those who don't want to duel, sign the 'Equity Transfer Agreement' and get out of here. Those who want to duel, sign the one on the right. You have five minutes."

After saying that, Sun Zhiwei could no longer stand the stench in the meeting room, so he covered his nose and walked out.

Notary public Blair Julian also walked out of the conference room with him.

Outside the meeting room, Sun Zhiwei thanked Blair for acting as the notary and invited him to dinner that evening. Blair readily agreed and left.

In the conference room, shortly after they left, three minority shareholders rushed to the conference table, pulled up their trousers, and quickly signed the "Equity Transfer Agreement".

After Attorney Smith checked and confirmed that everything was correct, they staggered out of the conference room.

With someone taking the lead, things became much easier. The others no longer needed to worry about saving face, and they all signed the agreement and left in a sorry state.

When Sun Zhiwei returned to the meeting room, only one of the sixteen minority shareholders remained.

It was Aaron Powell, who owned 5% of the company but was also the youngest detective at Pinkerton Detective Agency.

He held an agreement in his hand, but did not leave.

Sun Zhiwei asked him with some surprise, "Are you going to bet against me?"

Upon hearing this, Allen Powell's face paled even more, but he still managed to say, "No, this is my transfer agreement."

"However, I am not only a shareholder of the company, but also an on-the-job detective for the company."

"I would like to ask you, may I continue to work as a detective at the company?"

Hearing his words, Sun Zhiwei became clearly interested and said to Allen, "Give the agreement to the lawyer, and come with me."

The meeting room now smelled even worse than the bloody stench of Rex's death, and he had no intention of staying there to talk any longer.

Afterwards, Sun Zhiwei took Alan back to the guest room upstairs, while the lawyers stayed behind to pack up the agreement.
