Chapter 170: Tank bridge inspection, subway trial

After the second phase of civil defense engineering, there was a third phase, which is the modern civil defense engineering that is still ongoing today.

Modern civil air defense projects have undergone feasibility studies before construction, taking into account both the needs of air defense in wartime and the needs of economic construction, urban construction and people's lives in peacetime, and have dual functions in peacetime and wartime.

Many large and medium-sized civil air defense projects have become key projects in the city, such as the Fendou Road underground commercial street in Harbin, the Beixin Railway Station underground city in Shenyang, the People's Square underground parking lot in Pujiang, the underground shopping mall in the railway station square in Xingyang, and so on.

There are many underground civil air defense projects built under other names, such as subway networks in cities across the country, underground integrated pipe galleries (containing power cables, communication cables, water supply and drainage pipes, recycled water pipes, etc.)

There are actually many small civil defense projects surrounding us.

For example, the underground parking lot in your community, the underground floors of various buildings, the shelters in the park, the underground workshops and underground warehouses of factories, the underground crossings at intersections, etc.

You walk past there every day, and you may never have thought that those places are actually built according to civil defense requirements, and they serve as wartime passages and shelters when necessary.

New buildings constructed in cities now have civil air defense requirements:
Civil buildings with more than 10 floors or with a foundation depth of more than 3 meters need to build an air-raid shelter with a resistance level of 6 or above based on the ground floor building area.

If pile foundation is used and the burial depth of the top surface of the pile foundation pedestal is less than 3 meters, or if the geological conditions are not suitable for the construction of an air-raid shelter, the construction unit may apply to relocate the air-raid shelter.

For other civil buildings other than those specified above, air-raid shelters shall be built according to a certain proportion of the total ground building area.

具体比例为:一类国家人防重点城市为4%-5%,二类为3%-4%,三类为2%-3%,县城为2%。

The uses of air-raid shelters include personnel shelter, medical rescue, material storage, etc., and the specific construction is organized by the people's air defense department.

These facilities have uniform signs inside. They are naturally used by units or individuals in peacetime, but will be converted to public use in wartime.

Therefore, everyone should pay attention to which places near their homes are civil defense projects, and also know the meaning of civil defense signs, as they may come in handy one day.

Sun Zhiwei will not be able to enjoy these future civil defense projects for the time being. Now he is digging the soil with teachers, staff and family members.

He was a good digger in his early years, and now he is in his prime, and he can do the job of ten people digging.

If it weren't for the public watching, he would have finished such a small cellar project in less than a day.

But this is everyone's business, and everyone needs to feel a sense of participation, so he only started it, as a foundation, and left the rest to others.

At the end of the month, there was a piece of news in the newspaper that sounded quite interesting.

It is said that the 20th anniversary of the National Day is about to come. In order to celebrate the birthday of the motherland, the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge will be presented to the motherland as a great gift, and it will also demonstrate the strength of New China to the international community.

The Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge held a project acceptance ceremony, and General Xu wanted to personally inspect whether the quality of the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge was up to standard.

The detection method was also unique. The general directly dispatched 118 heavy tanks weighing 32 tons.

These 118 heavy tanks were lined up in a row with 50 meters between each tank, and passed across the deck of the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge one after another.

Two hours later, all 2 heavy tanks had crossed the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge.

The bridge still stands proudly in its original location, intact, a testament to the excellence of Chinese bridge construction. Our practice of using heavy tanks to inspect the quality of bridge construction has also shocked the world, and many countries are eager to learn from our practice.

The very next year, Old Jack decided to emulate our feat to celebrate the completion of the 600-meter-long Russel Lai Bridge built in his country.

They also gathered a large number of reporters and the public, preparing to let them witness heavy tanks crossing the bridge to test the quality of the bridge.

On that day, they dispatched 120 T-35 tanks weighing 55 tons (two more than we had, which showed how confident they were).

As a result, just after the tanks drove onto the bridge and moved forward for only 5 minutes, 12 large cracks appeared on the bridge body of the Russel Lai Bridge. The technicians quickly stopped the advancing tanks.

I heard that they later spent another 10 billion yuan to repair the bridge, which was a shameless act of imitating others.

Time soon came to October, and the first subway line in Beijing was opened. It was 23.6 kilometers long, connecting the military base in Xishan and BJ Station, and had 17 stations.

However, due to war preparation requirements, the subway was not put into operation this year.

Sun Zhiwei thought that it would be a shame if the children could not see such advanced things in advance before they were opened to the public.

This is also an effective way to enhance children's sense of national pride. Everyone says that China is good, but what is good about it? Just look at the subway and you will know.

He immediately applied and submitted an application, hoping that the subway could be opened to the children to experience it.

Sun Zhiwei is very confident about this application. After all, Beihai is different from other schools and has the authority to give priority to training.

He felt that no one would object to this kind of thing of broadening the children's horizons.

Sure enough, the notice came three days later, and the subway was scheduled to be open to them on the 5th for them to visit and try out.

For the safety of the children, 10 military trucks were dispatched to transport the children along the several-kilometer road from the kindergarten to the nearest subway station, Hepingmen Station.

Sun Zhiwei also attached great importance to this trip. A total of 200 children from the middle and senior classes would go, and each truck would be equipped with 20 children and 4 teachers.

After breakfast on the morning of the 5th, the teachers took the children to the truck at the door and chattered all the way to the subway station.

From the moment they entered the underground passage, the children were extremely excited and kept dozens of teachers busy.

When the kids saw the thick supporting pillars and the spacious hall of the subway station platform, they couldn't stop exclaiming in amazement.

At this time, the country's first subway was parked on the subway track. It had a square shape and a special industrial beauty.

The reception staff at the station were a class of attendants, all dressed in military uniforms. They dispersed into each class and began to explain subway knowledge to the children.

After visiting the subway station, everyone boarded the brand new subway under the guidance of the attendant, and then drove through 19 stations to reach the military area.

The children stayed in the military area for a few hours, observed the military training and shooting, and had lunch before returning the same way.
