Chapter 423 Deep love between brother and sister

Chapter 423 Deep love between brother and sister
At 8:30 a.m., the glass curtain walls of the skyscrapers in downtown Nashville reflected the dazzling sunlight.

The editorial office of Kateco Global Media Technology Company is buzzing with excitement.

Inside the high-ceilinged office, a giant electronic screen scrolls through global news headlines, while the clatter of reporters' keyboards and the ringing of telephones create a background noise.

In a corner booth in the lobby, the aroma of caramel and coffee beans filled the air. Opposite was an area separated by a completely transparent glass wall, overlooking the entire editorial department. This was the office of Kate Grant, editor-in-chief and CEO of Kateco.

Inside the office, Kevin Grant leaned back lazily in his chair, his feet propped up on the desk, looking utterly bored.

In the small coffee shop across the street, several female staff members were making coffee while peeking into the transparent office. They couldn't understand why this man would be in the editor-in-chief's office so early in the morning, and it seemed that he had slept there all night.

If this happened anywhere else, they would definitely question it and might even call security, but this is the editor-in-chief's office, who knows who that is...

Considering Kate Grant's usual style, although everyone saw him, no one dared to knock on the door and ask, "Who are you, and why are you in our editor-in-chief's office?"

This includes Kara Danvers, the protagonist of Earth-38, Supergirl, or rather, Superwoman.

Kevin sat in the transparent office and glanced at Kara a few times. She was a blonde girl who looked very well-behaved, at least on the surface.

In reality, he is a Kryptonian with dreams of becoming a superhero.

He dared not look any longer. This guy was a Kryptonian, and no one knew better than him, having experienced the power of a Kryptonian, how strong their perception was.

"Of course, he's not necessarily that strong. Damn it, when I was being robbed and killed in Metropolis, Superman was nowhere to be seen, wasn't he?" Kevin thought to himself after glancing at the screen a few times.

"DaDaDa..."

Suddenly, as if sensing something, Karadanfoss said a few words to Winn, the superhero fan and sycophantic sidekick beside him. The two stood up at the same time, the automatic door opened, and a blonde woman in a scarlet suit and high heels strode in, muttering complaints as she walked.

"The only reason I bought this building is because it has its own elevator, so I don't have to be surrounded by cheap cologne every day on my way to work..."

She stopped abruptly, standing in the middle of the office lobby, staring blankly at Kevin, who had his feet propped up on the desk. Her face was initially filled with disbelief, then her body tensed, she shrank back, and let out a scream.

"Kevin~~~~~~~~, I'm going to kill you————!!!!"

Kate's face contorted, and she screamed like a hen being choked!

Kevin tapped the marble-like desk provocatively with his heel, a mischievous smile on his face...

"Ms. Kate, should we call security?"

Kate's scream startled everyone, and then a staff member stepped forward to ask what was wrong.

"No, no need!" Kate stormed into the office without turning her head, her face contorted with rage. She slammed her designer handbag onto the desk and glared at Kevin, saying fiercely, "Kevin, what are you doing here? And get your feet off the desk..."

"Tch, you're going to replace the desk anyway, why should I put it down?" Kevin curled his lip, glanced at him, then looked at the staff gathered outside, all looking on with gossip. "And besides, are you going to argue with me here?"

“I…” Kate turned around abruptly, and the staff outside the office scattered and returned to their posts, pretending to work, but their eyes still kept drifting in this direction from time to time.

Kate had recovered somewhat from her rage, but she was clearly still furious. "Kevin Grant, I need an explanation." "An explanation? Explain what? A dear brother missed his dear sister, so he came to visit her at her workplace. Isn't that touching?!"

"Touched my ass! You bastard, you ran off from Chicago to the Metropolis without a word and disappeared. I thought you were dead. Now you're here again. What are you trying to do? Tell me the truth!" Kate said fiercely.

"Of course I'm sending you money!" Kevin laughed.

"Giving you money?!"

"I took a look around today and noticed that there aren't many people working in your building. I have to say, you're still as vain as ever, and your investment acumen is as terrible as ever. You must have taken out a lot of loans, right? You can't possibly pay off so many loans by just being a paparazzi!"

“Shut up,” Kate said in a disdainful snort. “When it comes to failed investments, who can compare to you? Your stupid investment plans have already brought shame to the Grant family. If I were you, I would just obediently do nothing and live off the family fund.”

"Tsk tsk tsk, what a mean woman. Your mouth is like it's laced with poison. No wonder you can't get married. No man in this world can stand you." Kevin retorted. "But it's okay. I'm magnanimous and forgive you. Leave your floor upstairs to me."

"What are you going to do with this?" Kate raised an eyebrow.

“Trade secrets,” Kevin said, waving his hand dismissively. “Besides, you’re just a humanities student; you wouldn’t understand even if I explained. I’m just here to rent a place.”

"Rent a house? Do you have the money?! The money you get from the family trust every year can't even rent a toilet, right?"

“I don’t have it, but you do!” Kevin laughed.

“Ha—” Kate laughed in anger at his shamelessness, pointing at the door and saying, “Kevin Grant, get out now, now, immediately!”

"How about I give you a share, one percent?"

“Kai…” Just as Kate lost her patience and screamed, this time, she only managed to utter a single syllable before it seemed as if she had been choked.

Kevin had somehow put his feet down and placed a flat, dark metal sphere, which looked like it had just been crudely made, on the table. Above the sphere was a small blue light that flashed blue light. As Kate uttered the first syllable, the small light suddenly flashed a thin beam of light, which then expanded to form a semi-transparent holographic projection.

It was Kate's image, and at this moment, the holographic projection was synchronized with Kate's image.

“This…” Kate pointed at the holographic projection, looking bewildered, while the holographic projection itself made the same gesture at just the right moment.

"This is the projection part of my holographic communication technology," Kevin said, looking up. "Compared to all other holographic technologies on the market, it's cheaper and clearer. It will change the way the entire world communicates. Consider the floor above yours a stake..."

“Ten percent…” Kate suddenly looked up at Kevin.

“One percent, no more than that,” Kevin said. “And one percent isn’t just the price of the floor; it also includes company registration, patent applications, legal fees, and a whole host of related services such as renovations and recruitment…”

Kate's breath hitched, and her face contorted with anger once more. "You mean you'll just sit back and reap the benefits without doing anything?"

“No, you can’t just sit back and enjoy the benefits of one floor. You also need to provide service that satisfies me, Miss Kate,” Kevin said with a smile. “I’m only in charge of the technical aspects!”
