Chapter 33 Starlight
September 3, seven o'clock in the morning.

Boom, boom, boom, boom.

There were three long knocks and one short knock on the door. Quinn opened the door and Ankua was standing outside with a paper bag.

He was wearing the Grindelwald School Affairs Office trench coat and looked like he had just finished work.

"Here, I bought some breakfast."

"Heh~~yawn." Quinn looked tired and took the paper bag. "Thank you."

"Didn't you sleep last night?"

An Kuya walked in and said to himself: "Yeah, I just killed two people, it's normal to have trouble sleeping."

"No, I was having a wet dream. The black stockings were so good, it nearly made me spin." Quinn took a bite of his butter bread with a dark face. "That's fucking weird. Will the college accept me?"

"."

Ankuya's mouth twitched. What kind of person could have a wet dream a day after being robbed and killed two people?
"I haven't received any news. You are most likely not selected."

Quinn breathed a sigh of relief: "That's good."

Ankuya was puzzled. Why are you so happy about it?
"Do you know what happened last night?"

After Quinn finished his butter bread, he found a beef taco in the paper bag, smothered in sauce and looking quite tempting. He had relied on Ankuya to improve his diet; otherwise, he would have been stuck in his apartment eating the otherworldly version of a scrambled meal—coffee soaked in hard bread that tasted like chewing a bitter shoe.

"I received the letter," Ankua said calmly. "What a coincidence! Because the suspect is an arcanist, the academy has become involved in the investigation. I've also removed any traces of you. No one should know you were in the jewelry store that night."

"That's good. I don't want to go to jail." Quinn breathed a sigh of relief.

"How does it feel to kill someone?"

"Not very good." Quinn shrugged. "Shoot, bang, bang, bang."

"Isn't this your first time killing someone?" Ankuya asked in surprise.

Quinn was silent for a moment, looking away.

"After all, I didn't feel any psychological burden after killing two robbers."

"That's good. I don't want to be your psychiatrist just because of something as simple as murder. But there's still one question—"

Ankuya raised his eyebrows in dissatisfaction: "You shouldn't have gone to save that Branson lady."

"But there's no Xia Dai'er. I've been captured by the Holy See of Light."

"The last incident was already suspicious enough, and with this incident, Elon will definitely be suspicious of you. If her brother is a hero, it will be difficult to deal with."

Quinn chewed some beef and mumbled, "That's true, but I also have to repay the kindness."

"Xade'er is the only witness. What if she tells Elon about your presence?" Ankua sighed, holding his forehead. "Perhaps Elon will come to our house with the law enforcement officers soon."

"She won't. I told her to put the blame of the murder on the bodyguard."

"How can you be sure she won't? How long have you been in contact with her?"

Quinn wiped his mouth and said calmly, "She likes me."

".ha?"

"Although I don't have much experience in relationships, I can still understand what a sixteen-year-old girl is thinking. Anyway, I told her to keep it a secret. If she causes me any trouble because of saving someone, then we can just pretend we don't know each other."

Ankuya was stunned for a long time before shaking his head in a puzzled manner: "That would be best."

"Do you have a girlfriend?" Quinn asked suddenly curiously.

"No."

"Don't you want to find one? You have a face like that that could make you a debut in my hometown."

"I don't have the time, nor am I interested." Ankua didn't want to talk about his personal life. He said seriously, "You said in the letter that you found a syringe."

"Oh, I'll give it to you."

Quinn walked into the room and soon came out with a syringe. The syringe contained about ten milliliters of blue liquid, emitting a striking fluorescent light.

"It was on the robber's body. I shot him dead before he could even start fighting. I figured no one wanted this syringe, so I picked it up."

Ankuya took the syringe and shone the light of the gas lamp through the blue liquid. After observing it for a few seconds, he said:
"It's 'Starlight'."

"Starlight?"

The name is quite appropriate. The fluorescent dots in the blue liquid really look like stars.

"A potion inhibitor that can counteract the rejection reaction of artificial arcane circuits." Quinn's eyes widened and he subconsciously asked, "No, arcane circuits are artificial?"

After intensive study before applying, Quinn also gained some understanding of the arcane and arcanists.

If the brain is the terminal for the arcane master to control the arcane, then the arcane circuit is equivalent to the energy that activates the arcane.

The arcane circuit is innate and buried in the body. The arcane circuit can convert mental power into mana and is closely connected to the brain.

Through acquired efforts, humans can even connect arcane circuits into a matrix within their bodies, thereby achieving instant arcane magic without chanting.

However, arcane circuits not only differ in quantity, but also in quality, which almost determines the talent and upper limit of the arcanist. There are only one in ten thousand people who possess top-level circuits, and their offspring are often geniuses who can inherit their parents' circuits.

This is not the case for ordinary people. Even if they have the money to learn arcane arts, they will be limited by the quality of the circuits in their bodies and will not be able to achieve anything.

The arcane circuit can be said to be the lifeblood of an arcane master. Unless they are blood relatives, there is no possibility of transplantation. This is why arcane masters have been so rare since ancient times.

There was a coldness in Ankuya's eyes, and he seemed to be very disgusted with artificial circuits.

"Although we can't create top-level circuits, the technology for artificial arcane circuits was indeed developed by the Academy over thirty years ago. This means that humans will be able to mass-produce arcane masters."

"Fortunately, this technology soon ran into problems. People who had the artificial circuit implanted experienced severe rejection reactions. The higher the quality of the circuit, the more lethal it was. 'Starlight' is an inhibitor developed by the academy to combat this rejection reaction. It can suppress it in the short term and can even relieve pain, replenish mental energy and mana, and repair damaged bodies."

"Fuck, super lollipop?"

Quinn looked at the starlight in Ankuya's hand and exclaimed that it was awesome.

Ankuya smiled and said, "If it's really that useful, the demons will be in big trouble."

"Starlight has a serious drawback. This potion is addictive, and excessive use can cause irreversible damage to the mind. Therefore, the academy sealed both Starlight and artificial circuit technology and destroyed all files related to these two research projects. It is now taboo and cannot be discussed at all."

Quinn immediately looked away, thinking it was for Gingerbread, but unexpectedly it was for Changshu Arnold.

If you take too much of stanozolol, tritorol, and trenbolone, your head will become pointed.

"So, could it be that the three robbers last night were..."

"Yes, they are all arcanists with artificial circuits implanted."

Ankuya put away the Starlight and stood up to leave.

"The academy will investigate this matter. You don't need to worry about it anymore. Don't go out recently to avoid being targeted by Elon. Wait for my news. I will find a way to get you into the school affairs department."

Quinn asked solemnly, "Did you manage it within seven days?"

"Seven days? Get what done?"

"Just to let me join the school affairs department."

"How can it be so fast? The academy isn't mine. Getting a Muggle like you who doesn't know the arcane into the school affairs department is much more troublesome than applying for a teaching assistant position." Ankuya sighed like a company animal. "Why are you in such a hurry?"

"So, I won't go to Grindelwald again within seven days?"

"No," Ankuya said firmly. "Back to school for the new semester is in seven days, and I have a lot to do. Just stay in the apartment and read. Write to me if you need anything."

"That's good, that's good. I promise I won't go anywhere." Quinn breathed a sigh of relief.

System, your talent is shit. Your divination is not as accurate as my urine.

"Then I'll be leaving first. I need to go investigate the jewelry store."

"Wait. Two strange things happened when I was applying for a job yesterday—"

Quinn told the story of the owl that flew away and Amamiya Ningning's divination of his origins.

Ankuya listened quietly, his eyes fixed on the foggy sky outside the window.

"She can't predict anything, don't worry about it. This woman is not very smart."

He said nonchalantly.

"Oh, all right"

"gone."

"Hey wait-"

"what happened again?"

Quinn looked at him eagerly, showing his poor front teeth:

"Aqua, we're out of bread at home. Can you give us some gold coins?"
