"Mr. Quinn, it's only been an hour, how come you burned down your office?"
Inside the registrar's office, Jacob looked at Quinn, who was covered in dust and dirt, and gave him a look of utter confusion.
Quinn said with a stern face, "The student's assignment was a bit too good, it exploded."
"What kind of spirit can explode?" Jacob was even more puzzled.
"Musiling".
"?"
Jacob signed the repair request form. Amamiya Nene's office was part of the main castle of the academy, and protected by the Nibelungen, it was naturally undamaged. Her personal belongings were all intact. Only the piano was damaged in the explosion and was mostly broken apart, requiring major repairs.
The combined power of these mysterious substances when ignited was truly astonishing, nearly shattering the wires of the Undying Totem. Although the students were unharmed due to their school uniforms, they still had to go to the school clinic for a check-up.
"Don't you need to go to the infirmary for a check-up?" Jacob asked Quinn, one of the victims of the explosion.
These kinds of explosions are commonplace in Grindelwald. The higher the grade, the louder the explosions, and the reasons are varied. As long as they don't trigger the Undead Totem Academy, they are all treated as minor incidents. All a teacher needs to do is report it. It's like a training school for Allahhuk.
"I'm fine."
Quinn's trench coat protected him from a lot of damage; ordinary flames could hardly harm him with the coat on, and the impact of an explosion was nothing to him. Only his medium-length hair was singed off in large quantities, making him look rather disheveled.
By the time I got back to the dormitory, it was completely dark.
Quinn had planned to go to the library to read until nine o'clock, but since he had promised to give Celia the sheet music, he came back to work. Unexpectedly, when he opened the door, he saw a petite figure on the sofa.
With her long, gradient hair ranging from lake blue to emerald green, her flowing, gossamer-thin robe, her cold white eyes, and her perfect face, Quinn always felt a sense of unreality whenever he saw Lynn, as if he were gazing upon a work of art by God.
"You're here so early?"
Quinn took off his trench coat and hung it on the hanger, as naturally as a husband coming home to find his wife waiting in the living room. "Wait, I'll take a shower and then I'll make you a pizza."
The little girl turned her head, and after a moment asked in a barely inflected voice, "Hair?"
She was asking Quinn why his hair was burnt.
Thankfully, it was Quinn who had been feeding her junk food every day for the past two months. If it were anyone else, Lynn wouldn't have asked a single question, and she wouldn't have been curious at all, no matter how strange their appearance was.
"The office exploded and was burned."
Quinn explained simply, and Lynn nodded simply. She didn't dwell on why the office exploded, nor did she offer any words of concern like telling Quinn to go to the infirmary for a checkup. The little girl basically didn't make connections when thinking about a problem.
Quinn walked to the bathroom mirror and started fixing his hair under the light. His original hairstyle, after being aged by the system, was similar to Professor Snape's in Harry Potter, but now, after being burned, it looked neither long nor short, like a bald monkey.
He didn't care too much about his appearance; he was leaving tomorrow anyway, so he immediately decided to shave his head short and took out his wand to conjure a katana for shaving. Unexpectedly, he heard Lin calling him: "—Come here."
"Ok?"
Quinn curiously peeked out from the bathroom. Lynn sat on the sofa, staring straight at him without offering any explanation.
Quinn walked over, and Lynn pointed to her thigh, "Head."
"Huh?" "Come to my pillow."
".do what?"
"Come to my pillow." The little girl was quiet and didn't say much.
Quinn hesitated for a moment, lowered his head, looked at her, and lowered it again when Lin didn't react. Finally, he rested his head on her knee in an awkward position.
To avoid being discovered by the teachers, Lynn never wore her school uniform when she came to see Quinn, and naturally, she didn't wear white stockings. Her skin was as delicate as silk, and it had very little body temperature, making it cool and comfortable to use as a pillow.
"What are you going to do?" Quinn asked helplessly, bending over.
A small hand suddenly brushed against his hair, and it felt like a breeze was blowing through his hair.
“Switch to the other side.” Lin’s tone remained flat, showing no concept of what it meant to offer a man a lap pillow.
Quinn touched his head, and the half of his hair that Lin had stroked seemed much neater. He realized what Lin was doing, so he went around to the other side and showed the other half of his messy hair, facing her.
I'm crazy
Upon seeing a tiny slit, Quinn quickly closed his eyes; it must be the folds of his little belly.
Lin didn't seem to care that he had seen her naked, or rather, she didn't even realize that she was naked and shouldn't be lying there like that. She gently brushed him away before nodding, saying with a hint of smugness—
"The magic to make your hairstyle look better."
Quinn sat up in shock and went to the bathroom. In the mirror, his hair was still the same length as when it was singed, but the style had completely changed. It had become a neat yet slightly messy middle part, with elegant curls at the ends. His temperament had changed drastically from a gloomy teacher to a refined scoundrel, making his otherwise ordinary face look much more handsome.
Quinn was reminded of the psychiatrist played by Cillian Murphy in Nolan's film "The Batman," who also had the same hairstyle.
Light a fire in the fireplace, place a cast iron pan and a frying pan inside, knead the pre-fermented dough into patties, spread with tomato sauce and cheese, and coat the chicken tails and snake drumsticks that have been marinated overnight with flour and breadcrumbs.
The sizzling sound of oil filled the room with the aroma of pizza and fried chicken. As the food was being baked, Quinn also prepared milk tea—a base of buffalo milk with plenty of syrup and jam. Even by a primary school student's standards, this milk tea was a bit too sweet, but it was just right for Lynn. When these foods were placed in front of the little girl, her eyes seemed to light up.
Compared to two months ago, although she still had a cold and indifferent expression, Lin could express "joy" more clearly when faced with these high-calorie foods, as evidenced by her slightly widened eyes.
She didn't rush to eat, but looked up at Quinn and said, "Pizza and fried chicken?"
"What?" Quinn wiped his hands with a towel. He believed that his cooking skills hadn't deteriorated much since he was working. This pizza and fried chicken were of a standard that could be sold in Ashwell, and were much better than what Grindelwald's canteen served.
"Why are you making two portions today?" Lin asked, tilting her head up.
Quinn usually makes pizza or fried chicken, claiming that children shouldn't eat too much junk food while they're growing. But even after two months of eating high-calorie meals every day, Lin hasn't gained any weight and remains thin and small.
“Hmm,” Quinn said, a complex look flashing in his eyes, “Thank you for fixing my hair.”
You can eat whatever you want today. If you need more, I'll make you more.
After saying that, he stopped looking at her and sat down at the desk by the bed to write sheet music.
Lin tilted her head and quickly made a decision.
"Use the magic to make your hairstyle look good once or twice a day from now on."
“No, this is a first-edition limited edition.” Quinn continued writing, his tone calm: “There won’t be any more.”
Lin stopped protesting, first taking a big gulp of milk tea from her glass before grabbing the pizza. She hadn't gotten tired of it after two months, but her eating manners had improved considerably; she was no longer so impatient, like a little hamster enjoying its winter food.
