Mystery: When the Fool Meets the Masked Fool

Chapter 583 The Fool's Dream

Chapter 583 The Fool's Dream

After being escorted to the front of the altar by her parents, the bride first bowed to Benson before turning toward the emblem and the priest.

Benson returned the greeting and then turned to face away.

Once the bride's parents were seated, the pastor began, "Under the watchful eye of the merciful Mr. Fool, I will witness a sacred marriage."

"Praise the Fool." All the guests present, if they were followers of "Mr. Fool," simultaneously raised their right hand and placed it on their left chest, at the position of their heart.

This includes Klein.

Of course, Mr. Fool was watching right there.

What no one present could have imagined was that the great Fool was not looking down from the heavens, but was sitting in the audience.

There were also devotees of the goddess of the night present, who pointed to stars on their chests in praise of the goddess.

However, it's hard to say how many of those who praise the goddess are truly believers in the goddess of night.

After all, this is both the Church of Fools and the Church of Joy.

Once everyone had calmed down, the pastor turned to the bride and said:
"Ms. Ruth Brooke, do you take this man beside you to be your husband, to be your wife, and to live out the rest of your life, in sickness and in health, to love, respect, cherish, and love him, till death do you part?"

The woman named Ruth glanced at the Fool's emblem, then looked at the Night emblem that had been specially added to the audience not far away, and nodded solemnly:
"I am willing."

Benson's smile returned.

The pastor turned to look at him and said:
"Mr. Benson Moretti, do you take this lady beside you to be your wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love, respect, cherish, and love her, till death do you part?"

Benson immediately nodded and said:
"I am willing."

Upon seeing this and hearing these words, Melissa's vision blurred instantly, and she felt an overwhelming joy within her.
After going through all sorts of things, the family finally welcomed a new member.

Moreover, they are no longer the middle-income family that had to carefully budget every day.

She subconsciously turned her head and looked at where Klein was sitting, and saw that Bishop Serres of the church had also arrived at the scene.

Melissa was fairly familiar with Serris, after all, she had bought her "Predictor" potion and Benson's "Candle Scholar" potion from Serris.

Knowing that most extraordinary beings are sensitive to sight, Melissa didn't pay much attention to Klein chatting with Archbishop Serres. She turned her gaze back to the altar, focusing on her brother's wedding.

When the pastor announced the marriage, Benson and Ruth officially became husband and wife, Melissa smiled.

"That's wonderful," Serres exclaimed. "A perfect ending, isn't it?"

“Yes.” Klein nodded, then changed the subject, “It seems there are more and more ‘perfect endings’ lately.”

"For example?" Serres raised his head.

Klein didn't look at Serres, but simply replied with a single word: "All."

After a few seconds of pause, Klein added, "It's like the whole world is heading towards a happy end. No twists and turns, no harm, no ups and downs, no tragedy."

"Is that so? Congratulations! [Anti-Despair Equation] a great success." Serres clapped lightly.

But Klein simply pressed down on his top hat with one hand: "But that's not to your liking."

"A story without twists and turns is meaningless; you wouldn't like it."

"So, I'm more inclined to believe that you're holding back something big for me."

“Ha, that’s called paranoia,” Serres replied.

“But that’s not what I think. I feel like you’re trying to mess with me.” Klein looked into Serris’s eyes.

"Well, it's not impossible, but you have to fool yourself about your gender first. You don't need to become a woman completely, just blur the lines."

"Get lost," Klein chuckled, shaking his head. "You really are..."

He suddenly transferred the smell of the nearby public toilet into the air in front of Serres.

"Ok!"

Klein leaned back.

He was switched places with Serres in a split second.

"Haha." Padmon let out a carefree laugh.

"Whose side are you on..." Klein muttered, "It's really going too far to laugh at me like that."

“But it was really funny just now,” Padmon replied.

Klein pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head.

Using EtherEdit to restore the air in front of him to normal, Klein looked at Serres again: "So, you really didn't cause any trouble?"

“I don’t know,” Serres shook his head.

“See?” Klein shrugged. “I told you I didn’t wrong you.” Serres shook his head. “Anyway, I didn’t do anything.”

Klein paused for a moment, then looked up at Benson giving his speech on stage.

A few seconds later, he suddenly said to Serres, "When I first recalled Sunday, I was wondering why I would summon a Sunday with its own thoughts."

"Based on my understanding, most people on the path of destiny do not have this ability."

“Even if the walkers of Harmony and Order are different, then why do I summon the Sunday that simulates the universe instead of the real person?”

Klein turned to look at Serres: "Theoretically, if Sunday Bro has the ability to respond to clones, then what he summons should be the real him. If he doesn't, then what he summons should have no consciousness from beginning to end."

"So you're the one who did it, aren't you?" Klein propped his head up with one hand.

Serres nodded immediately: "Yes, I brought them."

“As expected.” Klein nodded knowingly. “It is indeed something you can do.”

Klein continued, "I've always been curious why Brother Sunday used [Primordial Action] when he first appeared. Normally, it's not an offensive ability. Its effect is the reorganization of order."

"Maybe it's because he's handsome?" Serres asked with a smile.

“If it were you, it would certainly be a good reason,” Klein shook his head, “but for Brother Sunday, this reason doesn’t hold water.”

"At the time, he told me he had made deals with some people here. As for who they were, I couldn't hear him even if he said so."

"Hidden... Dream..."

“It seems I can guess who it is quite easily.” Klein glanced at the Black Night Emblem that had been moved in because of Benson’s wedding.

"So it's a goddess, right?" Klein lowered his eyes. "The goddess extends dreams, and in the beginning, she blurred the boundary between dreams and reality."

"Besides providing a foundation for the dream's protection of Earth during the subsequent world war, there must be some other reasons behind this."

Klein mobilized the Source Castle, granting himself the "Decryption Scholar" ability at Sequence Level 0.

"The simulated universe you provided exists based on dreams..."

“So, the simulated universe started to gradually overlap with reality from that time, right?” Klein raised his head, his gaze passing through the ceiling to the astral plane and the barrier standing there.

"When did you first discover this?" Serres shook his head slightly.

“That was the first tarot session after I attended the gathering you and Russell hosted for the remnants of the past,” Klein replied. “Back then, we were having tarot sessions every week, but that time it felt like there were more than three weeks between sessions.”

"At that time, I began to have doubts."

"After all, I was on the Source Castle at the time, and to some extent, I instinctively borrowed the extraordinary abilities of the Three Ghosts, such as the 'Deciphering Scholar'."

"At that time, the simulated universe had just encompassed the entire Earth and there were still some 'loopholes' that led me to notice the anomaly."

"Although nothing like that happened afterward, I still felt like something was off."

"Although I don't know why you pushed me to develop the [anti-despair equation], I just feel like something's not right."

"So now, Earth is in a huge [simulated universe], right?"

"Being enclosed inside the [simulated universe] is like becoming one of its testing grounds."

"Do you think I'm a very smart person?" Serres asked with a smile. "I can't do something like 'encompassing reality with a simulated universe,' that's the specialty of [geniuses]."

“I’ve heard in the simulated universe that the king of Screw Star is very good at writing all sorts of equations about reality.” Klein looked into Serres’s eyes. “[The Anti-Despair Equation], it’s not something I can research, nor does it seem like something you would actively research. Because you wouldn’t like an unchanging 'happy ending'.”

“I don’t believe that Slogoom did nothing after coming to Earth,” Klein replied. “I also don’t believe that a genius would leave Earth, an experimental site full of source matter, unattended.”

"So now, Earth has become a testing ground for geniuses, right?"

"And you."

PS:

This chapter reveals many foreshadowing elements; for more details, please refer to chapters 211, 494, etc.

There are too many to remember them all.

There are several further hints, such as Russell using the equation to indicate that he wants to take sides, Klein accidentally seeing the data stream, and the description of the sun gods "transforming from the virtual to the real" when they pass through the barrier.

In short, there were many, many hints, probably twenty or thirty times.

But it was never noticed.
