Mystery: When the Fool Meets the Masked Fool

Chapter 375 Edsack's Second Path

Chapter 375 Edsack's Second Way
The bullet pierced Edsack's head, but there was still no blood.

Edsack's clothes suddenly ripped open at the back, and a hand made of insects tore through his skin and clothes, reaching for William's heart.

William quickly took a step back, raising his hand to shield his chest.

The next second, his eyes widened.

Ah!

The hand ignored the dragon scales, skin, and hard bones, piercing through his palm and chest protection without hindrance, entering his chest and seizing his heart.

A door was opened in his palm and chest!

"Apprentice...?"

Why didn't his spirituality give him an early warning?
At this moment, the spiritual intuition that one can only avoid and not resist arises.

His spiritual intuition was delayed.

This is the extraordinary ability of "bewitching and corrupting the world".

As William's heart was crushed, blood gushed from his mouth, and his body instantly transformed into a completely spiritual state.

For a spiritual being, the heart is not a fatal weakness. However, a spiritual being that has failed to enter the vast ocean of the collective unconscious is quite vulnerable.

A flower burning with black flames bloomed above his head, but he, who had no physical form, couldn't withstand it for even a second.

William's mind was instantly burned to ashes. Without the replenishment of his extraordinary abilities, his body immediately transformed back into a physical form, becoming a headless male corpse.

"Die."

Edsack then slowly stood up and uttered a harsh remark.

He didn't make any threats before the fight started because he felt like a clown if he failed to defeat the opponent.

However, there's no problem if you kill it and then replace it.

With William's death, the barrier in the room, which had been twisted based on William's act of "closing the door," collapsed with a roar.

Edsack's arm behind his back slowly disintegrated into a pile of insect corpses scattered on the ground.

“Hurry up and summon him, you know I’m not good at this,” Edsack said to Triss with a smile. “And speed up the extraction of his extraordinary abilities.”

After saying that, he turned to look out the window.

It was almost dawn, but there were still stars in the sky.

Edsack looked at the stars and made a simple divination.

"The commotion here has most likely been detected, and the official extraordinary personnel will arrive in less than an hour."

“I only need three minutes,” Triss smiled knowingly, “but hopefully you won’t only have three minutes.”

…………

The next day, Monday morning, Klein got up on time and, with the help of his personal valet Richardson, put on his coat.

For the sake of "the dignity of the rich," such things require the help of servants.

This made Klein feel like he had polio.

After helping Klein get dressed, Richardson immediately retreated to the side in a fluster, because for some reason, he felt that the intricately patterned, classic silver mirror on the dressing table was looking at him with envy.

"Did I sleep too much last night?" Richardson wondered.

As soon as he arrived at the restaurant, he saw Walter standing at the door, waiting respectfully.

"Sir, Congressman Macht invites you to afternoon tea on Wednesday afternoon." Walter delivered today's invitation with a stiff, serious, and meticulous demeanor.

Klein smiled and nodded, as if nothing had happened, and said, "I understand."

He seemed perfectly normal, showing no signs that he had just fought with his alter ego the night before, or that he had spent the entire night in his dream watching "Zhen Huan leading the Eighteen Bronze Men to beat up the Imperial Guard 00 Fa."

He then entered the restaurant and began to enjoy the fairly refined but increasingly repetitive food. The breakfast selection was rather limited. Klein finished his meal, put down his knife and fork, sighed, and said, "I miss home a little. I'll have the chef prepare a Dixie pie tomorrow."

“Yes, sir, I should have thought of that sooner,” the housekeeper, Tanya, replied apologetically. “Would you like some sweet iced tea prepared?”

This isn't a specialty of Dipsy, but it's a part of the Holy Communion in the Church of Joy. It usually comes with Dipsy Pie.

Klein smiled. "Of course."

Then he put down his knife and fork and went for a walk in the garden.

Just then, Padma returned and jumped over the fence into the garden.

Klein had always been curious. Before meeting Alicia, he could understand why Padmon stayed with him. But why was she still following him now?

But Padma didn't say anything, and he didn't ask deliberately, only having a vague guess.

This Alicia is the real Alicia who truly existed, and she is merely a materialized memory.

She might not want to replace the real Padre in Alicia's heart.

Hello, cat.

“Padau, your extraordinary ability has arrived.” Klein smiled and took out an iron cigarette case containing the extraordinary ability of “Cataclysm Priest”, which had been sealed by the Spiritual Wall.

As he expected, the extraordinary attribute seemed to be blown by the wind, falling directly out of the cigarette box and landing on Padmon's paw.

He chuckled softly, finding fate quite amusing.

Suddenly, he heard the doorbell ring.

Amidst the clanging and banging, Klein entered the living room, glanced at Richardson, and the personal valet immediately stepped forward and opened the door.

Standing outside were two police officers in black and white checkered uniforms. Judging from their shoulder insignia, one was a senior inspector and the other a sergeant.

“Officer, what’s the matter?” Richardson asked on behalf of his employer.

The senior inspector was a tall, thin man with dark hair hidden under his hat, only his sideburns showing color. He glanced around the room and smiled gently:

“I’ve come to see Mr. Dawn Dantes. There’s a case involving him.”

"What case?" Klein asked as he walked slowly toward the door. "I am Dawn Dantes."

As he spoke, he subtly observed the two inspectors.

The extraordinary are most likely those who have taken the path of the sleepless.

After introducing himself, he politely said, "Officers, I don't know how to address you. If things are complicated, why don't we go to my meeting room and talk over tea?"

"No need for tea," the sheriff declined with a smile, "but we'll have to ask your servants."

He paused for a moment, then finally got to the point: "Mr. Dawn Dantes, do you know someone named William Sykes?"

"He died, in a tavern nearby."

“Yes, I have,” Klein replied. “I met him at the dinner party at Congressman Macht’s house last night.”

"Dead?" Klein feigned surprise and astonishment, but inwardly he was not at all surprised.

He was targeted by two Sequence Fives, and it was a premeditated assassination attempt. If he didn't die, who would?

Klein nodded, replying that he had stayed home since returning that evening. He then turned to Richardson and said, "Go and ask Walter to come over."

Soon, the butler, Walter, wearing white gloves, came down from the second floor and answered the same question.

After obtaining Dawn Dantes's consent, the two officers questioned Richardson and the other servants, but found nothing amiss.

They didn't linger; they politely said goodbye and went to visit their neighbors.
