Mystery: When the Fool Meets the Masked Fool
Chapter 337 The Tarot Society Opposes
Chapter 337 The Tarot Society Opposes
"Let's go back to Rune today." Klein glanced at his pocket watch, put on his coat, took off his top hat, and walked out of the hotel room with Padmon.
He planned to go to the mountains outside the port of Olavi to watch the sunset after dinner, and then use the anchor point to return to Backlund.
The idea originated from a bestselling novel by Leon Mustang, who was born in Oláwi but settled in Backlund at the age of 20. In the book, he passionately described the sunset over the port of San Draco Hill, considering it the most beautiful view he had ever seen.
The tarot session had ended more than two hours ago, but Klein was still pondering the information he had heard earlier.
Klein took a carriage out of the city and walked to the foot of Mount San Draco, reaching the not-so-high peak in just one hour.
He didn't use any extraordinary abilities; he simply enjoyed the feeling of walking to allow himself to temporarily clear his mind.
Time passed second by second, and the sun gradually set, turning the azure ocean to the left of the mountain into a fiery hue, while casting a golden glow over the lush green forests and expansive fields to the right.
Everything was so pure and so beautiful.
There was no sign whatsoever that war was about to break out.
Even Klein, with his demigod-level spirituality, cannot decipher the war from the revelations of these environments.
All the colors burst forth with their final brilliance at this moment, then gradually faded until darkness fell. Ships entered the harbor, carriages entered the city, and busy people returned home along the roads between the wheat fields and orchards.
As darkness began to envelop the land, tiny, warm lights began to appear both inside and outside the city, like sparkling jewels on black velvet.
It's really beautiful... Klein admired it for a moment until the lights representing individual families came into his view.
He reviewed the events of the tarot reading session...
“The Seven Gods acquiesced, Mr. Devil, do you mean Mr. Fool did not acquiesce?” Audrey asked.
“Yes, that’s right.” Serres nodded matter-of-factly. “Otherwise, I wouldn’t be here talking about these things. I hate trouble the most.”
This was the first time Klein didn't mentally complain when Serres lifted him up at the Tarot meeting.
His fingers tapped lightly on the bronze table, making a soft, rhythmic sound.
“Padora, tonight I’m going to advance to Sequence 5. Tomorrow, let’s go hunting Blood Above to help you get that ‘Winner’s’ seal.” Klein suddenly said to Padora.
“Okay.” Padmon nodded.
Blood Admiral Señor: What an undeserved calamity!
Klein silently turned around and walked back down the mountain path, surrounded by trees that had turned black. He then walked a distance and, for the first time in a long time, hired a carriage on the edge of the port city.
Klein remained silent throughout the journey. The carriage moved smoothly forward, and the elegant, dark-black lampposts receded quietly into the distance under the dim yellow light.
After an unknown amount of time, Klein returned to the hotel, took out his key, and opened the door to his room.
Inside the room, the bed, desk, and chairs lay quietly in the deep darkness, silently reflecting a faint crimson moonlight.
Klein closed the door very gently, walked to the window, and stood motionless in the shadow cast by the curtains for a long time.
“Great master, you… seem to be in a bad mood.” On the table, Arodes suddenly lit up with a silver light, and red text appeared.
The red lettering was very light, giving the impression of being handled with some carelessness.
"No... not really. After all, it has nothing to do with me..." Klein replied softly.
But can I really accept this outcome?
“Arods, I have something to ask you,” Klein suddenly asked.
“Yes, great master, I am ready.” Arodes visibly became cheerful.
"I ask you, is it worth it to exchange the lives of countless ordinary people for one person to ascend to godhood?"
“It’s not worth it!” Arodes replied decisively, “because it displeased you!”
Klein was stunned. He suddenly remembered what Serres had said.
"If you make me happy, I'll make you even happier and more comfortable. If you make me unhappy, I'll make you even more unhappy and uncomfortable."
"..."
So that’s it.
Klein's lips curled into a cheerful smile.
Yes, that's exactly it. There's no such thing as worth it or not.
I wanted to do it, so I did. Aren't we joyful travelers always a bit irrational?
Besides, I'm a fool, a complete idiot. I don't need to care about so much.
If George III's deification ceremony were disrupted by a Sequence 5...
This is so much fun.
Klein waved, and Arodos was taken into the Theater of Domination. Looking out the window, he reached out and stroked Padmon's fur, his figure gradually dimming before teleporting away through the anchor point.
It was brightly lit outside.
…………
The sun had almost sunk below the horizon, and the birds in the sky were barely visible.
The crimson moon rose, staining the sea blood red.
On the undulating waves of the Sunia Sea, the Azure Avenger was like a leaf, sometimes tossed high and sometimes swept down, but without showing any signs of capsizing.
Alger stood on the deck, a glass of red wine in his hand, gazing at the distant waves.
The Blue Avenger's course has changed, and it is now heading towards the coast of Fussack.
Alger plans to go there and use the conflict between the two countries to digest the "Wastelander" potion in one fell swoop. It would be even better if he could also take on the role of the "Sandwalker" in advance.
As for George III's ascension to godhood, if this is indeed Mr. Fool's idea, then assisting a great being in "destroying" an ascension ceremony, even with minimal effort, is still an act of service. It would undoubtedly benefit his future.
He didn't consider himself a good person and had no intention of stopping the war.
Moreover, he is very self-aware; even now, he can't do much on the battlefield at the angel level.
Still too weak, lacking power...
If that's the case, why bother doing it?
It's still just a caterpillar.
Alger's hand, which wasn't holding the glass, was stroking the wrist of his other hand, where there was a bracelet that was constantly emitting electricity.
But so what?
If you do nothing because you have no power, then you are not even as good as a caterpillar that doesn't know what's good for you.
How could Alger be such an unambitious piece of dog shit?
Alger flicked his wrist, pouring the untouched red wine into the sea, staining the water beneath him red before quickly diluting it.
Under the crimson moonlight, nothing could be seen.
Insignificant people go unnoticed, but so what? It's the unnoticed little things that sneak into the elephant's dung hemorrhoids to treat his hemorrhoids.
Alger turned and walked toward his room, his right hand fingers twitching slightly.
Having to put on an act in front of the crew, being an undercover agent is such a hassle and so frustrating experience.
