Chapter 26 Preservation (13)

The Silver City exploration team went deep into the ruins. Even though the huge dome had collapsed a little, it was still very spacious for the tall people in Silver City.

"This should be the remains left by the giants." said the guardian.

"Then you are quite knowledgeable." The skinny man poked the guardian's kidney.

"Hey, it's itchy, Mouse." The skinny man's nickname was Mouse. The guardian moved sideways and pulled away Mouse's mischievous hand.

The mouse poked the guardian twice more while he wasn't paying attention. The guardian turned around and was about to slap the mouse on the head. As soon as he raised his hand, he froze for a moment, not knowing what to do. The mouse then jumped up and slapped the guardian on the head.

"Be serious," Colin said in a calm voice. His tone was calm, but it made both of them quiet down.

"Yes, Chief." The guardian replied in a muffled voice.

"Okay, Chief." The mouse nodded in agreement.

Colin sprinkled some unknown powder into the huge torch in his hand, then raised it high. The flame immediately turned silver-white and became brighter.

A huge light spread from the torch, illuminating a circle with a diameter of about 700 meters with Colin as the center.

"Don't leave me within 300 meters." Although he had said it many times, Colin still gave a reminder this time.

"Yes." Everyone responded, and even the most jumpy mouse did not act recklessly this time.

As everyone responded to Colin, a faint silver-white light shone from everyone, as if they were covered with a layer of silver-white invisible armor.

From now on, all damage suffered by everyone within 300 meters around Colin will be borne by Colin Iliad.

The six of them spread out slightly, with the Guardian leading the way, shield in one hand and hammer in the other, while Mouse and a psychiatrist holding a torch followed a little behind. However, here, "psychiatrist" is called "psychoanalyst."

The only woman is an "appraiser," sandwiched between the three in front and Colin in the back with another "reaper." They are a married couple, one holding a torch while the other ignites the flame. The predecessor of the "reaper" is the "arsonist," also known as the "fire mage" in ancient times.

At the back was Colin, holding a torch in one hand and a heavy sword in the other, and was responsible for guarding the rear.

"Chief, there seems to be something over there." The mouse pointed to a pile of earth caused by a collapse.

"Annis, you and Berg go see if there is anything useful in the pile over there. Stuart, you guys stay on the side to provide support." Colin commanded from the rear.

"Got it." The appraiser, the harvester, and the guardian responded in unison.

Several people maintained their formation and came to the collapsed mound. Harvester Berg protected appraiser Anis and moved forward, while Guardian Stuart and the two people behind him kept watch nearby.

Colin turned his back, alert to what was behind him.

Berg began to carefully dig up the dirt. As a skilled hunter and conspirator, he was most familiar with all possible contingencies. His clairvoyance made it easy to see through traps. As the dirt was gradually removed, the contents beneath were revealed: a battered box.

Berg didn't move forward to touch her, but retreated with Annes.

"What's going on?" Colin asked.

"I didn't find any trap." Berg shook his head and said.

"I didn't notice anything either." Annis replied.

Colin nodded and threw a stone at the box.

Click.

Nothing happens.

Berg sent a floating ball of flame flying over and circling the box, but nothing happened either.

Berg took a deep breath, infused the flame with more spiritual energy, and approached the box. Psychological analyst Anthony quickly walked over to Berg and closely observed his mental state.

After the flames were dissipated, Berg opened his eyes and looked at Anthony. Anthony pinched Berg's shoulders to help him relax his muscles that were tense due to tension.

"It's okay, it's okay. Relax. Your spirit is not polluted."

Berg exhaled the air that had been trapped in his chest and motioned for his wife to come forward and examine it.

Annes turned on her clairvoyance and stepped forward cautiously, followed closely by Anthony and Berg.

She carefully picked up the box, ready to throw it away at any moment. She turned the box around, then opened it, and a burst of light emanated from it.

"This is an extraordinary item." Annis concluded, "The effect is that when opened, it emits spiritual light, which can, to a certain extent, issue simple instructions to low-intelligence creatures that are illuminated. The side effect is probably that it absorbs the holder's spirit and blood when it glows." She closed the box again.

"Put it here and keep going," Colin ordered. It was best not to keep things you hadn't fully understood on you at this time; it wouldn't be too late to come back and get them after the exploration was over.

Annes didn't hesitate and immediately put the box back in its place. Berg stepped forward to fill it with soil, trying to keep it consistent with the original one.

Afterwards, everyone continued to explore deeper.

PS: I got up late, so I'll update a third of the chapter first and continue later. Also, this chapter is a bit more serious, so let's see how it goes. If it's good, I'll alternate between the serious and the crazy chapters. If not, I'll just keep updating the crazy chapters.

This chapter is a bit too serious and I just don't feel comfortable with it.
