Training the Heavens

Chapter 229 Xu Jingyou is here

Chapter 229 Xu Jingyou is back
"How much did you take?" Zhang Zengxiang came down from the stage, and Li Xingfa hurried over to ask.

"One thousand two hundred and forty-six and a half yuan! The feed factory is doing well this year, and I've already earned this much before I've even finished a year. I'm sure it'll be even more next year." Zhang Zengxiang rubbed the money in his hands with a beaming face. "I've never seen so much money in my life!"

"The performance dividends are so much, plus other dividends and regular salary, you have earned more than three thousand this year, right?" Looking at the money, Li Xingfa's heart felt like a fire was on fire, and he was full of enthusiasm. He is now a team leader in the transport team, and his dividends will definitely not be less than Zhang Zengxiang's.

"Your family received three shares of the dividends, and we have become a family with an annual income of ten thousand yuan this year. This was unimaginable in the past!" Zhang Zengxiang's children are still studying in the county middle school, and he and his wife are the only ones working. In terms of total income, they cannot compare with Li Xingfa, the eldest son, who also works at a ranch.

"Your child is able to study and I heard that he can go to college in the future. When he graduates, he will become a government official. Why doesn't my child have such a brain?" Li Xingfa was actually more envious. How could earning a little more salary compare to having a government official in the family?
Zhang Zengxiang shook his head. "He'll probably only be able to get into a junior college. If he's assigned back to the county after graduation, he might as well come to work at the ranch. Lao Xu also wants him to come back. If he studies a relevant major, he'll get paid more."

After more than two years of trial, Xu Lingjun adjusted the income ratio of the ranch. The average dividend did not increase much, but the performance dividend and job salary increased a lot, especially for some key positions, such as Haisheng and Guo Lei. They earned more than the commissioner of the administrative office in a year. With such a good prospect in front of him, Zhang Zengxiang no longer cared much about the cadre position in the county.

If his child has excellent academic performance and can be admitted to a good university in a big city like Beijing or Shanghai, and can stay there after graduation, he naturally hopes that his child can take root in the big city.

But if it were an ordinary school, instead of being assigned to other factories or counties for such a low salary, it would be better to come back to the ranch to help. He has even thought about letting his child study an agriculture-related major so that he can get started quickly when he comes back, and the child will not refuse. Maybe after four or five years, he will be able to return to the ranch and make rapid progress along the path that Guo Lei has taken.

"Haha!" Li Xingfa suddenly thought of something amusing. "You don't have a high level of education, so I'm afraid you won't be able to become a factory director. But your son is different. If in a few years, your son becomes your boss, that would be interesting."

"Hehe, if that day really comes, I will definitely set up a few tables to celebrate." Zhang Zengxiang didn't mind at all, and was even looking forward to it.

At his age, what he most hopes for is for his children to become successful. If his children can really achieve such a promising future, he will be overjoyed.

After distributing dividends and holding the annual summary meeting, Xu Lingjun finally had a rare moment of free time. He had been on duty during the Spring Festival for two consecutive years and planned to have a good rest this year, so he went back and asked Li Xiuzhi to pack up.

"We're going to Beijing for the New Year this year. Yesterday, a telegram came from Beijing saying that our house has been returned. It's a good opportunity to go back and take a look."

Xu Lingjun had been keeping an eye on the policy on returning private property. As soon as the news came back from the capital, he quickly wrote an application. After a long wait and seeking help from some people, he finally got the result.

"Then we have to hurry and pack up before the New Year. That way, we can have a good New Year's Eve. Qingqing, Yueyue, we are going to the capital. Are you happy?"

"Let's go to the capital, let's go to the capital!" Yueyue is still young, but Qingqing has already seen what the capital looks like on TV.

The next day, they boarded a train to Beijing. After two days of busy work, Xu Lingjun finally completed the paperwork, and the courtyard house was back in his possession. This was thanks to the fact that it had previously been used as an office space by a company; if it had been allocated to ordinary residents, vacating it would have been a hassle. "It's such a large courtyard. Who will take care of it when we're no longer in Beijing?" Li Xiuzhi asked, taking the two children on a thorough tour of the courtyard. This gave her a new appreciation for Xu Lingjun's background.

"I've thought it through. Now that the ranch is becoming more and more prosperous, it's time to try to enter the Beijing market. I'll rent the front yard to the ranch and let them set up a sales point here. We'll charge a lower rent and let them help look after the back yard as well." Xu Lingjun said.

The house still needs someone to live in it. It will easily deteriorate if it is left empty. Xu Lingjun was not comfortable renting it to outsiders, so it was just right to hand it over to the people at the ranch.

Xu Lingjun is rich now. The dividends and salary he and his wife receive every year are not a small amount. Add to that the extra income they earn from the Qilian Mountains, and buying furniture and appliances is not a problem at all.

Taking advantage of the fact that there was no holiday yet, Xu Lingjun quickly spent money to decorate several rooms. On New Year's Eve, their family of four stayed in the house at the back of the yard, ate New Year's Eve dinner around the stove, and spent the New Year comfortably.

During the meal, Xu Lingjun talked about plans for next year. "Your parents haven't come to Beijing yet, right? This year was too rushed. Next year, we'll invite them to come to Beijing to celebrate the New Year. It's time for our family to get together and have a good New Year."

"Well, in the middle of the year, we will go back to Sichuan together and invite them to come in person!" Li Xiuzhi agreed readily. Now that the Li family's situation has improved, coming to the capital will not be much of a burden for them.

Over the next few days, Xu Lingjun and his family wandered around Beijing, visiting temple fairs, watching flag-raising ceremonies, and even dining at Quanjude roast duck, Donglaishun hot pot, and casserole dishes at Shaguoju.
These old brands have not declined yet and the food tastes quite good. Li Xiuzhi and the children were very happy eating it.

On the fourth day of the New Year, all units started to work, but Xu Lingjun was not in a hurry. He planned to wait until the eighth or ninth day before going back.

I took my family to visit Beihai Park that day and had scallion-fried sea cucumber and nine-turn large intestine at Cuihualou. We didn't get home until around four in the afternoon. As soon as I arrived at the door, I saw someone waiting outside.

The visitor identified himself as a member of the Foreign Affairs Department. After verifying Xu Lingjun's identity, they said cheerfully, "What a coincidence! Fortunately, you are in the capital, otherwise we would have to send a telegram to notify you to come."

"What's the matter?" Xu Lingjun asked. He had actually guessed the purpose of these two people.

"I have good news for you. Your father, Mr. Xu Jingyou, has just returned from the United States. He has asked us to find you. You and your son can now be reunited!"
