Chapter 454 Electromagnetic Waves

San Francisco isn't too far from Los Angeles, so when the nuclear bomb exploded, people in Los Angeles also felt some of it.

"Elise? Wasn't she at FEA headquarters in New York State? How come she's in San Francisco?"

"I just learned from headquarters that Ms. Elise bypassed the FEA and contacted the White House directly in order to capture Genevieve Aristide."

Roy remained silent for a long while before speaking.

"I'm heading to San Francisco right now!"

“Mr. Black, why don’t you join us? The FEA, the National Guard, and the FBI are all heading to San Francisco.”

"I understand!"

After hanging up the phone, Roy suddenly grabbed Mary's arm and stepped on the gas. In just a few seconds, Mary rolled her eyes and collapsed.

“Jennifer, I’m going to San Francisco. Keep an eye on the other people. I’m worried something might happen.”

Jennifer lazily opened her eyes; she had just finished the battle and was now enjoying the afterglow.

"Has something serious happened?"

"San Francisco has just been attacked by a nuclear bomb!"

These words woke up several women who were still awake.

Roy nodded.

"I'm worried this is just the beginning, so it's best to be careful!"

At this point, Madison spoke up.

"There's a safe house in the basement of this villa that can provide food and water for ten people for a year. We can hide there if anything happens!"

Roy glanced at Madison in surprise. He had lived in the villa for so long and had no idea that this safe house existed.

As expected, wealthy people are afraid of death. Many wealthy people have built permanent safe houses in their basements so they can hide there if anything happens.

"Alright, you all better follow Jennifer's orders and wait for me to come back, Claudia!"

As he spoke, Roy had already dressed and summoned Claudia to prepare for departure.

Roy rode Claudia to the Dolphin Hotel, where several transport planes were parked and almost all of the FEAR team members had gathered.

Los Angeles is currently under martial law. It's too close to San Francisco, and the city government is preventing residents from leaving their homes for fear of incidents.

"Mr. Blake, are you ready?"

Roy nodded, then patted Claudia on the shoulder.

"Could I bring my motorcycle with me?"

"No problem, let's get on the transport plane first!"

All eyes in America are now focused on San Francisco, where the events that have occurred are the most serious in America since the attack on Pearl Harbor in World War II, even more serious than the 9/11 attacks next year.

After all, 9/11 only involved two buildings, while San Francisco involved the entire city.

The White House must be furious. To have something like this happen during one's term is just incredibly unlucky.

Roy and Gerald arrived on the outskirts of San Francisco around 1 a.m. on a transport plane.

"We can't go any further; there's still residual radiation in the city! Let's get to the National Guard camp first!"

The National Guard arrived first outside San Francisco and has begun setting up relief camps.

Even though a nuclear explosion would likely leave few survivors in the city, the show still had to be put on.

Gerald led Roy to the commander of the National Guard.

"What's going on now?"

"What else can we do? The Geiger index in the city center has already exceeded the limit. We can only watch from here. The radiation protection suits are still on their way."

America has been at peace for a long time, and many protective measures have become ineffective. Most of the National Guard members are just there to get by; it's impossible to expect them to do anything.

Roy pulled Gerald aside to talk.

“Mr. Olin, I’ve decided to go into the city to take a look.”

"I need to at least check on Elise's condition first."

Roy and Elise have at least had physical intimacy; they can't just let it go like this.

"This military terminal has all the information you want; you can even use it to access satellites to see current events in San Francisco."

Roy nodded when he saw the military terminal, which was about the size of a brick.

"So, what are your requirements on your end?"

"Headquarters wants to know what exactly happened with the nuclear missile launch and hopes you can investigate."

"If it's on my way, I'll investigate."

Roy made no promises, and this matter was difficult to investigate; his primary goal was still to find Elise.

Gerald knew this was a tricky matter and didn't insist that Roy investigate it thoroughly.

"Mr. Blake, good luck."

Roy took the military terminal and mounted Claudia.

“Mr. Orin, I’ve always been lucky. You should wish Elise good luck.”

"Everyone gets good luck, so it's okay if only the mastermind behind it all suffers bad luck, right?"

Roy smiled, started the motorcycle, and set off.

The people in the camp watched in astonishment as Roy drove into downtown San Francisco without any protection.

The city of San Francisco resembled the apocalypse. The buildings on the outskirts were relatively intact, but the closer to the epicenter, the more terrifying it became, with many buildings destroyed by the shockwave from the nuclear explosion.

There's nothing we can do about it; the Americans simply prefer to build houses out of wood.

Tornadoes can blow wooden houses away, let alone the shockwave from a nuclear explosion.

Luckily, Roy brought Claudia with him. The petite blue Harley-Davidson Buell Firebolt motorcycle managed to maneuver through the broken roads, but Bumblebee definitely couldn't.

Fortunately, the nuclear explosion was relatively far from the Amacham Tower, so Roy could still see from a distance that half of the Amacham Tower was still standing strong.

If this building is melted down by a nuclear bomb, then there's no need to look for Elise; it might be faster to look for her in Heaven.

However, as Roy approached the Amacham Building, he suddenly sensed something was wrong.

"Roy, strong electromagnetic waves detected!"

"Claulia, can you find the source of the electromagnetic waves?"

"It seems to be right at the top of the target location!"

Roy looked up in the direction of the Amacham Building and just then saw a black dot move slightly at the top of the building, which looked like a person.

They were more than ten kilometers apart, and even with Roy's eyesight, he couldn't tell what the person was; perhaps it wasn't even human.

Roy then entered a hallucination.

In the illusionary world, Roy stands alone in the ruins of San Francisco, but the light around him is not that of night, but rather the orange-red hues of dusk.

The only solution is to remove their limbs, break their legs first and then their arms, then they'll be left to lay their cocoons on the ground.

"Just now, a terrifying electromagnetic wave suddenly erupted from the center of the Amacham Building, and then you fell into a deep sleep and fell straight out of the car. I had no choice but to stop the car to try to wake you up, and then these monsters suddenly appeared."

Roy roughly understood what had happened, but his doubts did not diminish.

It's worth noting that Roy's current Willpower attribute is as high as 99 points, just one point away from breaking 100.

After all that trouble, Roy finally arrived at the foot of the Amacham Building just as dawn was breaking.

"This is it!"
