Chapter 390 The caring little cotton-padded jacket

Roy slept soundly until dawn, when he was woken up by a ringing phone.

I glanced at my phone screen and saw that it was a call from blonde news anchor Marian Megan.

“Mr. Black, I’ve already arranged a live television interview. Do you have time to come to ABC’s television station to see me soon!”

"Oh, I'm sorry! Ms. Megan, right? I'm going to cancel this interview."

Roy was on the phone, and because he was speaking quite loudly, he woke up Elareza.

When the little succubus saw Roy on the phone, she immediately crawled into bed.

She truly is her father's sweet little darling; she's so incredibly thoughtful.

“Mr. Black, didn’t we have an agreement? Why are you canceling the cooperation now?”

"Hiss! Ms. Megan, the condition we agreed upon was that you help me resolve this public relations crisis—that was the prerequisite for our cooperation. The problem is, I no longer need your help with this public relations crisis!"

Marian on the other end of the phone gritted her teeth. In fact, when she saw the news these past two days, she had a vague feeling that something was wrong.

Originally, they wanted to resolve the matter quickly and settle things first, but Roy disappeared for two or three days, causing Marian's plan to resolve the matter quickly to fail.

All Marian could do now was say nice things to persuade Roy to continue fulfilling the agreement.

“Mr. Blake, although the public opinion storm has been resolved, there’s no need to cancel the live interview! This live broadcast might even improve your public image…”

Roy enjoyed Elareza's attentive service while casually responding to Marian.

Marian was talking on the phone until her mouth was almost dry, and so was Elareza.

"Mr. Black, would you be willing to come to ABC's television station tomorrow?"

"Hmm, hmm, hmm? Next time, definitely!"

After saying that, Roy hung up the phone and then pressed down on Elareza's head.

"Elareza, keep going! Don't stop!"

Marian on the other end of the phone was furious. She had said nice things for more than ten minutes, but in the end she only got a perfunctory answer.

It would have been better to have Roy hung up the phone in the first place.

Marian felt as if the headlights of her car had increased in size by several cup sizes!
“Marianne, did Roy Black refuse?”

Franklin asked the question knowing the answer already, which earned him a fierce glare from Marianne.

Mike patted Franklin on the shoulder.

“Little Fu, stop talking! Marian, I’ve said it before, Roy Black is not an easy guy to deal with, you should just give up on him.”

Marian's eyes widened in anger, and she suddenly stood up and slammed her hand on the table.

“I, Marian Megan, will never accept failing with the same person so many times! I’m going to get Roy Black no matter what! No matter the cost!”

After saying that, Marian slammed the door and left.

Mike and Franklin exchanged a glance.

"What do we do, Mike? Marian seems to have gone mad!"

"What can I do? Should I kneel down in front of Roy Black and beg him to agree to an interview with Marian?"

"I think this is a great idea!"

"Get lost! Go ahead and go, maybe you can even extort money from him because you're Black!"

"Forget it! I'm afraid Roy Black will punch me to death; he's a Texan!"

"No, at most he'll take you to Texas to pick cotton, and you'll still get to eat fried chicken and watermelon."

Upon hearing this, Franklin angrily grabbed Mike by the neck, and the two began to fight in front of everyone.

Marian was still angry after she left. She had a strong urge to confide in someone, but there was no one to listen.

Mike and Franklin were, after all, of the opposite sex, so it was a little strange for them to confide in each other, and Marianne didn't have any other male friends.

At that moment, Marian suddenly remembered Adela, the female student she had met before.

Adela is still a college student and seems kind and innocent, so she might be a good person to confide in.

So Marianne found Adela's contact information and made the call.

"Hello, is this Adela? It's me, Marian. Are you free right now?"

Adela's deliberately lowered voice came from the other end of the phone.

"Marianne? I'm still in class, and it'll be over soon. Could you wait a few minutes for me?"

"Okay, I'll wait for you at XXX Cafe."

"Then I'll hang up."

An hour later, Adela, dressed in sportswear, appeared in the coffee shop. She was covered in sweat, as if she had run all the way there.

This fits Adela's character, since taxi fares aren't cheap for America, and a female college student from an ordinary family certainly can't afford to take taxis often.

"I'm so sorry, Marian, I've kept you waiting!"

"It's nothing, it'll only take the time it takes to drink a cup of coffee."

After waiting for an hour, Marianne's emotions stabilized slightly, but her desire to confide in others did not decrease at all; on the contrary, it intensified.

For some reason, Marian felt an overwhelming urge to confide in Adela whenever she saw her.

So Marianne told Adela about her predicament and her accusations against Roy Black's behavior.

"Adela, how can there be such a man in this world? He's infuriating!"

Marian grew increasingly angry as she spoke, while Adela, sitting opposite her, smiled throughout, seemingly unconcerned about being Marian's emotional dumping ground.

"Marianne, do you really want to get rid of Roy Black?"

Marian was taken aback.

"Adela, what do you mean by this?"

"It's nothing, I just wanted to ask your heart."

Adela's words sounded a bit strange, but Marian didn't think much of it.

"Of course I want to get Roy Black! I, Marian Megan, will never accept defeat like this!"

Marianne readily admitted her thoughts.

"No matter the cost?"

Adela's questions were getting stranger and stranger, but Marian was clearly caught up in the moment and answered without thinking.

"No matter what the cost!"

Adela gave a sweet smile and then placed a piece of paper in front of Marian.

"In that case, let's sign this contract. I can help you deal with Roy Black!"

Marian's expression became dazed; she had a vague feeling that something was wrong.

But Adela's smile was so sweet that Marian couldn't think about what was going on.

Looking down at the paper Adela handed her, Marianne found it was covered in writing she couldn't understand. The writing seemed to possess a strange magic, drawing her gaze.

"Marianne, sign your name! After you sign, I will help you realize your dream!"

At that moment, Marian heard Adela's voice as if it were coming from a distant place, which made her fall into a daze.

"Is it really possible to get rid of Roy Black just by signing your name?"

"Of course! Sign your name!"

Adela handed a quill to Marian, who mechanically took it and wrote her name on a piece of paper. Immediately, the paper was engulfed in flames, leaving not even ashes.

Marian then slumped onto the table and fell into a deep sleep.

The commotion caught the attention of a nearby waiter, who came over to inquire.

"Madam, what happened?"

"It's nothing, my friend just drank too much, and I'm about to take her home."

Drinking in broad daylight?

She's heartbroken.

This explanation was perfectly reasonable, and the waiter also smelled some alcohol, so he didn't say anything more.

Then, Adela helped Marian leave the coffee shop.

Actually, there was another person who witnessed the whole scene: Marian's old rival, Gretchen Henderson.

Gretchen saw Marianne rushing out of the TV station and assumed she had dug up some big news, so she secretly followed her to this coffee shop.

As a professional journalist, Gretchen was very good at tracking, so Marian didn't notice her at all.

Then Gretchen witnessed a magical scene, which frightened her so much that she quickly covered her face with a newspaper and dared not show herself.

After Adela helped Marianne leave the coffee shop, Gretchen hurriedly paid the bill and fled.

As soon as she left the coffee shop, Gretchen took out her phone and made a call.

"Hey, Lydia, it's Gretchen! I'm in some trouble and might need your help!"

"Is it urgent? I'm preparing for tonight's show, so I might not be able to find the time!"

"It's extremely urgent! I..."

Gretchen was about to explain what she had seen when she found someone blocking her way.

"Who are you talking to on the phone?"

When Gretchen looked up, she saw Adela, who filled her with immense fear.

Come to think of it, Gretchen, an ordinary person, how could she possibly hide from Adela, a succubus?

Adela didn't make a move just now because she had Marianne to control and couldn't deal with Gretchen.

Now that Adela has freed up her resources, she can naturally turn her attention back to Gretchen.

"Hey, Gretchen? What happened? Why aren't you saying anything?"

A few seconds later, only a cell phone remained on the ground, and a woman's voice could be heard coming from it.

Unfortunately, on the bustling street, not a single person stopped for even a second to pick up the phone.

Everyone has their own things to do, and no one will stop for someone else.

The camera then shifts to Lilith's side.

Lilith and her old friend Dorothy have evaded the search by the Underworld police and returned to the human world. The two are currently at Jennifer's house in Fallstown.

It has to be said that Waterfall Town is becoming increasingly rich in talent.

The two swamp witches, Misty and Wendy, live in seclusion at Sawyer Manor, while Isabella, the former human form of Michael, stays at the chapel in Fallstown.

De Lasa, a former sniper for the Amacham Company, was released by General Hammer shortly after Bartholomew's death and now runs a small coffee shop in Fallstown.

Add to that the people who aren't in Fallstown for the time being, and it's practically an all-star lineup!

"The world has changed so much!"

Looking at the world outside the window, Dorothy fell into deep thought.

Because there was no needle and thread, Dorothy's body was eventually sewn back together using a stapler that Lilith found.

Despite the obvious nail marks on her body, Dorothy remained beautiful, with an added touch of grotesque beauty.

"After all, you have been sealed for 500 years, and the changes in humanity in the last hundred years are greater than the changes in the previous thousands of years combined."

After thinking for a while, Dorothy turned to look at Lilith, who was sitting elegantly on the sofa.

"Lilith, is there something you need from me?"

Lilith's face was full of smiles, the kind of smile that seemed to say "when fellow countrymen meet, they stab each other in the back," which made Dorothy feel wary.

"Oh dear, could it be that after I gained my freedom, I remembered an old friend and came to rescue you?"

Dorothy looked at Lilith with a cold smile. She was from roughly the same generation as Lilith, only a few years later than her.

Lilith is the witch of desire, while Dorothy is the witch of death.

Both of them survived from ancient times until after the Great Flood, and their strengths were roughly equal.

However, Lilith was betrayed by her daughter Ophelia soon after the Great Flood and existed as a ghost for thousands of years. She only recently regained her body with Roy's help, though it was just a puppet body.

Dorothy, on the other hand, was much luckier. She was only accidentally overturned five hundred years ago and was smashed to pieces.

Fortunately, the Death Witch is immortal. Although her immortality is not as great as Cain's, she cannot be killed by conventional means.

So Dorothy was ultimately sealed in a corner of the Spirit Book Prison, and if it weren't for Lilith, it's unknown when she would have been able to break free of the seal.

Dorothy raised her chin and looked at Lilith.

"We've known each other for so long, is there any need for all this pretense and pretense? Just tell me your purpose!"

Lilith glanced slyly at Dorothy.

"Of course I need to. How would I know if you've gone mad after being sealed for five hundred years?"

The mere mention of this made Dorothy furious. For the past five hundred years, she had remained fully conscious. To be sealed in a cramped wooden box for hundreds of years was a terrifying ordeal.

"You released me just to tell me this?"

Seeing that Dorothy was getting angry, Lilith immediately changed her attitude.

"I do need your help with something."

Lilith revealed her purpose.

It turns out that Dorothy, as the Witch of Death, is proficient in magic related to death and souls.

Lilith sought out Dorothy because she wanted Dorothy to help her expel Oliveina's soul from her body so that Oliveina could return to her own.

"So that's it."

Dorothy breathed a sigh of relief after learning Lilith's purpose.

This was not a difficult task for Dorothy at her peak, but after being sealed for five hundred years, the Death Witch's power had been greatly diminished.

“Lilith, I can help you with this, but I’m currently lacking in strength and need to replenish it. Also, I need to find someone to take revenge on, and I need your help with that.”

Upon hearing this, Lilith raised an eyebrow.

"Is it the guy who sealed you away?"

Dorothy's beautiful face contorted into a gritted-teeth expression.

"Yes, it's him! Lilith, how about we help each other, you help me, I help you, and we cooperate?"

Lilith smiled.

"Exactly what I want!"
