Chapter 318 Tainted Witness
Back at the outpost, Jay fired a signal flare into the sky.

However, after waiting for half an hour, the zipline still hadn't come down, which puzzled Jay greatly.

"What's going on? Weren't we supposed to have Levi wait for our signal at the outpost?"

Roy also frowned. It was only nine o'clock in the morning, and there were still several hours until the agreed deadline of two o'clock in the afternoon. Levy should not leave the outpost.

"Could something have happened?"

At this moment, Delasa, who had been mostly silent, spoke up.

“There’s a secret passage over there in Amacham that leads up. You can come with me.”

Jay still had some doubts, after all, the fact that Delasar appeared at the bottom of the canyon already indicated that Amacham was up to something.

Who knows if Delassa might lead the two into a trap?

"I think I can try it."

Since Delasa has already witnessed Roy's strength and still dares to say such things, it means that she definitely doesn't have any other thoughts in mind, unless she doesn't want to live anymore.

"follow me!"

Derasa led Roy and Jay to the foot of the opposite mountain wall, where there was a cave hidden by bushes, which was not visible unless you looked closely.

The three climbed into the cave and saw an elevator.

"You came down via this elevator?"

Jay observed the surrounding environment and found that the cave had obviously been dug out a long time ago, indicating that the Amacham Company had planned this in advance.

However, De Lasa couldn't explain it either, as she was employed by Bartholomew and knew nothing about these matters herself.

Fortunately, Jay didn't press the matter further. The three of them boarded the elevator and began to slowly ascend, soon arriving at the top of the canyon.

Unexpectedly, when I opened the secret door and returned to the outpost, I saw an old friend.

“You’re finally back, my dear Delasa.”

Bartholomew sat calmly in his chair as he watched Roy and the other two walk out, his expression changing instantly.

"He even brought guests? Oh, isn't that Mr. Roy Black?"

Of the three, Jay and Derasar were both wearing complete gear and their faces were not visible, while only Roy could be identified because his gear had been torn apart by Asmodeus.

"Bartholomew, it was you."

"Damn it! Why did you bring this guy up here?!"

Judging from this, Bartholomew seems to know that Roy was involved in the operation, and it's very likely that Amarcham also has people on Hammer's warship.

This tech company's infiltration capabilities are truly terrifying; it seems like they have people in every department of the federal government.

Bartholomew forced herself to remain calm. Behind her stood four fully armed mercenaries, each holding a type of firearm that Roy had never seen before.

“I never expected to run into you here, Mr. Black. I thought Delasa had already taken care of you.”

These words were clearly meant to sow discord, but they were very effective. Jay quietly moved a few steps away from Derasa and even tried to pull Roy over.

However, Roy didn't move and patted De Lasa on the shoulder.

Regardless of the woman's previous motives, she did indeed save Roy once, and he always judged things by their actions, not their intentions.

“Ms. Bartholomew, why don’t we talk about why you’re here? This is a military restricted area. Even if Amacham is a partner of the Pentagon, he still needs to apply to enter. Did you apply?”

Jay then realized that the biggest problem now was that old woman Bartholomew; compared to that, De Lasa was just a minor issue.

So Jay picked up his gun and aimed it at Bartholomew, and the four men behind Bartholomew also picked up their guns and aimed them at Jay at the same time.

Suddenly, the atmosphere in the outpost became tense.

"Bartholomew, answer Blake's question! Did you trespass into a military restricted area without permission?!"

Bartholomew's expression turned extremely ugly. She had indeed sneaked in, her purpose being to silence Delassa.

Once Derasa completes this task, she can leave the Amacham Corporation, as Bartholomew had agreed upon with her.

However, Bartholomew did not want to keep his promise because De La Salle had done a lot of dirty work for her, some of which were even done behind the company's back, so he had to silence her.

Moreover, to prevent things from going wrong, Bartholomew personally led a team to resolve the De La Sa issue.

As it turned out, De La Salle brought Roy along as well, and now Bartholomew is in a bit of a predicament.

She was deeply impressed by Roy's act of overturning her car in front of Bartholomew at the Oak School gate last time.

Since then, Bartholomew has been terrified of Roy's retaliation and upgraded his security team, which unexpectedly came in handy today.

Thinking of this, Bartholomew's expression suddenly became kind.

“Mr. Black, I really miscalculated today. How about we just let it go and pretend nothing happened?”

Upon hearing this, Roy also flashed a bright, sunny smile.

"What do you say?"

Bartholomew is the one who's been messing with Roy at Amacham's company. Several times before, when Roy was being harassed, it could all be traced back to this old woman.

Now that Roy has finally caught this guy by the tail, how could he possibly let her go?
"Mr. Blake, do you have to make things so ugly? Aren't you afraid that the two ladies beside you will perish once the fight begins?"

Roy's expression brightened even more as he was threatened with Jay and Derasa.

“Ms. Bartholomew, I hate being threatened.”

At this moment, the outpost was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Everyone was on edge, and even the slightest movement could trigger a battle.

Roy was puzzled as to where Bartholomew got his courage. He had already demonstrated his strong physical defense at Oak School, yet she still dared to adopt such a tough stance.

Is there something they're relying on?

Roy carefully observed Bartholomew and the four mercenaries behind her, and the most suspicious thing was the strange gun they were carrying.

So this is Bartholomew's trump card?

After a brief standoff, Bartholomew was the first to back down.

After all, this is military territory. If the commotion is too loud and is heard by people in other outposts, Bartholomew will not be able to escape.

“Mr. Black, there’s no point in us continuing this stalemate. How about this: you hand over Derasa to me, and I can promise that Amacham Company will never bother you again, and I will also provide a large sum of money as compensation.”

Jay and De LaSa both looked at Roy.

Jay did not want Roy to compromise with Bartholomew, because the latter's actions clearly violated the military's interests.

Delaza's thoughts were similar to Jay's, but her motivations were different; she didn't want Roy to give her away.

Roy certainly wouldn't hand over Delaza, who had saved him, and he didn't trust Bartholomew at all.

"Actually, I have a better idea, which is..."

The realm of fear unfolds!

Roy stopped wasting words with Bartholomew and immediately activated his Fear Domain. The old woman instantly succumbed to fear, but to Roy's surprise, the four mercenaries behind Bartholomew were unaffected by the Fear Domain and continued to raise their guns, attempting to fire at Roy.

However, Roy was faster than the mercenaries, quickly drawing his gun and firing, and giving each of the four mercenaries a 50 peanut.

Jay and Derasa only realized what had happened after the four mercenaries fell to the ground.

"Is this solved?"

Deras looked at Roy in disbelief, and began to feel glad that he had given up on completing the mission; there was no way to defeat such an enemy.

"Of course it's resolved! You guys help me control Bartholomew, I want to check out these four mercenaries."

This was the first time Roy had encountered a fear field that humans were immune to; there was definitely something wrong with these four people.

Roy was astonished to find that the four mercenaries all looked exactly alike when he removed their hoods.

Just then, Jay walked over and took a look.

"A clone! Damn it! I knew Amarcham was plotting something!"

Judging from this, Jay seems to know something about clones.

"Jay, can you tell me what happened?"

Jay nodded without refusing, as this matter should not involve military secrets.

"About six months ago, Amacham suddenly developed cloning technology. Because this technology can effectively avoid high labor costs and can also complete many high-risk tasks, it has been used by many departments. Among them, the military and the FEA are the hardest hit!"

Jay's words instantly reminded Roy of the incident involving the visitors from another world through the Ghost Mirror. Back then, Roy felt that there was something wrong with Paxton's special forces. Could they also be clones?

From this perspective, the FEA has been infiltrated to a great extent. Paxton is very likely one of Amacham's men, which is why he has command over the clones.

Having figured this out, Roy stopped paying attention to the clones and went to Bartholomew to wake him up.

After regaining his senses, Bartholomew glared hatefully at Roy and the other two.

"I never thought I'd still fall. Just kill me!"

"Then I'll grant your wish!"

Roy pressed the muzzle of the Smith & Wesson M500 against Bartholomew's head, but Jay held his hand down.

“Blake, this guy is a high-ranking member of Amacham and should know a lot of secrets. If we hand her over to General Hammer, it will definitely deal a heavy blow to the entire Amacham company.”

If Jay is a professional intelligence agent, he figured out the stakes in a very short time.

Upon hearing this, Roy showed an interested expression. If it could cause Amacham to suffer greater losses, he certainly wouldn't refuse.

"Great idea! Let's do it this way!"

Bartholomew's expression changed, and he immediately began to curse.

"Bitch! Don't even think about using me against the company!"

Surprisingly, this old woman is quite loyal to Amacham.

Roy took off his sock and stuffed it into Bartholomew's mouth to stop him from continuing his foul language.

At this point, De La Sa decisively added insult to injury.

“I’m willing to be a witness for the prosecution. I have a lot of recordings related to this guy, which might help her stay in jail longer.”

Derasa is indeed a thoughtful person; he records every mission he accepts.

However, Bartholomew was no fool; she carried jamming devices with her on most of the occasions when the two met directly.

Therefore, De Laza had relatively few recordings, but they were enough to convict Bartholomew.

Upon hearing this, Bartholomew looked at De Lasa with eyes that seemed to want to kill him, but it was too late.

"Good job! Tie her up, I'm going to check on Levi's situation."

Levy didn't drop the zipline as agreed, so something has likely happened to him.

With Bartholomew's appearance, Roy began to suspect that Levy had been killed by Amacham's men.

Upon arriving at the outpost's terrace, they indeed saw a figure moving across the way. The guy immediately shrank back after seeing Roy.

But Roy took a running start and jumped directly from one side of the canyon to the other.

The canyon is about a hundred meters wide. Roy's move caught not only the opposing team off guard, but also Jay and Derasa.

However, while in mid-air, Roy realized that he might have overestimated himself. After jumping about eighty meters, he began to fall, at a point twenty meters away from the other side of the canyon.

In order to avoid falling, Roy could only quickly transform into Nafi, use his wings to lift himself up, and then transform back.

Fortunately, Jay and De La Salle did not witness this scene, and the person who did was immediately killed by Roy.

Unfortunately, Roy arrived too late; Levi had already been murdered by Amacham's spy on the Hammer warship.

Roy found military tags on the guy; he must have used his military status to enter the outpost and then ambushed Levi when he wasn't looking.

Bartholomew should definitely be held responsible for this crime. If he hadn't been caught, nothing would have happened to him, but now...

"Mr. Black, thank you so much this time!"

Hammer shook hands with Roy, his face ashen.

"No need for thanks. I'm just fulfilling my promise. General Hammer, just don't forget your commitment."

"Of course I won't forget my promise! But gratitude is also necessary. Without Lord Blake, things might have gotten much worse!"

Hammer only realized how complicated the incident was after hearing Jay's report. The Laytons had tampered with the experimental base, but he was completely unaware of Amacham's underhanded tactics.

What's even more outrageous is that there are Amarcham's spies on the warships. If this gets out, Hammer will really lose face as a lieutenant general.

Now that Bartholomew has been caught red-handed and De Laza is willing to be a witness for the prosecution, there is still a chance to salvage the situation.

"General Hammer, what are your plans for dealing with this woman?"

Upon hearing this, Hammer's face was filled with disgust.

"I will send her to a military court and make her receive the punishment she deserves. This time, Amacham won't have an easy time!"

Roy smiled; this was exactly the effect he wanted.

"General Hammer, I think you still have a lot of work to do, so I won't bother you any longer."

Hammer nodded.

"Okay, go and rest. I'll send you back to America after you've rested."

A guard escorted Roy to his room at the Misty Island docks, while Jay had more detailed information to report.

In the room, Roy had just taken off his shirt and was about to take a nap when he heard someone knocking on the door.

Guess which character this is?
