Chapter 307 Read My Face and Act
These words enraged the armed soldier, who then tried to pull the hammer to further threaten Roy.

But the guy didn't expect Roy to reach for his gun directly. He thought Roy wanted to take the gun and instinctively pulled the trigger.

The soldier regretted it after pulling the trigger, because his orders were not to kill Roy.

Then, a shocking scene unfolded: Roy caught the soldier's bullet with his bare hands, and for a moment, both men forgot to pull their jaws back.

Roy looked at the two soldiers indifferently.

"I'm giving you a chance to rephrase your words."

Both soldiers felt a chill run down their spines. The reason they were so tough was because of their firearms, but now Roy was showing them with his actions that guns were useless. They were suddenly at a loss for words and actions.

At that moment, Gerald stormed in with several FEA agents.

"What are you doing!"

Roy crossed his arms and looked at Gerald with a cold smile.

"I'm having friendly discussions with two American soldiers, don't you think?"

The two soldiers dared not shake their heads; if even guns couldn't deal with Roy, what else could they do?

Gerald knew perfectly well what the two soldiers were there for; someone had informed him beforehand, which was why he was able to arrive so quickly.

"Gentlemen, what exactly does General Hammer mean? Can you give me an explanation?"

The two soldiers answered Gerald with a forced smile.

"General Hammer would like to invite Mr. Black to dinner."

Gerald could easily tell that the two soldiers had angered Roy by making the invitation inappropriate.

If it were Gerald, he would definitely send two pretty female soldiers to invite Roy, and they would definitely wear uniforms. Roy would then happily go to the banquet.

"Since General Hammer has invited Mr. Black to dinner, could I join him?"

The two soldiers remained silent for a moment, then finally nodded.

Then Gerald looked at Roy.

"Mr. Black, would you be interested in coming aboard the aircraft carrier with me?"

That piqued Roy's interest.

"I've never been on an aircraft carrier before, but I hope the dinner on one will satisfy me."

So, Roy and Gerald, led by two soldiers, boarded the aircraft carrier in a lifeboat.

This aircraft carrier feels different; the deck height is about the same as the top deck of the USS San Diego.

Moreover, General Hammer simply set up a table on the aircraft landing deck and had dinner with Roy, without worrying that the wind was too strong and he might hurt his back.

General Hammer was puzzled that Gerald had come with Roy. When he looked at the two soldiers he had sent out, he noticed that they both had uneasy expressions on their faces and immediately realized that something had happened.

Having risen to the rank of lieutenant general, Hammer understands basic social etiquette, but sometimes, to maintain his public image, he has to act somewhat unreasonable.

"Lord Olin, I didn't expect you to come too."

"General Hammer, are you not welcoming me?"

Hammer gave a stiff smile, then waved for the two soldiers leading the way to move a chair.

The three of them then sat down around a square table on the deck of the aircraft carrier.

Roy looked around curiously; this was the first time in his two lifetimes that he had ever boarded an aircraft carrier.

However, there doesn't seem to be much to see on the deck; you have to go inside the aircraft carrier to see something new.

However, Hammer didn't seem to want Roy inside the aircraft carrier, otherwise he wouldn't have put the dining table on the deck.

Hammer, with a stern face, chatted with Gerald for a couple of minutes, and then the chef started serving the dishes.

"Come and try this special roasted lamb chop."

Three elegant plates were placed on the table, each containing a large piece of lamb chop, which looked very tempting.

But Roy still pursed his lips; this little bit of meat wasn't even enough to fill a gap between his teeth.

Hammer noticed Roy's expression.

"Mr. Black, do you not like this dish?"

Roy smiled.

"I just had one thought in mind: is this lamb some kind of golden lamb worth hundreds of thousands of dollars?"

Upon hearing this, Hammer's face fell.

"Who did you listen to?"

No way? At this point, the US is already playing this game with $600 million and 9 sheep?
"I've forgotten who said it, is there a problem?"

Hammer couldn't possibly say there was anything wrong with what he said, otherwise wouldn't he be admitting his guilt?

He could only stare at Roy with a sullen face, which set a bad tone for the dinner.

Gerald sensed something was wrong and immediately tried to change the subject.

"General Hammer, I wonder what brings you here to invite Blake?"

Hammer glanced at Gerald but did not answer his question.

"This involves military secrets, so please excuse me for not being able to tell you."

This was clearly a pretext to avoid telling Gerald, which immediately displeased Gerald.

"General Hammer, Blake is a member of the FEA. Did you ask me before you went to cause him trouble?"

Gerald's attitude suddenly hardened.

It's obvious that if things aren't clarified, given Roy's temper, things could easily escalate out of control.

To prevent the situation from escalating further, Gerald had no choice but to take a tough stance.

Hammer frowned slightly, somewhat dissatisfied with Gerald's attitude, but ultimately it was Gerald who was in the wrong, and even if the case went all the way to the White House, he was still in the wrong.

Left with no other option, Hammer had to offer an explanation.

“In fact, I have a top-secret mission to give to Lord Blake. My previous actions were just to test whether he could complete this mission.”

Roy looked at Hammer with some surprise, cursing inwardly.

You call this a test? I'll smash your head in, you believe me?

Hammer's explanation did not satisfy Gerald, and he continued to press for answers.

"If it's a mission relocation, the FEA should have been notified! Roy is, after all, an FEA agent!"

Gerald's repeated questioning made Hammer increasingly dissatisfied.

"Military matters are none of your concern, Your Excellency Olin!"

“Blake is my man, of course I have the right to ask!”

The two started arguing about Roy, but Roy was enjoying his roasted lamb chops.

The roasted lamb chops were indeed delicious, tender and juicy, and without any gamey smell.

It's a pity the portion was too small; Roy finished it in just a few bites.

Then, Roy looked at Hammer and Gerald, who were glaring at each other, and said something.

"Excuse me, do you still have roasted lamb chops?"

Hammer glared at Roy, then called over his adjutant.

"Make him another one!" "Wait, one isn't enough! Forget it, just roast the whole lamb and bring it over!"

Roy gave orders to Hammer's adjutant without any hesitation, and the adjutant looked at Hammer with a hesitant expression.

Hammer was even more annoyed and stopped using polite greetings.

"Kid, can you eat a whole sheep?"

"Hehe! Even if you brought me three more sheep, I could still eat them!"

Just now, in the cruise ship's restaurant, Roy was interrupted by two soldiers sent by Hammer as soon as he started eating, so he only managed to grab a bite.

This little bit of mutton isn't enough!
Hammer glared at Roy.

"Very well! I hate people who boast the most. I'll have the chef prepare enough mutton for three sheep right now. You eat it all in front of me, and I'll pretend that what happened today never happened! If you can't finish it... hmph!"

Upon hearing this, Gerald immediately had an idea, gave Roy a wink, and the two began exchanging glances.

Gerald had witnessed Roy's appetite back at the Dolphin Hotel in Los Angeles, and it was already astonishing then; now it's probably even more terrifying.

Gerald: Black, are you confident?

Roy: Absolutely no problem!
Gerald: Alright, I'm going to set a trap for this guy. Just watch my expression!
Hmm? I have to read your face and act accordingly?

Roy looked at Gerald's dark face and thought, "Who the hell can tell that?"
Just as Gerald was about to make his point clear, the guy started looking at Hammer with a worried expression.

"General Hammer, how can a person possibly eat the meat of three sheep? Aren't you making things difficult for him?"

Hammer crossed his arms, his attitude very resolute.

"That's what he said himself! Soldiers must keep their word!"

"But Blake isn't a soldier; he doesn't need to keep his word!"

Gerald confronted Hammer directly, which angered the old man so much that he almost blurted out the word that started with the letter N.

"What do you want?"

"If you want Blake to bet against you, don't you want to give something in return?"

“I told you! As long as Blake finishes eating the three sheep, I won’t hold him accountable for his mistake today!”

“Blake did nothing wrong! He reported on the Starry Night incident; he deserves credit!”

Gerald showed no mercy to Hammer, directly pointing out the flaws in his language, which infuriated Hammer.

"What do you want!"

These words were practically squeezed out from between Hammer's teeth, showing how genuinely angry he was.

“General Hammer, you’re a soldier, so I won’t beat around the bush with you. Let’s make a bet! If Roy can’t finish these three sheep, you can do whatever you want with both of us! But if he finishes them, you have to tell us who sent you to find him!”

"it is good!"

Hammer blurted out "good," but then realized what he'd said.

"Wait, are you deliberately trying to provoke me?"

Gerald had completely lost his tough stance at this point, and a faint smile appeared on his face.

"General Hammer, a soldier's word is his bond."

Hammer had just said those words, so naturally he couldn't take them back right then and there.

"Hmph! Let's see if Lord Blake can finish three sheep. If he can't, you're all doomed!"

Hammer had realized he'd been tricked, but for the sake of his pride, he had no choice but to keep up the act.

Gerald shrugged at Roy, indicating that it was now his turn to perform.

Roy made an OK sign.

Soon, the chef brought out a large plate of mutton, and Roy began to eat voraciously.

Because there was a lot of meat, this plate of lamb wasn't as finely prepared as the previous plate of roasted lamb, but because the ingredients themselves were of very high quality, the taste was still excellent.

Then, Hammer watched as Roy devoured a large plate of mutton in a flash. The key point was that Roy's stomach didn't get any bigger after he finished eating, which meant that he could still eat.

Plate after plate of mutton went into Roy's stomach, and Hammer's expression changed from frowning at first to shock in the middle and finally numbness.

I've almost lived through the entirety of my life's journey.

In the end, Roy ate the equivalent of eight sheep's worth of meat before he was satisfied.

"Burp! It's been so long since I've had such a satisfying meal!"

Even at home, no one has the time or energy to prepare so much food for Roy, so he is usually in a state of semi-hunger and semi-fullness, and it is rare for him to be able to eat so much.

Gerald glanced at Roy's slightly swollen belly and twitched his lips. Although he was confident in Roy's appetite, he hadn't expected Roy to eat so much.

If Roy had such a big appetite back when he was at the Dolphin Hotel, the Dolphin Hotel might have really gone bankrupt from his spending.

"Ahem! General Hammer, Blake has already eaten the meat of eight sheep. Do you have anything to say about that?"

Hammer glared at Gerald.

"I always keep my word; I don't need you to remind me!"

Hammer knew he had been tricked by Gerald and was very upset, but he still chose to keep his promise.

“Recently, a project I was in charge of encountered a ‘minor problem,’ and the company I was working with, Amacham, suggested that we find an FEA agent named Roy Black to solve this ‘minor problem.’”

Roy and Gerald exchanged a glance, surprised that it was Amacham Corporation stirring up trouble again.

This company is really persistent. Last time, they sent a senior agent from FEA headquarters to try and take down Roy, but Gerald caught them red-handed.

Because of this incident, FEA headquarters issued a stern warning to Amacham, and for the next few months, nothing happened.

Unexpectedly, Amacham has recently lost his temper again.

"General Hammer, was the person who made this suggestion to you named Bartholomew?"

Roy couldn't help but ask Hammer.

Hammer looked at Roy with a strange expression.

"Bartholomew? Isn't that the COO of Amacham Corporation? Why would she make this suggestion?"

It wasn't Bartholomew? Then who could it be?

Gerald asked Roy what was on his mind.

"General Hammer, could you reveal who specifically made the suggestion?"

Hammer's expression began to show struggle; the question clearly involved military secrets.

Speaking out would be leaking military secrets, while remaining silent would violate his earlier promise.

After a long while, Hammer finally finished talking to Gerald.

"I can only say that it was the opinion of the researchers on that project."

researcher?

Roy was even more puzzled, as he didn't know any of Amacham's researchers at all.

At this moment, Gerald gave Roy a wink, probably guessing who had made the suggestion.

Having achieved his goal for the night, Gerald prepared to take Roy's leave.

"General Hammer, thank you very much for your hospitality tonight. It's getting late, so Blake and I will take our leave now."

"Wait a moment!"
