Chapter 249 The world has lost another smiling man.
“Of course I understand what you mean, Mr. Blake!”
Gerald was more than happy to hear Roy say that, so he put his arm around Roy's shoulder with a face full of enthusiasm.
"Don't worry, Mr. Blake! I'll take care of Anderson from headquarters. You go and explain the situation to Rivera in detail."
"Is Saltana here too?"
Roy turned his head to look for Saltana and saw her talking to Elizabeth.
"Of course! How could I not bring Rivera!"
"Alright, I'll go find Saltana then. You can handle the rest."
Roy winked at Gerald, then went to find Saltana.
"Really? Was Roy this silly in school?"
Roy had assumed that Elizabeth and Saltana were talking about the Crystal Lake incident, but it turned out they were discussing his embarrassing moments.
In response, Roy could only interrupt their conversation with a dark expression.
"Cough cough!"
"Roy, you're here!"
Saltana's eyes lit up when she saw Roy approaching.
“Sister Saltana, Mr. Orin asked me to explain the details of what happened to you.”
“Okay, Ms. Hell has already explained the situation at the resort to me, so you don’t need to go into that part.”
Roy and Saltana went to a quiet place and he explained in detail everything he had seen and heard in the underground base, including Jason’s several mutations and the cultists on the island in the lake.
The only part that wasn't mentioned was about Carrie's dream.
Carrie is still on the FEA's wanted list, and Roy doesn't want her to be caught by the FEA.
"It's actually this complicated?"
Saltana's expression, from initial elation to middle seriousness, and finally to solemnity, fully illustrates her psychological changes.
The Crystal Lake incident is so complex that it rivals the previous Devil's Late Show incident. The mysterious organization, the cabin, and Samael's cult are intertwined in a tangled mess.
Even more terrifying is the mysterious entity at the bottom of Crystal Lake, which can even block Elizabeth's senses.
"Sister Saltana, there's one more thing I need to remind you of!"
Saltana noticed that Roy's expression was unusually serious; she rarely saw Roy like this, and what he was about to say must be very important.
"The most dangerous thing about Crystal Lake is actually something extremely dangerous that exists at the bottom of the lake. I think that's the real reason why the cabin built a secret base here!"
Jason, a serial killer, alone could not possibly support such a large research facility.
"And that town on the other side of the lake is definitely problematic! Sister Saltana, the entire area around Crystal Lake is dangerous, you'd better not get involved too much!"
Saltana felt Roy's concern and her heart was filled with sweetness.
"I understand! I'll be careful!"
Roy pressed his hands against Saltana's shoulders and pressed his forehead against hers.
"It's not just about being careful, it's about staying far away! Even I feel that thing at the bottom of Crystal Lake is extremely dangerous!"
Roy initially didn't want to tell the FEA about the bottom of Crystal Lake, since telling them wouldn't solve anything.
However, if they don't say anything, they're afraid that FEA might pull some stunt that could cause an accident for Saltana.
Saltana nodded.
"I understand, I will consider this matter carefully."
Having said most of what needed to be said, Roy began flirting with Saltana.
Although the two had only met last month, that felt like an eternity to someone deeply in love.
"By the way, Roy! Don't you owe Archina a favor?"
As they chatted, Saltana suddenly brought up a female vampire who was 2.8 meters tall.
Roy's lips twitched. He did owe Archina a favor in the Slender Man incident, and if Saltana hadn't brought it up, he would have almost forgotten about it.
"What did she say?"
Saltana gave a strange smile.
“Achina said you abandoned her and her three daughters, that you are a complete scumbag, and that I’d better stay away from you.”
That's so vicious! Absolutely so vicious!
"Sister Saltana, you don't believe her, do you?"
"Hehe, guess!"
Roy began to suspect that Saltana's claims about the scumbag were fabricated, and that Archina had never said anything about it.
Just as they were about to give the unruly young lady a good beating, Agent Anderson, who liked to fake smiles, suddenly interrupted Roy and Saltana's conversation with a few people.
“Mr. Black, I have something I’d like to talk to you about.”
Roy looked at Anderson with surprise.
"What do you want to talk to me about?"
"Some confidential matters are not suitable for others to hear."
Anderson glanced at Saltana; clearly, she belonged to the "other person" he was referring to.
"Let's talk then," Roy gave Saltana a look, then turned to Anderson.
"Sure, where would you like to talk?"
"We'll just find any empty holiday home; the topic we're going to talk about is very simple."
Anderson flashed his signature friendly smile again, but it looked increasingly fake, making me want to punch him.
Roy resisted the urge and reluctantly followed Anderson to a nearby empty holiday home.
Unexpectedly, as soon as Anderson entered, several agents behind him closed all the doors and windows of the vacation home, then pressed Roy into a chair, pulled over a table and lamp, and quickly set up an interrogation scene.
Anderson turned on the desk lamp and shone it on Roy's face; the glaring light made him squint.
“Mr. Black, you’d better answer the next question honestly, so as not to make things awkward for everyone.”
Several agents drew their pistols, cocked them, and pointed them at Roy.
This setup looks like an interrogation, and not just any ordinary interrogation!
At least the police won't pull out a gun and point it at the criminal's head when interrogating them. If they were prosecuted for that kind of interrogation, they would be in deep trouble!
Only spies and agents are interrogated without restraint; interrogators can use any means to extract confessions because spies and agents are not protected by international law.
Roy showed no sign of panic, and even wore a faint smile.
"Agent Anderson, I'm curious, does Mr. Orin know what you're doing right now?"
Anderson's face still wore that formulaic smile.
"Of course he didn't know, because this was a secret investigation launched by headquarters against Gerald. From March to early April this year, Gerald Orin transferred money to your studio multiple times. Was there a secret deal between the two of you?"
Roy was taken aback, not expecting that Anderson wanted to investigate this matter.
Gerald had clearly told him that it was a normal hiring fee and intelligence fee, and that everything was done very cleanly, even the taxes had been paid. How could it have attracted an investigation from FEA headquarters?
Is this a setup to target Gerald, with Roy caught in the crossfire, or is someone using this as an excuse to sever their ties with the FEA?
A name instantly popped into Roy's mind: Amacham Technologies. Coincidentally, both Roy and Gerald had a grudge against Amacham, so it was quite possible that Amacham was trying to deal with them this way.
It's unclear whether this was a case of a high-ranking FEA official taking money to make Anderson a pawn, or whether Anderson himself wanted to be Amacham's front man.
After figuring out these details, Roy's expression became more relaxed.
"Those are all hiring fees and intelligence fees; aren't they all clearly marked in the accounts?"
Anderson's expression changed drastically; his previously kind face turned fierce. However, Roy did not see any murderous intent in his eyes.
This guy definitely came from an office; all his expressions are superficial, lacking any genuine feeling.
"You'd better tell the truth, or you'll suffer less!"
Roy gave him a mocking look.
"Who exactly sent you to cause me trouble? If you're not high enough in rank, go ask someone who is, so you won't say such stupid things!"
Anderson's expression froze. His rank was indeed lower than Gerald's; after all, he was just a senior agent, not the director.
However, some people always take the power given to them by others as their own, and Anderson is in this situation now.
After being sent by FEA headquarters as an agent, Anderson genuinely believed that he represented headquarters and enjoyed enormous power.
"It seems you're prepared to put up a stubborn resistance!"
Anderson gave a look to the two agents behind Roy, and the two agents immediately prepared to take action.
One of the agents tried to grab Roy's head and slam him onto the table, but Roy easily dodged it.
Another agent tried to smash Roy's temple with a pistol, but Roy grabbed his wrist and gently twisted it.
A snap, followed by a scream.
"what--"
The agent's arm was broken on the spot, with bone fragments piercing through the sleeve of his suit, a scene that stunned everyone present.
Anderson was clearly very flustered. His interrogation techniques were exactly what he had learned from movies, but he hadn't expected Roy to act so unpredictably. Now he had no idea how to handle the situation.
The two agents behind Anderson, however, seemed more experienced and immediately raised their guns to aim at Roy.
"Damn it! Let go of James right now!"
Roy revealed a bloodthirsty smile.
"What can you do if I don't let go?"
The two agents were taken aback by Roy's audacity, and since Anderson hadn't given any orders, they were momentarily speechless.
At this moment, the agent who had just missed his target tried to subdue Roy again, but Roy lifted a chair and pinned the chair leg down on his feet.
"what--"
Another scream.
The agent, enduring the pain in his foot, tried to attack Roy on the back of the head.
Roy couldn't stand it. He grabbed the agent's hand and pulled him down, then stepped on the one foot that was pinned down by the chair and applied a little pressure.
Another cracking sound, but unfortunately, the agent was in too much pain to make a sound.
With the situation turned out this way, the two agents behind Anderson finally couldn't resist pulling the trigger.
The two men originally intended to fire two shots to scare Roy and regain the initiative, but they did not aim at Roy's body.
But Roy reacted very quickly, pulling the agent with the broken hand over and using his body to catch the bullet.
With two soft splattering sounds, blood splattered out.
This has made things even worse!
boom!
The door to the holiday home was kicked open, and Gerald led his agents inside.
"What are you doing!"
Gerald's face was ashen as he glanced at Roy and Anderson.
Roy spread his hands, looking completely innocent.
“I am being interrogated by Agent Anderson. He thinks I have a secret deal with you. I denied it, and he tried to torture me.”
After hearing this, Gerald roughly understood what had happened.
The interrogators who used torture had their legs and hands broken, and were also shot twice. Who can they complain to?
Anderson finally came to his senses and stood up to glare at Roy.
"You actually resisted law enforcement and attacked an FEA agent!"
Roy crossed his legs, looking completely unperturbed.
"You started it, so I can't just let you hit me, can I?"
Anderson was trembling with anger and was about to continue berating Roy when Gerald suddenly interrupted him.
“Agent Anderson, I think you have to answer my question first: Who gave you permission to investigate Mr. Roy Black in private?”
Gerald was so polite to Anderson before because Anderson's status as a commissioner played a role; he didn't want to cause trouble.
But now that Anderson is clearly trying to mess with him, Gerald won't be so polite anymore.
"This is a task assigned by the Ministry of the Interior; you don't need to know!"
Anderson made up a flimsy excuse, which made Gerald even more dissatisfied.
Many organizations have such internal audit departments, mainly to prevent internal corruption.
Unfortunately, most of these departments are used for factionalism and eliminating dissent.
"Agent Anderson, should I call the head of the Internal Affairs Department right now and ask if it was him who gave the order?"
Anderson remained silent, which spoke volumes, but he clearly wasn't willing to admit defeat so easily, so he continued to argue.
"Between February and March of this year, you spent tens of millions of dollars on Roy Black's personal studio. Can you explain that?"
Gerald's face darkened further. The fact that Anderson knew this information could only mean one thing: someone at the Los Angeles branch had betrayed him again.
Roy was starting to feel sorry for Gerald; if it were him, he definitely wouldn't be able to stay in that position as chief.
Gerald let out a deep breath.
“Every single transaction of these funds has been reported to headquarters. If you don’t know the reason, it’s simply because your rank isn’t high enough!”
Absolutely! Roy handled so many incidents for Gerald in Los Angeles, and the FEA benefited greatly from those incidents afterward.
Whether it's the corpse of a ghoul, the corpse of Slender Man, the ashes of a hellish demon, or anything like that.
These things have enormous research value; otherwise, why would the FEA be so generous with the funding?
However, all of these things are top secret of the FEA, and it is estimated that only someone at the director level is qualified to access the information.
"This is impossible! You must be lying to me!"
Anderson forced himself to remain calm, and then he saw Gerald make a phone call.
A few seconds later, Anderson's satellite phone rang, and a voice came through.
"Agent Anderson, you're out of service!"
Upon hearing this, Anderson collapsed to the ground, the world having lost another smiling man.
