Chapter 5: Selling Food at the Market

In the stone house, everyone's attention was attracted by a bowl of white rice porridge on the table.

Amy also looked at her mother with expectation in her eyes. Her mother had always left the rice porridge for her before, and it must be the same this time.

"I'll get another bowl." Taylor was about to move when a soft little hand rested on his shoulder.

"No, she doesn't deserve to drink my porridge." Ophelia said in a cold tone, glancing at Amy.

Don't think she doesn't know. In the past, Amy gave the rice porridge that she was reluctant to eat to Michelle, and the "mother and daughter" shared the rice porridge with deep affection.

And now, this ungrateful little bastard can forget about getting a bite of food from her.

"Ophelia, you're going too far. Other mothers would save the rice porridge for their cubs. Why are you so selfish and say Amy doesn't deserve it!" Michelle hugged Amy in her arms with heartache and scolded her.

Loki was so angry that veins popped out on his forehead. "You are so selfish. No wonder Amy doesn't like you as a mother. Instead, she likes Michelle and wants to recognize her as her mother."

Such words could no longer hurt Ophelia's heart.

Her face was expressionless, her eyes glaring, her tone nonchalant. "Yes, yes, yes, you're absolutely right. You've let this little female cub stare at someone else's bowl of porridge. You've failed as a father and are truly useless!"

"You are her mother, not someone else."

"Hey, did you get this rice? Or did you make this porridge? I seem to remember that you didn't even get me a mouthful of rice porridge when I was in confinement after giving birth."

"Even in the past five years, you've never cared about my food and drink. It's always been Taylor who's taken care of me. As a male, you expect other males to take care of your partner. That's really pathetic."

"Loki, it's not shameful to admit your incompetence." Every word she said was like a slap in Loki's face.

Loki's face turned red but he couldn't find a reason to refute.

During these five years, he indeed did not care about Ophelia's food and drink, because he gave all the prey he hunted to Michelle.

Every time they teamed up to hunt, they could only get so much prey. He had no extra prey to give to Ophelia. Fortunately, she didn't starve to death, so he pretended not to know.

Amy was also dumbfounded when she heard this. She always thought that the endless prey and occasional fresh fruits in the house were brought by her father, but she didn't expect that they were actually hunted by Taylor.

Even though she was young, she knew that when a male and a female form a pair, they would take on the responsibility of taking care of their partner. However, her father's behavior...

She didn't understand.

Having his face stripped in front of his beloved, Loki's fists clenched until they made a creaking sound.

Ophelia's face showed a hint of impatience. "Tell me, what do you want to do here?"

Thinking of her face, Amy took a step forward, looking pitiful. "Mom, Dad has found the aloe vera, but we can't tell which one is non-toxic. I want you to help take a look."

"Ophelia, you are Amy's mother after all. You definitely don't want her to suffer all the time, right?" Michelle smiled gently, like a pure and flawless little white flower, but the words she said carried the implication of moral kidnapping.

"I can't tell either. I always have to try it myself to know. Since you're so worried about her, why don't you try it on your face and find out? Anyway, one of them is bound to be non-toxic. It just depends on your luck."

"Or you can come, Loki. After all, you can't bear to see your daughter suffer, and you can't bear to see your loved one get hurt, right?" Ophelia blinked, then showed an expression of watching a good show.

Haha, who doesn’t know how to use moral kidnapping?

Loki frowned, but he was too embarrassed to force Ophelia to try the medicine.

The three of them came here excitedly, but finally left in disgrace and disappointment.

"I'll go heat up some porridge for you."

Ophelia stopped him. "I need some animal skins. Taylor, do you have any?"

She touched her nose guiltily.

"There's another wolf skin. Are you going to make a fur skirt for Loki?" He had originally intended to keep this wolf skin for himself for the winter. As expected, no matter how violent the princess was, she still loved Loki in her heart.

He lowered his head so as not to let the other person see his disappointment.

"How is that possible? I made him a fur skirt. Is he crazy? Don't worry, I have a use for it. I'll return it to you in two days." A wolf skin can be exchanged for 200 points, which will give her points for the next wave of rice planting.

Once she has harvested all the rice, she can easily exchange it for animal skins at the market.

"Okay, I'll get it later." Taylor said in a cheerful tone, and even his eyes brightened a little.

"Okay." Ophelia smiled sweetly.

After dinner, she returned to the farm space to harvest rice.

Finally, by noon the next day, the 200 kilograms of rice were harvested.

The farm space is still reliable. The harvested rice is directly husked and transformed into white and plump rice.

Smelling the fragrance of rice, she felt that everything was worth it. She then exchanged the wolf skin for 200 points and raced against time to plant square meters of rice.

Before Taylor came to deliver lunch, she took out 50 kilograms of rice from the system space, wrapped it in the only remaining animal skin in the room and put it in a backpack woven from vines.

"Princess, this is..." Taylor was immediately aware of the aroma of rice as soon as he entered the house. He was surprised to see a whole basket of rice.

"Shh, it's a secret." Ophelia put her index finger between her lips and winked at him.

"Let's finish eating quickly and then go to the market to exchange things."

"You should keep this rice, Princess. I'll hunt for anything you want."

Ophelia shook her head. "Listen to me and don't argue."

After lunch, Ophelia came to the Beast World Trading Market under Taylor's guidance.

It is called a trading market, but it is actually an open space on the edge of the forest. Animal skins are casually spread on the ground and items to be traded are placed on them, waiting for people in need to come and exchange items.

Food is a hot commodity in the world of beasts. Ophelia attracted the attention of the 'merchants' and 'guests' present by simply putting the rice out without shouting.

"It's not the rice season yet. Where did you get so much rice, little female?" A male with short black hair was very excited.

"A secret." Facing the male's excitement, Ophelia's face remained calm.

"My name is Gavin. My partner just gave birth and is in confinement. Can I trade crystals for some rice?"

Rice matures in autumn, and it is still summer now. He has been waiting in the trading market for half a month but has not found any rice.

This time he finally got the chance, and he had to exchange it for rice no matter what.

"I'd be willing to pay you double the salary." Thinking of his partner at home who was weak after giving birth, Gavin's eyes turned red.

"No, it's a normal transaction. Ten prey or one red crystal for a one-pound bag of rice. There's no limit." Ophelia quoted the normal transaction price and did not raise the price due to the summer food shortage.

As for the unlimited amount, it is because she needs to quickly recover funds and redeem points.

The quantity will be limited in the future to prevent malicious hoarding and driving up prices.

"I, I have an orange crystal here. Can I really exchange it for ten bags of rice?"

"Of course, but you need to bring your own animal skin bag. I don't have any here." Animal skins can be exchanged for points, but she is reluctant to make animal skin bags to carry food.
