Chapter 144 Male Selection Tournament
The news that Ali, the sister of the White Tiger King, was choosing her first partner quickly spread.

In the past two days, many single males from nearby tribes have come to Ophelia to inquire about the veracity of her story.

Ophelia was asked these questions by the men every day.

Having exhausted all other options, Ophelia sought out Ali to ask her what she truly thought.

"Ali, what are you thinking? Do you really want to choose your partner through a duel?"

Ali frowned. "Really? Since Laxus doesn't like me, what's wrong with me finding another partner?"

"Ali, you..."

Ophelia saw that Ali was clearly heartbroken and ready to give up on herself.

"Ari, it's not your fault that Laxus doesn't like you. Don't make the wrong choice because of a moment of anger."

“Your brother certainly wouldn’t want to see you like this either.”

Ali felt a lump in her throat as she looked at Ophelia's concern for her.

She threw herself into Ophelia's arms, her voice choked with sobs. "Sister, why doesn't Laxus like me? What's wrong with me?"

"It's not your fault that he doesn't like you."

Furthermore, the reason Laxus didn't confront Ali was because he felt inferior.

However, she couldn't very well say it directly.

After all, Laxus is stubborn; if he doesn't want to, he won't agree no matter what others say.

Rather than giving Ali hope only to disappoint her, it's better for her to never know.

Ali sniffed and regained her former proud little princess demeanor.

"Sister, you're right. It's not my fault that he doesn't like me; he's just unlucky."

"Sister, tell those males who asked that I will be holding a dueling tournament tomorrow."

"Any males who want to be my partner, let them come tomorrow."

Seeing her resolute expression, Ophelia sighed helplessly. "Since you insist, I won't try to persuade you anymore."

The pressure of competition might give Laxus a push.

So Ophelia went back and told the male who came to inquire about Ali's upcoming arena match the next day.

She also had the news relayed to the Golden Dragon Clan.

Laxus returned from hunting in the evening and was slightly taken aback when he heard his tribesmen talking.

As soon as he returned to the stone house, Rebecca came out to greet him and asked anxiously.

"Laxus, do you know about Ali choosing a partner?"

Laxus pursed his lips and nodded silently.

"Why does Ali suddenly want to travel with others? Is someone from the Fu tribe bullying her?" Rebecca asked with concern.

"How about I let Ali come and live with our Golden Dragon Clan? With your father and me here, no one will dare to bully her."

Laxus shook his head. "No one bullied her; she herself fell in love with a male."

"Who has she fallen for?" Hearing Laxus say this, my heart, which had been hanging in suspense, eased a little.

However, she became a little anxious when she heard that Ali had fallen for a male.

Have you seen the male? What's his character like?

"It's Ram."

"Ram? That traveling merchant?" Rebecca had some recollection of Ram.

“He’s alright in his dealings with people, but he’s not very stable. He often has to go out to exchange things and can’t stay home with Ali. Females would feel insecure with a male like that.”

Laxus's eyes lit up when he heard that Rebecca also disapproved of Ali and Ram going together.

“Mother, you’re right. Why don’t you go to the Fu tribe tomorrow to see Ali and try to persuade her?”

“You’re right, you’ll take me to Fuzu first thing tomorrow morning.”

"Young females should mate, but we can't let her make choices on important matters lightly, lest she regret it later."

So the next morning, Laxus took Rebecca to the Fu tribe.

Ophelia was somewhat surprised to see Rebecca arrive so suddenly.

"Mother, why are you here? Has something happened?" "What's wrong with you, girl? Ali is going to have such a big event as going out with friends, and you didn't even send anyone to tell me."

“Your taste has never been good. What if your aunt chooses a male like Loki?” Rebecca stopped mid-sentence.

She glanced at Ophelia secretly, and seeing that Ophelia didn't seem displeased, she quickly changed the subject.

Ophelia smiled. "Mother, don't worry, I'll keep an eye on things, nothing will happen."

Even if Ali does choose a male today, she still has to get past Klein.

Given how much Klein dotes on Ali, he wouldn't let her casually associate with any male.

That's why she's not worried.

Ophelia looked at Laxus beside her. "Brother, the arena match is coming up soon, do you want to stay here and help keep an eye on things?"

Before Laxus could speak, Rebecca quickly said, "Ari is now considered his sister, so of course he has to stay."

Laxus, upon hearing this, did not refuse again.

So after breakfast, all the single males from each tribe arrived.

Ophelia then led Rebecca, Ali, and the others to the open space in front of the Fu tribe.

Looking at the large group of males, Ophelia estimated that there were about a hundred of them.

It seems the title of "White Tiger King's Sister" is quite appealing.

"You should know what a duel arena is, but even the final winner must pass a test before becoming Ali's first partner."

“If a male of questionable character wins, we will not let him be Ali’s partner.”

"If any of you are of bad character, then please leave now."

"Of course, you are also welcome to report on each other."

As soon as Ophelia said this, some males immediately stood up and accused each other.

In no time, forty people were eliminated from the team of about a hundred.

Ophelia examined them again and kicked out the odd-looking males from the group as well.

After two waves, only thirty people remained.

Some of the males were unwilling, but they were all suppressed by Laxus, Taylor, and Zeref's imposing manner and could only leave dejectedly.

"Now, you can have a head-to-head duel. Whoever falls to the ground first loses, and the winner advances to the next round."

"However, I hope you will stop here and not cause any fatalities."

If someone were to die during the duel tournament, it would be bad for the reputation of the Fu Clan and Ali.

The males all nodded in agreement.

Before long, the thirty males were locked in combat.

By noon, the outcome would be quite clear.

Only ten people remained out of the thirty.

Seeing the males sweating profusely and panting heavily, Ophelia called a halt.

"You can go back and rest first, and come back to compete this afternoon when you're refreshed."

Ophelia glanced at the remaining males. Two of them looked familiar; they were from the Golden Dragon Clan. The others were from the Fu Clan tribe.

"Okay." The ambitious team had also expended a lot of energy throughout the morning.

They naturally wanted to go back to recuperate and fight again.

"Brother, what do you think of these males?" Ophelia asked Laxus tentatively.

Ali also secretly observed the expression on Laxus's face.

Laxus's expression was serious. "Not bad."

Rebecca was delighted. "I saw some promising talents among them, but I didn't expect our Ali to be so popular."

"However, a partner is very important, so you should choose carefully."

Faced with Rebecca's teasing, Ali's pale cheeks regained some color. "Okay, I understand."

The next chapter will be a little late; I need to take my family to the hospital.
