Chapter 229 Killed by a flurry of blows
When Ye Wanshu returned to her residence, Consort Zhang and her entourage had just come out to greet her when she suddenly felt unwell.

She was dizzy and confused, which frightened Consort Zhang and Fu Yunni so much that their faces turned pale. They quickly stepped forward to support her.

Helping her back to Mu Cang Zhai, Consort Zhang immediately summoned a physician to take her pulse.

Seeing the physician's furrowed brows, Consort Zhang hurriedly asked, "What's wrong, Your Highness?"

"Your Highness," the physician said with some difficulty, "the Crown Princess is pregnant."

"Xixi pulse?"

Consort Zhang covered her mouth somewhat embarrassedly, thinking about how her son had done something big without saying a word, and cursed inwardly, "What a damned little bastard."

Upon learning that Ye Wanshu was unwell, Emperor Zhaolie disregarded everything else and personally rushed to Mu Cang Zhai. Hearing that the girl was pregnant, he was overjoyed.

Approaching, Emperor Zhaolie appeared much more energetic.

"Our imperial family finally has an heir! Heaven has truly rewarded us!" Emperor Zhaolie said excitedly to himself, "Wan'er, you must take good care of yourself."

"Your Majesty, it's all my fault for failing to discipline him properly," Consort Zhang said, secretly pleased but still maintaining a self-reproachful tone, "that unfilial son..."

"Hey, this isn't Jinghe's fault, nor is it Mingchi's fault."

Emperor Zhaolie said helplessly, "It is all my fault for being incompetent, which has kept the country of Daye in turmoil and caused the marriage between Jinghe and the Crown Prince to be delayed again and again. I don't have much time left, and I only hope to see Mingchi produce offspring for the imperial family as soon as possible."

“Your Majesty, you must not say such things,” said Consort Zhang. “Your Majesty will surely enjoy a long and blessed life.”

"You don't need to comfort me. I have long since become indifferent to life and death." Emperor Zhaolie waved his hand at her, his face full of smiles. "I want to take advantage of my good health to do everything I can."

Having said that, he immediately summoned several palace servants and said impatiently, "Draft an edict for me, posthumously conferring upon my brother Fu Yancheng the title of Crown Prince, establishing Jinghe as the Crown Princess, and making the Crown Prince's son the eldest grandson of the Emperor."

"Your Majesty, isn't this a bit too early?" Ye Wanshu said somewhat nervously, "The child in my womb may not even be a boy yet."

"With my blessing, it must be a boy without a doubt." Emperor Zhaolie said with unusual firmness, then silently put his hands together and prayed in secret: "May our ancestors bless Jinghe so that he may have many descendants in my Great Ye, and may the future of my Great Ye be promising."

Seeing the emperor's earnest and devout expression, Fu Yunni couldn't help but chuckle to herself: "Uncle Emperor, what if my sister-in-law gives birth to a princess?"

"Crow's Mouth."

Emperor Zhaolie pursed his lips, then looked back at Ye Wanshu with a smile: "Wan'er, don't put too much pressure on yourself. If she really is a princess, the Crown Prince and I will both like her."

"Thank you, Your Majesty," Ye Wanshu said, pursing her lips.

At this moment, what she cared about most was Fu Mingchi's safety, hoping that he could defeat the northern bandits and return safely.

As dusk settled, the battle raged between the Daqiu cavalry and the newly incorporated army, and the area outside the East Palace was already awash in blood.

Although the new recruits of Daye were not as skilled in battle as the iron cavalry of Daqiu, they had the advantage of numbers and were all determined to fight the enemy together. Therefore, Helian Jiu and her troops did not gain any advantage this time.

Just as the two sides were exhausted from the battle, suddenly a large number of cavalrymen appeared from all directions, holding torches and quickly surrounding the area.

Just as Gu Tingchen was basking in his newfound glory after seizing the imperial seal, he suddenly noticed Ji Yunze riding a tall horse charging towards him.

"You stinking scholar, weren't you demoted to Qizhou? Why are you in Lin'an?" Gu Tingchen sensed something was wrong and stared at him in astonishment. "That's none of the Prince of Dao'an's concern," Ji Yunze smiled slightly and instructed Zhu Wencai, "General Zhu, I'll trouble you to retrieve the Imperial Seal."

Seeing the imperial seal fall into Gu Tingchen's hands, Helian Jiu was furious and about to snatch it back when Gu Tingchen kicked her away, saying, "What time is it? You vixen, you're still thinking about the imperial seal. We've been tricked."

"That's because you, you bastard, broke your promise and trusted that little bitch from the Ye family so easily!" Helian was furious and gripped his sword tightly, still ready to fight him.

Gu Tingchen tightly protected the imperial seal with one hand, while pointing his knife at her with the other: "I forbid you to call her a slut."

Helian Jiu shook his head speechlessly: "Gu Tingchen, you are extremely stupid. Can't you see that that little bitch doesn't even have eyes for you?"

“Impossible,” Gu Tingchen refused to give up. “Wanwan is just angry that I put her in danger back then. As long as I kill you today, she will definitely accept me again.”

Watching the two villains play a childish bickering game in the marketplace, Ji Yunze lost his patience and waved his hand: "Take them all down."

Zhu Wencai and his men immediately surrounded Gu Tingchen, while Qizhou general Chen Ping led his men to capture Helian Jiu.

Seeing the situation around him deteriorate rapidly, with endless iron cavalry from Daye stretching as far as the eye could see, Helian Jiu had no idea where this army had suddenly appeared from. In astonishment, he retreated repeatedly.

"My imperial brother has led 300,000 cavalry and is about to arrive in Lin'an. You must not act rashly," Helian Jiu warned loudly.

Ji Yunze smiled and said, "Princess Helian is still hoping that your brother will come to Lin'an. I'm afraid you and your brother can only reunite in the underworld."

At his command, all the Qizhou troops rushed toward Helian Jiu and the remaining Daqiu soldiers, taking down the two rebel forces with almost no effort.

As Gu Tingchen struggled and was being escorted away after Zhu Wencai took back the imperial seal, Ji Yunze stepped forward and kicked him to the ground. Thinking of the past, he stomped hard on Gu Tingchen's face without hesitation.

"You stinking scholar, that's all you've got," Gu Tingchen sneered. "You've been relentlessly pursuing Wanwan, but in the end, you still haven't won her heart."

Upon hearing this, Ji Yunze's anger became even more palpable.

If it weren't for this scoundrel interfering, he would have already married the princess.

His hand holding the knife trembled uncontrollably. He gritted his teeth and suddenly thrust the sword directly into Gu Tingchen's shoulder. The tip of the knife, mixed with blood, churned incessantly on his shoulder. Gu Tingchen coughed up blood, but his reddened eyes were fixed on the direction of the Ji residence as he struggled to crawl forward.

"Wanwan, your cousin doesn't believe you could be so heartless to me," Gu Tingchen murmured to himself.

"How dare you mention her?"

Ji Yunze grew angrier as he listened, and suddenly drew his sword, plunging it deep into his back.

"Wanwan, your cousin never intended to abandon you," Gu Tingchen said to himself, enduring the pain shooting through his back.

"You despicable and shameless scoundrel! If it weren't for you, the princess wouldn't have suffered so much!"

Ji Yunze flew into a rage and drew his sword, hacking wildly at Gu Tingchen. Zhu Wencai was horrified and was about to stop him when he looked over and saw that Gu Tingchen was already lying in a pool of blood, his body mangled beyond recognition.

"This man has committed numerous evils. Wouldn't it be too lenient for Ji Sima to just kill him like this?" Zhu Wencai complained indignantly.

Seeing Ji Yunze's sinister expression, he couldn't say anything more. He could only order his soldiers to clean up the corpses near the East Palace and then lead his men back to the Ji residence to report back.
