Chapter 203 Commitment
In the dimly lit room, Wu Xuan's dark figure sat with his legs spread on the edge of the bed, his large hands covering his face. He looked towards the door when he heard footsteps.

The female, fresh from her sexual encounter, entered, leaning against the doorframe. Her snow-white face was flushed, and her eyes were brimming with lingering tears when she looked up…

Wu Xuan had been eavesdropping for days and was so tormented that he couldn't sleep at all. Now, facing her in this state, he felt a dull pain in his heart.

Instead of approaching, he averted his gaze as if trying to escape.

In the quiet cabin, Wen Shu noticed the loneliness in his eyes. Her long eyelashes trembled, and she immediately realized that he, who lived next door, might have overheard something.

Intense guilt and heartache completely overwhelmed any sense of shame.

Postponing her need to take a bath, she knelt beside the bed, took Wu Xuan's cool hand in hers, gently pressed her face against his palm, and whispered, "Wu Xuan, don't ignore me..."

Her aggrieved voice, like cotton, enveloped Wu Xuan's heart. His jaw was clenched, clearly showing he was still sad, and he couldn't bear to make Wen Shu feel bad.

But he was really scared...

Wu Xuan's eyes welled up with tears. He slightly raised his eyelids, his golden eyes gazing tenderly at Wen Shu's face, tears streaming down his cheeks.

"Ah Shu."

His voice trembled as he looked at the gentle-looking woman in front of him, unable to suppress the bittersweet feeling welling up inside him. He reached out and pulled Wen Shu into a tight embrace.

A large, burning hot hand gripped her lower back tightly, and the man's tear-streaked face buried in Wen Shu's neck, the heat dampening the stray hairs on the back of her neck.

"Ah Shu, I'm scared..."

A deep, husky murmur brushed against his ear, making Wen Shu's heart tremble. Not understanding what he was thinking, she could only wrap her arms around his firm waist and hug him back even tighter.

"Wu Xuan, what's wrong?" She stroked the slightly prickly hair on the side of his neck, kissed his cheek, and coaxed him softly, "Tell me, okay?"

The sweet fragrance lingered on his face, a bitter taste rose in Wu Xuan's throat, and he looked up at Wen Shu.

Meeting her gentle and deep gaze eased my agonizing heart a little.

"I'm afraid that one day..."

He hesitated, afraid that the answer he asked would embarrass him even more, and swallowed his words back.

Holding Wen Shu in her arms, she tried to change the subject.

This wasn't the first time he'd thrown a tantrum, and Wen Shu immediately saw through it. She hooked her arm around the back of his neck, pulled him down a little angrily, and scolded, "Didn't we agree that you could tell me whatever you were thinking? You didn't keep your word."

She put on a stern face to show her displeasure, and Wu Xuan immediately shook his head nervously.

He breathed heavily for two seconds, but his lips remained tightly pressed together, as if he couldn't bring himself to say what was on his mind.

Seeing that he refused to speak, Wen Shu looked directly into his eyes. When he chose to look away, she felt a deep sense of powerlessness. "Wu Xuan, are you angry? Or... do you not trust me?"

Her voice was serious, and the air in the room seemed to freeze instantly.

Wu Xuan's pupils constricted, and he felt the arm at the back of his neck fall down as he spoke. A strong sense of panic surged through him. "No!"

He held his breath, hurriedly grasped Wen Shu's hand, and stammered, his eyes red-rimmed, "I'm just... I'm afraid that with so many men around you, and perhaps even more in the future, what if one day..."

He paused as if he were suffocating, took a deep breath, and said heavily, "You no longer like me, and even...forgot me."

Tears dripped onto the back of her hand, and Wen Shu flinched as she felt the burn.

Hearing his tearful murmur, it felt as if a large hand was gripping my heart tightly, making it hard to breathe.

She had no idea that Wu Xuan would worry about this.

Her arms were held tightly, and Wu Xuan's heavy head rested against her shoulder, still silently shedding tears.

Wen Shu frowned slightly, cupped his wet face, and gazed deeply into those hazy golden eyes. "Wu Xuan, no one can replace you. I will always love you, and I will never forget you. Do you hear me?"

Upon hearing her words, Wu Xuan's eyes flashed with surprise.

Wen Shu lowered her long eyelashes and said in a serious voice, "I promise you, there will never be anyone else besides you."

Solemn words slowly echoed in the silent cabin. Wu Xuan opened her eyes wide, feeling the surrounding noise disappear, and the background of the room in her vision turned into an illusion, leaving only Wen Shu's snow-white face.

He opened his mouth, and the chaotic thoughts in his mind finally stopped, but he didn't forget that there was still Rach searching for Ashu.

Ah Shu treated him differently, and everyone could see it, otherwise she wouldn't have taken him in, but Ah Shu seemed unwilling to admit it.

Wu Xuan hugged Wen Shu tightly, seemingly lost in thought. He was already very satisfied with her promise.

But if Lach comes looking for her, will Ashu feel sad or embarrassed...?

"Where is Lach?"

Drawing a sense of security from the embrace, Wu Xuan's timidity subsided, and she asked rather bluntly.

Upon hearing Lach's name, Wen Shu was momentarily stunned. Her feelings towards him were truly complicated, and sometimes she couldn't even understand her own thoughts.

After only a moment's hesitation, Wu Xuan understood. Suppressing his surging jealousy, he curled his lips into a smile. "I remember what you just said, A-Shu can't go back on her word! But..."

He leaned close to Wen Shu and gently touched the tip of her nose. "Rah and Shu have a spiritual contract. If Shu likes it, I'll reluctantly turn a blind eye."

After saying that, he pinched Wen Shu's stunned face and chuckled softly, "But, this is a one-time exception."

"Wu Xuan..."

Wen Shu came to her senses and wanted to retort harshly, but suddenly there was a knock on the door.

Luo Fei's voice echoed softly from outside the door, "Wu Xuan, is A Shu here with you?"

His clear voice was tinged with anxiety.

Wen Shu and Wu Xuan exchanged glances. Seeing that he was about to speak, they covered his mouth, shook their heads silently, and whispered in his ear.

“He went too far. I don’t want to talk to him right now. I’ll just say I’m asleep.”

She was charmed by her cautious manner, and Wu Xuan smiled and hugged her, doing as she was told.

When Luo Fei reluctantly left, Wen Shu wanted to stay with Wu Xuan a little longer, but she felt incredibly sticky.

"Wu Xuan, I need to take a shower first. Could you go get me some food?"

No sooner had he finished speaking than his stomach rumbled.

She was taken aback, while Wu Xuan smiled faintly and gently rubbed her head. "Go wash up first, I'll be back soon."

As Wu Xuan left, the cabin quieted down. Wen Shu didn't take any change of clothes, but dragged one of Wu Xuan's robes from the wardrobe, washed it carefully, and then lay down in the bathtub.

The warm water enveloped her body. She rested her hands on the edge of the tub, let out a comfortable sigh, and began to plan for the future.

Summer lasts three months; they'll stay for two months, then Bai Qiao will be due to give birth, and she'll have to go help out, then to Yu Dongcheng…

These days are a bit boring, so I'll rent a shop and make use of my superpowers!

And then there's Yining, who recently developed a contraceptive drug with Luo Fei that has no side effects, and is now working on other things.

She could join in, research some novel things that only exist in modern times, and put them in the shop to sell; many orcs would definitely like them!

She was happily imagining the future when the ship suddenly lurched, and the sound of waves crashing against the deck echoed behind her.

Wen Shu turned around and saw that in the darkness, surging waves crashed against the round window, and in the swaying light and shadow, winding water streaks flowed.

Is it going to rain again?

She was puzzled, but in just a moment, the moonlight silently poured down, and the sea became calm.

"Weird..."

She sat up, her hand gripping the edge of the bucket suddenly stiffening, when she heard a soft creaking sound from behind her.
