Chapter 162 Romand's Test
Flying over the azure sea and around countless towering cliffs, a massive crescent-shaped island came into view.

The island is lush with greenery, and a magnificent long staircase made of sparkling pebbles runs from the sharp corners to the grand castle in the center of the island.

Looking around, countless dragon-like beastmen, transformed into pterosaurs, were either basking in the sun on the long steps or scavenging for something on the shore...

Dragons seem to prefer living in beast form.

Wen Shu carried Luo Fei back to the ground, and walked hand in hand with Lahe up the long steps, marveling at the magnificence of Dragon Island as they went.

But on the way, they encountered a pterosaur sunbathing.

As he turned over, he saw Luo Fei in Wen Shu's arms, its long tail swinging into the middle of the road, blocking their way.

Upon seeing the baby pterosaur, the old man's eyes widened for a moment, a dark glint in them. "Oh dear, whose cub is this? How did it get so badly injured?"

It extended its claws with incredible speed, the sharp claws aimed straight at the little winged dragon's head.

Caught off guard, Wen Shu tensed her arms, instinctively leaned back, took a half-step back, and deliberately fell into Lach's arms.

The old pterosaur didn't hold back at all; its claws tore through the clothes on her waist, revealing a small patch of snow-white skin.

He tried to launch another sneak attack, but was struck by a powerful snake tail, leaving a deep bloody gash on his head.

Lach held Wen Shu tightly, his snake tail scales bristling dangerously, a dark fire burning in his eyes. "Romande, is this how you treat your guests!"

Ignoring everything else, he flicked his long tail and strangled the old pterosaur's neck. With a slight exertion, the snake's tail became covered in sticky blood.

At this moment, Romand slowly stepped forward and said, "He is a wanted criminal on the entire Dragon Island. If you don't want to cause trouble, hide him well."

His voice was deep and languid, with a hint of inexplicable laughter. His gaze swept over the trembling figure in Rach's arms, seemingly casually. "However, harming females is not a rule of Dragon Island."

With just a pause in their speech, several pterosaurs transformed into human form, preparing to escort the old orc away.

But Lach narrowed his eyes, intending to do it himself.

Noticing their movements, Wen Shu turned her head to the side, but before she could speak, her eyes met Romand's.

His lips curved slightly, a half-smile that sent a chill down her spine.

"What do you mean?"

Wen Shu gripped Lach's arm tightly, not looking away guiltily, but hiding the little pterosaur and glaring at Romand, "If I find it, it's mine."

She pouted, buried her head in Rach's arms, and looked up at him. "Rach, let him go! Otherwise, if more people see us, they'll try to steal my things again!"

After saying that, she grabbed Rach and ran towards the castle in two strides, her ears perked up as she watched the old orc's movements.

Strangely, they seemed to have gagged the old orc, preventing him from even uttering a sound...

Romand followed closely behind, recalling what had just happened.

Even knowing she would get hurt, the female still protected Luo Fei, and there was a fleeting moment of tension.

Could it be that she and her beloved younger brother...

The smile deepened at the corners of his eyes.

Why don't we just test the waters and see?

After arriving at the castle with Lach, a young orc led them to their room.

After closing the door and confirming that no one was outside, Wen Shu breathed a sigh of relief and sat wearily on the bed.

Seeing that she was exhausted and pale, Rach approached with a glass of water. "Mistress, have some."

Ripples spread across the clear water.

Wen Shu was indeed thirsty, but upon arriving on Dragon Island, she was met with a blatant attack, and then there was that Romande...

She rubbed her forehead and gently pushed it away, saying, "Put it down, this place isn't safe."

Lach understood her concerns; seeing that her lips were dry and chapped, and a look of worry flashed in her eyes, he poured the contents into her mouth.

Wen Shu was somewhat surprised. Before she could ask a question, Lach poured her another glass and placed it in her palm. "You can drink it."

He pondered for a few seconds, then leaned close to her ear mysteriously and said earnestly, "I'm tough and resistant to poison. When we go to eat later, you can move on whatever I'm eating."

His deep voice, with a hint of naive gentleness, was the complete opposite of his previous pretense.

Wen Shu touched the rim of the cup with her fingertips and inexplicably felt that it was a little hot.

Rach squatted down in front of her, his burning blue eyes fixed on her without blinking.

The intensity in his eyes was too direct.

Wen Shu gripped the water glass tightly, her long eyelashes drooping to avoid eye contact, and drank the water in the glass in one gulp.

"Thank you."

She wiped her lips, placed the water glass on the wooden cabinet, and then picked up Luo Fei to check his injuries. Hearing her somewhat indifferent tone, Lach's heart tightened. He crouched down and took a few steps closer, wanting to strike up a conversation with her.

The only responses I got were a few back-and-forth phrases like "Mm," "I know," and "I'll do it myself."

The female is angry...

Lach squatted down on the spot, somewhat dejected, recalling everything that had just happened, but still couldn't understand what he had done.

"The leader has prepared food in the main hall and invites our distinguished guests to come and enjoy it. Also, a set of clothes."

There was a knock on the door.

Lach stretched out his broad body, took the tray, and upon seeing that it was a gold-embroidered red dress, his face turned somewhat sour.

He hasn't given any gifts to females yet.

After giving Luo Fei a simple bandage, Wen Shu shook off her long skirt, her brows furrowing slightly.

"It's too long, it's inconvenient to move around."

She put the tray back, pulled out a set of clothes from the wardrobe, and hugged the little pterosaur in her arms. "If anyone asks, just say I hate red."

Their room was next to the main hall, and as they arrived, orcs carrying plates continued to enter.

Wen Shu had been hungry for most of the day, and her stomach was flat, but when she sat down at the dining table, she had no appetite.

Romand is very cautious; he hasn't been able to use his powers yet.

The male lead has an unpredictable personality, and she was genuinely afraid of being poisoned, so she symbolically inserted two pieces of flesh.

But as he said, after taking a couple of bites, Lach stuffed all the safe food into her plate.

Wen Shu gripped the bone knife tightly, hesitating to speak. In the moment of his daze, a fragrant aroma wafted to his nose, and his lips suddenly felt warm.

Her long eyelashes trembled, and she looked up to meet Rach's concerned gaze.

"Wen Shu," he slowly leaned closer, his blue eyes filled with an abrupt sincerity, "it was my fault, don't be angry, can you eat something?"

The food was burning hot on his lips. Wen Shu calmed himself down, thinking he was acting, and snorted before taking a bite.

"I'll reluctantly forgive you."

Seeing her chubby cheeks, like a cute little animal, Rach was overjoyed.

He curled his lips into a smile, then quickly pressed them down, as if he wanted to feed the female, but his hand was forcefully slapped away.

"I can eat by myself."

Romand, sitting opposite the two, watched this flirtatious scene and felt a chill run down his spine.

He truly hadn't expected that such a ruthless bandit like Lah could have such a lewd side.

It’s really hard to put into words.

He stopped cutting the meat, interrupting their interaction, "Wen Shu, why aren't you wearing a new dress?"

Wen Shu chewed on her meat and looked up to answer, but Lach spoke first, saying something she hadn't been taught.

"Because I didn't send it."

He lifted his eyelids, his face expressionless as he flattered himself, "Romande, females only like things given to them by their own beastmen, you don't understand."

"Cough cough cough-"

Wen Shu almost choked.

Romand, who was testing the waters, felt a strange ache in his teeth upon hearing this answer.

What is this bandit showing off?

It's just a...

He glanced at Wen Shu and saw that her eyes were red from choking, her clear eyes were moist, and her thin back trembled slightly like butterfly wings. He swallowed back the words of belittling.

I have to admit, she's very beautiful.

His brother has always had excellent taste.

"Wen Shu, you brought your pet along too?"

Romand chuckled softly and clapped his left hand. "Take him away and have someone treat him. If he dies, you'll be heartbroken."
