Chapter 256 Attack on the Command Post
Four Chinese soldiers on the driftwood floated downstream.

They kept a close watch on the movements around the river through their scopes.

Just as they were about to cross a bridge spanning the river, an explosion suddenly came from the jungle by the river. Then, through his night vision goggles, Yuan Lang saw that the bridge surface was in chaos, with densely packed guards running around and sounding the alarm.

A tank started up and drove toward the bomb site in the jungle, while a heavy machine gun positioned at the bridgehead turned around and fired fiercely into the jungle.

Yuan Lang removed his night vision goggles and put them into a waterproof case. With a wry smile, he instructed, "Turn on the safety. There's only one BMP2 on the bridge, a double 23-door truck, a platoon of soldiers, and two portable UVS vehicles. We can't afford to fight them head-on."

Cheng Cai used his frozen fingers to close the bolt with difficulty.

At Yuan Lang's command, they launched a stealth attack. The group nodded and silently disappeared into the water.

When they resurfaced, they were freezing.

Cheng Cai, who was somewhat delirious from the cold, was pulled up by Wu Zhe biting his collar.

Their physical strength began to deplete at an alarming rate.

Yuan Lang stared at the distant rainforest, his face pale. "We have to find a way to dry ourselves off, or we definitely won't make it through the night."

Wu Zhe, trembling, hugged Cheng Cai tightly. "Captain, what can we do?"

Yuan Lang narrowed his eyes. "Kill wild beasts. There are bears, bison, and wolves here. Kill them and wrap their skins around your body to keep warm. We haven't eaten all day, so we need to eat something to replenish our strength."

Cheng Cai and Wu Zhe exchanged a glance.

-

-

Under the cover of darkness, Feng Yuxiu began to run wildly, biting into the raw beef he had snatched from the bridgehead.

Behind him came a rushing international soldier and his hounds.

He didn't understand why he was being given such special attention.

Could it be that the group of Japanese has been discovered?
That's ridiculous, those things aren't human.

Suddenly, Feng Yuxiu glanced at the backpack on his body and finally understood.

He single-handedly took down all the guards at the bridgehead and stole their food.

This has resulted in the Chinese team having more supplies than any other team.

This is to prevent them from joining up with Yuan Lang and the others.

The dense lines of attackers behind them seemed to know their bravery and deliberately denied them the chance to engage in close combat.

If you insist on turning back, you will be hit by a stray bullet and eliminated.

Feng Yuxiu suddenly stopped and turned around, giving the middle finger to the pursuers behind him.

Go eat shit, you lot.

Immediately, all the energy within his body erupted like a jungle leopard in the night, instantly disappearing into the dense rainforest.

During the rainforest chase, these people must have eaten too much shit.

Sure enough, the pursuers stopped and looked through their night vision goggles, but all they could see were the surrounding barriers and some small wild animals.

"Let's go. Anyway, we just need to exhaust his energy and drive him out. We've achieved our goal; he's already strayed from his squad."

According to the map, Feng Yuxiu and Yuan Lang are now positioned at opposite corners of a triangle.

And more importantly... Feng Yuxiu is now close to his next mission.

A simulated minefield...

There are six simulated minefields here.

Feng Yuxiu suddenly stopped, and a glowing sign made him look up.

After carefully reading the warning above, Feng Yuxiu took a deep breath.

A minefield simulation, and it's a minefield at night...

What the hell are you talking about? To cross six large, open minefields so densely packed together at night?

Although these landmines are fake, they can be triggered, and once triggered, the player will be instantly eliminated.

He has to wait!

He was waiting for Wu Zhe to come, waiting for this genius to come.

His speed propelled the Chinese team from last place to second place.

Russia is currently the only country in the lead.

The Japanese team had already been crippled and eliminated by him, and it's unknown whether the remaining teams have given up.

But as long as he's not at the bottom, he can turn things around in other tasks.

Moreover, there is another team in this international competition.

Feng Yuxiu believed that their willpower was no less than that of Yuan Lang's team.

Therefore, he had to wait.

-

Ulyanov was watching Feng Yuxiu's figure through binoculars.

"This Chinese kid isn't making any progress."

Tuo Yang grinned, "If I don't move forward, I'd be out of my mind to keep going. There are six interconnected minefields ahead, and it's the middle of the night. I'd be eliminated 100% of the time."

"So what is he waiting for? His squad? Even if they do, how will they get through the night? The other squads are all resting where they are; they all sprinted during the day," Ulyanov asked, looking completely bewildered.

After a moment of contemplation, Toyang said, "I don't know either. Eight people have already died an hour ago."

Ulyanov seemed not to hear him and continued to stare at Feng Yuxiu's figure through his binoculars.

"Killed in action"—what a novel term.

International competitions are not child's play; when they participated, everyone knew the dangers of the competition.

Dying in battle is normal.

-

At night, the bellies of the three black wolves were opened by two hands.

Yuan Lang and the other two crawled out from inside.

"We're about to set off. We don't have much time left. We were already delayed from the start, and now we're definitely falling behind in the rankings."

"Now we know what this jungle means to us. The chain mines in the jungle can detonate more than a hundred at once. The hypothetical enemy has a huge appetite; a few engineers took out an entire squad." Wu Zhe said with some disdain.

How could a real war be conducted like this? A minefield laid by a few engineers was supposed to wipe out an entire squad.

Cheng Cai said in a deep voice, "The captain said yesterday that entering the jungle is the real death zone. I didn't understand it yesterday, but I do now."

"Let's go, the next one is a minefield, Xu Sanduo is waiting for us up ahead," Yuan Lang said confidently.

Cheng Cai asked, "How do you know he's definitely waiting for us up ahead?"

Yuan Lang laughed and said, "Because it's nighttime, and our mine-clearing genius is Wu Zhe. No matter how proud Xu Sanduo is, he can't possibly pass through the chain of minefields at night alone."

"Hurry up and seal the equipment; this thing might be the key to getting us through the minefield."

-

Half an hour later.

Yuan Lang and his two companions approached the vicinity of the minefield.

"Captain." Feng Yuxiu's voice rang out from the tree.

Upon hearing that familiar voice, Yuan Lang suddenly looked up. "Xu Sanduo, you really are here!"

Wu Zhe and Cheng Cai both showed joyful smiles.

"After I took down the guards at the bridgehead, I was chased by international soldiers and driven here, where I've been waiting for you ever since."

Yuan Lang smiled knowingly. "It really was you, kid. Otherwise, who else could have cleared out all the guards at the bridgehead? Wu Zhe, what do you guys call this kid in private?"

"Devilish Muscle Soldier, Captain."

"Yeah, yeah, you little rascal. The minefield is coming up next."

“Wu Zhe,” Yuan Lang said in a deep voice.

Wu Zhe smiled slightly, "Leave it to me."

-

-

Ulyanov was monitoring his field of vision through binoculars, where a suspension cable connected to the ravine stretched out above him.

"Another team has entered the mission area," Ulyanov said. Toyan asked in surprise, "How did they manage to get through the minefield?"

Ulyanov shrugged: "It uses a man-portable rocket launcher, a pretty good new gadget."

Toyan frowned. "There are still five minefields ahead. Each of those things weighs at least five or six kilograms, right? How many do you think they can carry? Infantry that rely too much on equipment, their strength is precisely their weakness."

Ulyanov shrugged. "We don't need to wait until then. Their demolition has already exposed their target. I believe this team will be dealt with by dawn."

Figures were already climbing up the zipline over there, their guns spitting out intense muzzle flashes as they blew up the moving targets on the opposite hilltop one by one.

When the last shot rang out, Ulyanov pressed the stopwatch on his hand: "Sixty-nine seconds, all targets hit, Lieutenant Colonel."

"A truly amazing result, isn't it? But I think this is the last event they won in the competition," Toyan exclaimed in admiration.

"Of course, the French team's arrogance will likely eliminate them tomorrow morning."

During the match, if the use of heavy firepower is detected, the player will face interception and attacks from the entire battlefield.

A four-man squad would definitely be intercepted and eliminated by the heavy weapons of more than two thousand international soldiers.

Therefore, when the French team used heavy firepower to forcibly destroy the simulated minefield and pass through, they were already eliminated.

To expose oneself so openly on the battlefield is tantamount to courting death.

-

-

Toyan scanned the hilltop one last time with his binoculars, then suddenly froze: "What team is that?"

He shouted.

A small team had already appeared on the opposite hilltop and had climbed the ropes.

Ulyanov picked up his binoculars and was equally surprised.

The gunshots had already rang out, so loud that it was impossible to hear the gap in aiming.

Many targets were knocked down almost as soon as they were set up, making it seem as if the shooter and the person manipulating the moving targets were in sync.

Meanwhile, the first person had already disappeared on the other side of the ravine. When the people behind jumped onto the opposite side of the ravine, they used their last shot to knock down the last target, and then they disappeared from sight.

Toyan put down his binoculars and looked at Ulyanov, who then remembered to put down his stopwatch.

Toyan pressed further, "How long?"

"All hits, thirty-eight seconds, if I'm not mistaken, including the time I wasted earlier."

"Which team is this?"

"I don't know, Lieutenant Colonel! Perhaps... it's that Chinese team."

How did they get through the minefield?

"I don't know, even the treetops are covered in mines, unless they flew in!"

Toyan muttered to himself, "I think this competition prohibits the use of things like individual flying machines... Go check it out immediately, and forget about those guys who are marching with rockets on their backs, let them die of exhaustion."

Ulyanov was still a little confused: "I can check the shell casings they left behind."

"No, mobilize all forces in this defense zone and find out where these ghosts are! Aren't you threatened yet, you idiot!"

At daybreak, Ulyanov rushed back to report to Toyan that they had not found the mysterious detachment. He said, "They've disappeared. They can't be found in F5 district, and they haven't passed through any adjacent areas either."

Toyan found it unbelievable. He said, "We set up this 200-kilometer-wide area entirely on our own. You know how many visible posts, hidden sentries, minefields, alarms, night vision, and aerial observation were deployed."

Ulyanov nodded: "I know."

"So you're telling me this is the result?" Toyan shook his head. "At least you should tell me which team it was, right? I believe you've already checked the shell casings."

Ulyanov said, "We can't find anything."

Ulyanov held up the cartridge case in his hand. "The rifles used by armies all over the world only have these few calibers: 5.56, 5.45, and 7.62, but the cartridge case I found does not belong to any of these."

Toyan took the spent cartridge from his hand, glanced at it, and his face quickly darkened:

"He's Chinese!"

"Only that country that doesn't like to follow the crowd has developed a bullet for its soldiers outside of the standard caliber, and that is, 5.8, made in China."

Toyang gazed into the distance and muttered to himself, "How did they even get through the minefield? Did they fly over here?"

-

-

Inside the jungle.

Feng Yuxiu stared at Wu Zhe in shock.

He never imagined that in such deep darkness, Wu Zhe would be able to determine where the landmines were buried based on the binding wires and intersections on the ground.

After observing for only half an hour, he suddenly stood up and made them follow him forward.

How exactly did he spot the traps the organizers had planted?

Wu Zhe laughed and said, "It's very simple. Landmines are laid out according to a specific plan. It's not just randomly placing one here and throwing one there. And once one is dug up, the others will be found in a very rhythmic manner. However, this only applies to this match."

"It's that simple?"

Wu Zhe was immediately delighted. "What do you mean by 'it's so simple'? There's a lot more to it than just guessing. Do you think this is something a child can do? It's very brain-intensive."

"Alright, let's continue swimming!" Yuan Lang said, making a decision that sent a chill down everyone's spine.

-

-

In the fog of the jungle, a piece of driftwood parted the fog and drifted over. Yuan Lang and Feng Yuxiu clung to the driftwood.

They were well-camouflaged, their upper bodies almost entirely covered by water plants and bushes, making them look like the withered branches and leaves found everywhere on a jungle river. Gun barrels protruding from the bushes kept watch on both sides of the riverbank.

Wu Zhe kept muttering, "That's great! Every mission location is our harbor. We'll go ashore and then back into the water. After completing the mission, we'll begin our voyage to foreign lands."

Yuan Lang glanced at him and said, "Don't try to be tough. I could hear your teeth chattering. If I smeared the face paint on you, and your face wasn't pale, I'd give you a pair of military boots."

Wu Zhe retorted, "Does the captain have a rosy complexion?"

Cheng Cai suddenly lowered his voice, "There's a boat at ten o'clock."

Without Yuan Lang giving any instructions, the group jumped into the water and dived in.

Only leaves were floating on the water.

A speedboat with a machine gun mounted on it sailed by. The soldiers on board could only see some branches and leaves; their attention was focused on the riverbank.

After the speedboat passed, Yuan Lang and the others quickly emerged from the water.

Wu Zhe exclaimed in shock, "Where are we? The security is getting tighter and tighter; three speedboats have passed by in just half an hour!"

“If we continue on foot, I’m worried that the waterway will also become impassable.” Cheng Cai hesitated before speaking.

Yuan Lang noticed this and said to Cheng Cai, "Cheng Cai, just say what you have to say."

Cheng Cai smiled slightly. "I'm being optimistic. The fact that the defenses are so tight means we're not as backward as we thought. The hypothetical enemy wouldn't be so heavily fortified in an area with only a few squads."

"I like this way of putting it." Wu Zhe gave Cheng Cai a thumbs up.

In the distance, the sound of helicopter rotors could be heard, and Yuan Lang and the others quickly submerged themselves in the water.

As soon as the helicopter flew over the river, Cheng Cai quickly slung the anti-tank rocket over his shoulder. Wu Zhe knew that Cheng Cai had his eye on an armored vehicle not far ahead, so he immediately loaded the rocket for him and then tapped his helmet to indicate that loading was complete.

In the blink of an eye, the armored vehicle on the shore began to billow white smoke.

Looking at the armored vehicles destroyed by the hypothetical enemy, Feng Yuxiu said, "We must get ashore. We can't destroy them like this. We must find the command post and take it down, then swim across the Atlantic to our destination to raise the flag."

"Only by destroying the command post can we stop being chased like this."

The group was shocked by Feng Yuxiu's sudden suggestion.

"The attack command will only receive the information last. Right now, we're completely in the dark. Xu Sanduo, are you saying we launched the attack ahead of schedule?"

Yuan Lang was not optimistic; they were completely clueless about the competition command center.

They're not revealing any information at all. What if they're on a helicopter? How can you find someone without a target?

Feng Yuxiu thought for a moment, "Here's what we'll do. I'll go and try the decapitation operation alone. You guys keep going. If I succeed, your speed will increase significantly. Don't worry, I won't fail. No one can beat me."

Yuan Lang pondered for a moment, "Okay, you're the only physical king among us. We'll be responsible for continuing to strike the target and move forward."

Infiltration reconnaissance, attacks on enemy command posts, and battlefield rescue.

These three major tasks are what all teams must complete, and now Feng Yuxiu wants to disrupt this rhythm.

They were always behind schedule.

We must take it back.
