The Witcher: Make Witcher Great Again

Chapter 377 Please Save Me, Sir

Chapter 377 Please Save Me, Sir (Part 2)
"That's fine. If your king has recently given you a long vacation and you'd like someone to travel with you, I happen to be available and can accompany you."

Triss's silvery voice rang out: "A very tempting offer, but unfortunately, it isn't."

Lynn sighed, "That's a real shame. Well, what is it?"

"I have a very important request that I need your help with."

"Name a place, and we'll discuss the details in person."

……

Outside a village not far from the city of Maripo.

A beam of light from a teleportation portal suddenly tore through the air.

A witcher and a sorceress emerged from the portal one after the other.

With Lynn's current powerful physique, passing through the portal would no longer cause him any discomfort.

Triss first entered the village and retrieved the two fine horses that she had previously entrusted to the village elder.

Then the two of them mounted their horses and headed for the city of Maripo.

"Now can we talk about that important request you mentioned?"

Triss then told Lynn about how Foltest had been marked with the Deep Sea Mark and how his condition had worsened after arriving in Maripo, a city far from the sea and deep inland.

“The Deep Sea Mark was under the watchful eye of the evil god Dagon, who is an evil god of the deep sea and has no power on land.”

"But I don't know why, after Foltest came to Maripo City, his condition did not improve at all, but instead became more serious."

After listening to Triss's troubles, Lynn smiled wryly and said, "So, that's why you came to me, hoping I could help you break the curse of the evil god?"

Triss really thinks highly of herself.

The last time he helped royalty and nobility solve a similar problem was back in Toussaint.

Moreover, the Duchess of Toussaint's entanglement with the demon's power was not due to the demon's direct influence.

Instead, centuries ago, the desperate Elf King prayed for a weapon blessed by a demon, and by a twist of fate, harmed the Duchess of Carbopol.

This is completely different from the current situation of King Foltest.

However, since Triss had approached him, Lynn would naturally do his best to help.

However, he was still very curious.

"Why don't you take the King to see Margarita? Aren't you alumni?"

Generally speaking, in situations like this, people usually think that a warlock is more suitable than a demon hunter.

After all, the original purpose of Witchers was simply to replace ordinary soldiers and act as warriors on the front lines of monster hunting.

Since they are warriors, knowledge unrelated to monsters is naturally considered "unnecessary to learn and master".

Not to mention that the lineage of witchers, regardless of their school of thought, has always been broken.

This is unlike the warlock's lineage, which has always been complete.

Triss shook her head with a wry smile.

“Margarita will not allow anyone to bring danger to Aretusa Academy, because Margarita and Tisaya are the same kind of people; they both value their students more than the king.”

To be honest, Triss herself didn't know why she was so confident that Lynn could handle the situation.

But she really had no better options at the moment. She could only choose to trust Lynn.

"Perhaps the situation isn't so bad."

After comforting Triss, Lynn began to reminisce.

He clearly remembered that this scene was not in the original storyline.

In the game, the evil god Dagon simply stays quietly at the bottom of Lake Vijima, waiting for the white wolf to come and cause trouble.

However, reality is not a game, and reality does not have to follow the "rules" of the game.

Theoretically speaking, Triss was right; staying away from land should indeed allow them to avoid the gaze of the evil god Dagon.

But Foltest's condition worsened, which can only mean one thing:
Just as the man who killed Foltest's sister and wife and turned his daughter into a monster, there was also a fellow in Maripó who couldn't stand seeing Foltest doing well.

An hour later, the walls of Maripo came into view.

With Triss leading the way, naturally no guard dared to stop them.

The two arrived directly at the manor where the king was staying without any hindrance.

"Your Majesty, where is Kayla?"

Triss looked around and found that apart from the king's guards, there was no other female sorceress who was also a royal advisor in the room.

“When you were not here, I felt the call of the deep sea once again. Kayla used a lot of magic to wake me up and is now resting.”

"Your Majesty, please excuse me, I'm going to see her."

After the sorceress left, Foltest looked at Lynn.

“Witcher,” Foltest’s face was even worse than when Beatrice left, even though she had only been gone for less than a day, “you really are my lucky stars. Last time, one of you saved my daughter, and now it seems my life is in your hands.”

Lynn knew that when Foltest mentioned "last time," he was referring to the vampire bird incident that occurred several years ago in the old royal palace:

Foltest's daughter died at birth, which also led to the death of her mother.

Foltest then buried the two in the underground crypt of the palace.

Seven years later, the dead baby miraculously came back to life, but in the form of a vampire bird.

The king summoned many wise men, hoping to resolve this problem.

Most of the wise men offered the king various ideas on how to kill the vampire bird, but only one hunchbacked hermit believed that the princess could still be saved, and he went to the underground tomb to try to save her.

Unfortunately, by the time the next morning arrived, there were hardly any remains of the hunchbacked hermit's body left, only his hat and cane lying on the ground.

Although the hunchbacked hermit failed, Foltest took the idea as a lifeline and forbade anyone from killing her after that. If anyone came for a bounty, they could only lift the curse of the vampire bird, and could not harm the princess.

However, such requirements were extremely demanding, so much so that even with the large crowd attracted by Foltest's three thousand orens, no one could meet them.

The swindlers were all hung on the fence outside the palace by Foltest, while the rest were eaten by the vampire birds.

Since no one could lift the curse, and the vampire bird was too dangerous, Foltest had no choice but to move out of the palace and rebuild a new one.

And so, the vampire bird wreaked havoc in the old palace for seven long years, until the famous Geralt of Rivia heard about the quest and came to Vizima.

He did indeed fulfill Foltest's request, without using a sword, and successfully lifted the curse, turning the vampire bird back into a princess.
