Chapter 472 An Old Friend, the Most Suitable Actor

Someone had previously told Roland that angels often reincarnate into this world within the church. The church would often send people to find the newborn angels and then bring these infants or toddlers to the sanctuary.

I've heard that there are quite a few people like that in the monastery of Vermik. Florence was one of them. She was relatively old when she entered—fourteen years old.

There were many children in the monastery, and nuns were there to look after them. Roland spent his days going back and forth between the mental hospital and the sanctuary, and no one wanted a patient like him—especially one as dangerous as him who could drive people mad with just a few words—to come into contact with children.

Therefore, Roland had never been to the places where these children usually stayed.

These children experience a far greater effect from divine grace than ordinary believers. Some angels with certain positions in heaven can even gather the faith power of believers to grow after awakening.

They often receive divine blessings repeatedly after reaching adulthood, and through continuous exposure to divine grace, they grow to the level of demigods or even ignite divine fire.

These two newcomers must be the angels who have just come of age in this generation.

Roland thought to himself, "The Dawn Order used to only have one territory, Vermeek. And places like Vermeek have too much contact with the magical community, so there are very few people with devout faith."

Furthermore, the gods of the Dawn Order are all very detached and indifferent. They don't care at all whether anyone believes in them. Therefore, the number of believers gathered by the Dawn Order each year is very small.

Of this limited power of faith, part is gathered into the well of faith of the Vatican, part is used to purify those evil relics, and the remainder is used to treat the mentally ill patients at the Holy Spirit Hospital.

Therefore, the knights and priests of the Dawn faction were essentially without parental love or support. Stronger angels or humans like Charlie, Florence, and even my Uncle Victor (Baron Hall) didn't receive any divine favor; they all achieved their strength through their own cultivation.

But the situation is different now; we have occupied half of the southern land.

The power of faith accumulated in all the churches will surely be thoroughly exploited by the Dawn Order. The faith of believers in all the dioceses will also be gathered on the Dawn Order's side.

The Dawn Order has become incredibly wealthy overnight. If everyone can maintain their current territory, we'll have many demigod-level, and even god-level, angels on our side.

Roland suddenly realized that the wizards were not without a perfect way to deal with the poisoned pie given to them by the gods.

If wizards abandon their own efforts and begin to rely on external forces like faith to improve themselves in this easier way, it will be very difficult for them to return.

To put it bluntly, once they choose to change their path, they will no longer be wizards, but priests.

But the angels of dawn are different.

Even the followers of the Dawn Order, a system of 'Buddhist-style faith,' are different.

They were originally priests, people who depended on faith for survival. And what they depended on was faith, not deities. Or rather, they were people who didn't believe in heaven, but in believers, in the conceptualized law of the 'light of dawn'!

Therefore, the gods' sweet talk is ineffective against them.

Moreover, the Dawn Order does not reject knowledge. They participated in almost every reform of the Church. If it weren't for the oppressive policies of the Kingdom of Heaven to keep the people ignorant, they would simply be white chess wizards who revered knowledge and believed that 'the foundation of civilization stems from the transmission of knowledge'!

If a wizard wants to accept the power of faith, he/she does not necessarily have to follow the path of the Church of Light and Shadow. He/she can follow the path of the Dawn Order, believe in the law of 'Dawn Light', and follow the doctrines of the Dawn Order.

This path also has its problems; it might cause wizards to gradually abandon magic and pursue easier ways to improve their abilities, thus slowly following the old path of the 'Church of Light and Shadow'.

But the White Wizards will surely come up with a solution. After all, they are descendants of the Dawn Order, and the White Queen still quietly embraces their faith.

The White Wizards have been trying to eradicate this system of belief-based politics for thousands of years.

These wizards, who revere knowledge and abhor ignorance, will surely come up with a reasonable solution to thwart the gods' sugar-coated bullets.

Roland believed that there must be a future where wizards and dawn priests could coexist.

For the entire magical civilization, their foundation has never been the top wizards, but rather the research findings that even the gods struggle to comprehend.

All the great research achievements came from the countless apprentices in the tower.

It comes from 'Grandpa Augustus', 'Teacher Merlin' and countless other magic researchers who have no magic power whatsoever.

In ancient times, there were many forbidden wizards who possessed no magical power whatsoever. Roland's father was one of them.

Each of them possesses a power that commands the awe of the gods, a power known as 'knowledge'.

Lost in thought, Helena had already led Roland to the entrance of the training ground and started chatting with the four female knights.

Compared to the two older female knights, these two were a little shy. But when they saw Roland's gaze, they boldly returned it with their own, and proudly puffed out their chests.

Although the two young ladies looked very young, they had an old-fashioned appearance on their faces.

Clearly, these two, like O'Reilly, look young, but in heaven they are probably tens of thousands of years old.

The four Dawn Angels were very curious about Roland. After seeing him, they not only stared at him intently, but also intentionally or unintentionally showed off their physical advantages.
Under their curious and intense scrutiny, Roland inwardly cried out that he couldn't take it anymore. So, after giving a slight nod to everyone in greeting, he awkwardly turned his head away, no longer looking at them.

Helena seemed to know these four people quite well, so she chatted with them for a while longer.

While Helena was talking to the female knights, Roland heard sounds of fighting coming from inside through the gauze curtain. It seemed there were many more people in the training ground.

Roland was initially too embarrassed to peek inside, since everyone seemed to be dressed quite lightly, and there might even be some shirtless people inside. They had deliberately drawn the curtains to cover themselves up.

But Roland heard Anna's voice amidst the shouts from inside the door, so he couldn't help but glance at the gauze curtain.

Upon looking, Roland vaguely saw that in the training ground, besides many young ladies of normal height, there were also several young ladies with unusually tall statures.

They were all attacking a tall female knight. Strangely, it seemed that the female knight had a pillow tied to her stomach.

Just as Roland was about to curiously pull back the curtain to take a peek, Helena yanked him hard.

Clearly, Roland's actions were extremely ungentlemanly. The ladies outside the door exchanged slightly different glances.

Seeing the junior student glaring at him fiercely, Roland chuckled. But instead of stopping, he tried to pull the curtain closed and go inside.

Just then, someone inside pulled back the gauze curtain and came out.

This young lady is very tall, almost as tall as Roland.

Despite her tall stature, this young lady has perfectly proportioned body and is almost too beautiful.

If she didn't lack long, pointed ears, Roland would have mistaken her for a high elf.

The other elf ladies who rushed into the training field paled in comparison to her. Her only slight flaw was that her features weren't quite gentle enough. She possessed a strikingly handsome and cool appearance, the kind that exuded a powerful and charismatic aura. But this also made her beauty unique, undoubtedly captivating countless beautiful ladies.

In contrast, men would probably keep their distance from her, because this lady seems to be a very strong-willed person, and most men simply cannot tame her.

This female knight was actually a demigod-level powerhouse, and she was dressed in the attire of a Dawn Knight. However, she was not an angel.

Just as Roland drew back the curtain, she drew back hers and came out. They almost bumped into each other.

Neither of them expected that someone was standing so close to someone inside or outside the door. In their moment of surprise, their faces were about to touch.

The young lady reacted with extraordinary speed; she leaned back and slid her feet, intending to retreat away from Roland.

Roland, perhaps out of kindness, reached out and put his arm around the person's waist so that they might fall.

This embrace had a very subtle effect; the knight failed to pull back and instead bumped into Roland's arms. The two were face to face and exchanged a kiss.

The female knight was completely bewildered by the kiss, and what made it even more unbelievable was that the scoundrel even gave her a peck.
The knight was so angry that her eyes went black. She suddenly exerted force with her leg and slammed her knee hard into Roland's lower abdomen.

Roland cried out in pain and collapsed to the ground like a curled-up shrimp.

"You fucking did it on purpose!"

The knight was still angry and reached out to grasp the hilt of the sword. But before she could draw it, she froze on the spot.

She bent down to examine the person on the ground who was crying in pain, and her expression became rather interesting.

"You stinking man, you deserve it!"

After angrily cursing, the knight lady looked at Roland's miserable state and couldn't help but smile slightly.

She kicked Roland with her boot and said, "Stop pretending, get up."

Seeing that Roland remained silent and continued to cry out in pain, the knight lady raised her eyebrows and was about to draw her sword.

Everything had happened so fast that Helena was only now coming to her senses. Startled, she quickly grabbed the knight's hand and began to try and calm her down.

Just then, Roland stood up with a chuckle and started patting his pants.

"Good brother, I saw you were about to fall, I was just trying to help you up. We're all men, it's just a cheek kiss, you're overreacting."

The knight snorted, wiped her mouth, spat twice to the side, and said, "Disgusting!"

The female knights around them watched the two bickering and were speechless.

An angel straightened the female knight's clothes and said, "They are also going to see His Highness, so why don't you take them with you?"

The angel ladies were very attentive to her, their eyes filled with tenderness. She seemed to be very popular among the ladies.

No wonder, this human female knight, who was as tall as Roland, acted very manly and spoke very wittily. With just a few words, she made the four angel ladies blush.

This human knight is very good at flirting with girls; he seems to be a lesbian.

But if you look closely at her eyes, you'll find that the smile in them is all fake. And when the angel's hand touched her arm, she not only subtly pulled away, but also a barely perceptible hint of disgust flashed in her eyes.

It seems she doesn't actually like women at all, but she pretends to dislike men.

No wonder, this is the territory of the goddess Heracles, so her heart began to pound the moment she stepped onto the banks of the Angel River.

Although she knew that the curse on her body was completely gone, she still played the role of 'a man's soul in a woman's body'.

Many people, including Helena, have always believed that this woman actually prefers women. This has led many women who have been flirted with by her to secretly regret that she was born into the wrong family.

This young lady is none other than 'Joan'. Back in the Land of Final Judgment, she even took the opportunity to secretly touch Roland's buttocks. But now she's pretending to be just a good brother to Roland.

However, she hadn't been pretending for just a year or two. Partly, she had gotten used to it, and partly, she had a bit of a wicked sense of humor.

Of course, these are not the most important reasons.
In any case, even Helena didn't know what was wrong with her. Sometimes, after being flirted with by Joan, she would blush and back away.

She thought Joan liked her, completely unaware that Joan only saw her as a sister and a shield.

Of all the people, only Catherine understood what was really going on with Joan—she knew that Joan was afraid that she would find out that she liked Roland and drive her away, separating the two good brothers who had risked their lives for each other.

Joan dealt with the angel ladies briefly, then left with Roland and the other woman.

On the way, Roland and Joan kept arguing and bickering, looking just like best buddies who shared a bunk bed in a dormitory.

Helena was caught in the middle of the two and was speechless.

It's unclear who started it, but as the two chatted, they both wanted Helena to link arms with them and stand on their side. They seemed to be secretly vying for her attention.

This caused Helena, the junior student, to be pulled back and forth. Eventually, she couldn't take it anymore, yelled, and stepped behind the two of them, distancing herself from them.

This seemed to ignite Joan and Roland even more. They squinted at each other, their expressions turning hostile.

Seeing this, Helena covered her face in her heart, thinking: 'No wonder my senior arranged it this way, their acting in front of Olivia will definitely be convincing!'
However, when they go to the Holy See later, I hope 'Aurelia' and 'Roland' won't actually fight because of me, 'Herakka'!

Helena had no idea what these two seemingly jealous guys were actually thinking.

When Joan communicated with Roland through her eyes, she called him her good brother and warned him not to let their relationship go astray, but her gaze was very intense.

During their eye contact, Roland repeatedly told her that she was a tomboy and not to overthink it. But whenever he looked into Joan's beautiful big eyes, his heart couldn't help but pound wildly.

Finally, Roland, unable to withstand Joan's intense gaze, avoided her eyes.

Joan also withdrew her gaze and stopped looking at Roland.

Joan secretly told herself that it was best for her and Roland to remain just brothers.

Roland secretly warned himself that he had a fiancée and couldn't afford to be unfaithful. Besides, and most importantly, he didn't know if he would return from his trip to the Holy See. Today might be the last time he saw Joan. (End of Chapter)
