Sherlock Holmes at Hogwarts.
Chapter 526 I Have Something Important to Tell You
Chapter 526 I Have Something Important to Tell You
When Percy, Gemma, Penelope, and their classmates graduated and left Hogwarts in the 1993-1994 school year, Harry secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Admittedly, the relationship between Sherlock and Gemma has always given the impression of a platonic friendship.
Although Sherlock and Hermione spent more time together and knew each other earlier.
However, given Harry's simple view of relationships, Gemma actually has more advantages than Hermione.
First of all, Gemma is no less intelligent or perceptive than Hermione.
Secondly, Gemma is one of the few women who can make Sherlock care about his opinion.
Secondly, Gemma is much prettier than Hermione.
Of course, this is Harry's personal opinion.
Sherlock never cared about his appearance.
While it might be unfair to Hermione to say this, that's how Harry truly felt:
If Gemma had stayed here, Hermione wouldn't have had a chance.
Fortunately, Gemma left.
Once Gemma leaves, Hermione and Sherlock getting together would be a natural progression.
After all, Hermione's intelligence is equally astonishing and matches Sherlock's rational temperament very well.
Therefore, Harry believed that, as time went on, Sherlock and Hermione's relationship would inevitably blossom naturally.
But now, Gemma is back.
Although Charlie said she came for work.
Despite the rules restricting her and Sherlock from meeting and communicating before the match.
But her sudden appearance here is itself a huge variable.
Even if she only stays for a short year.
Even just this short period of time for the first project.
Harry also believed that she was bound to affect the budding romance between Sherlock and Hermione.
That said, if Sherlock could actually date Gemma, it wouldn't be a bad thing.
But the problem is...
Harry turned his head to look at Sherlock beside him.
Under the moonlight, that angular, half-lit, half-shadowed face showed no superfluous expression.
It was as if the incident of meeting Gemma had no impact on him whatsoever.
This made Harry feel a sense of powerlessness.
This guy……
But it’s right to think about it carefully.
After all, Sherlock has stated more than once that he is not interested in emotional noise such as "love" and "romantic relationships".
I have analyzed myself coldly and rationally more than once, and concluded that it is a byproduct of biological evolution, an unnecessary factor that distracts my attention.
When I was younger, I didn't feel it very clearly.
But over the past two years, as he himself developed budding feelings for those beautiful young girls, Harry gradually realized just how serious the matter was!
Sherlock's world is now filled with knowledge, magic, logic, and imminent danger.
There's simply no room left for emotions.
Whether it's Hermione's usual gentle care or Gemma's current strong comeback.
Before Sherlock's high wall of reason, everything seems somewhat pale.
"Sherlock."
Thinking of this, Harry couldn't help but speak again.
His voice carried a conflicting emotion that even he himself couldn't fully comprehend:
“Gemma just said that she can’t meet or communicate with you until the project is finished, you…”
He actually wanted to ask Sherlock if he felt regret or anticipation, or if he would prefer Gemma to be there.
But he didn't dare to be so direct.
At the same time, Hermione's face reappeared in his mind.
"You know, Hermione also..."
After thinking about it, he swallowed the rest of his sentence.
He also knew that Sherlock didn't care about what he was trying to imply.
"That's the rule."
Sherlock's voice remained flat, "Prioritizing the Triwizard Tournament and the first event is a perfectly normal choice."
His gaze was firm, and his steps were without the slightest hesitation.
It was as if the challenge they were about to face was the only thing worth discussing at that moment.
Looking at his friend's calm and focused profile, Harry could almost feel the rationality and restraint emanating from him.
Thinking of this, he ultimately swallowed back all the thoughts about Hermione and Gemma that were about to come to his lips.
He understood.
Now is definitely not the time to talk about private matters.
At this moment, no matter whose feelings it was, they all seemed insignificant, even distracting, in Sherlock's eyes.
He took a deep breath of the cold air, cleared his mind of the turmoil, quickened his pace, and caught up with Sherlock.
Harry even found it somewhat amusing at this point.
He was so preoccupied with worrying about Sherlock that he completely forgot about the important matter at hand.
Dragon!
That's what they're about to face.
Ironically, seeing them before the official competition left Harry unsure whether he was truly happy or not.
Overall, though, it's still better to know that the first project is a dragon.
After all, the initial fear has now passed.
If he doesn't see the dragon until Tuesday, it's no exaggeration to say he might faint in front of the whole school...
Not to mention that the organizers only allowed them to bring wands as their only weapon—which now looks almost like a thin little stick.
Even if they were to carry swords and shields into battle, it wouldn't make any difference.
Even though Sherlock is a master swordsman and knows the Barton technique, don't forget that they are dealing with a fifty-foot-tall dragon covered in scales and spikes, breathing fire from its nostrils!
That's not a serpent monster; it will die after hearing a rooster crow.
Harry couldn't help but feel that the organizers were playing a joke on them!
While he was pondering this, Sherlock suddenly stopped.
Harry was still lost in his own chaotic thoughts when he nearly bumped into his friend who had suddenly stopped.
Before he could even ask a question, Sherlock's hand had already gripped his upper arm.
"Don't make a sound!"
Sherlock's voice was very low, but the warning in it immediately snapped Harry out of his reverie.
Harry immediately fell silent, his muscles tensing.
Sherlock nimbly pulled him aside, their movements fluid and swift as they disappeared behind a thicket of low, dense juniper bushes by the roadside.
The unexpected turn of events made Harry's heart pound.
He crouched on the cold, muddy ground like Shylock, holding his breath and peering nervously down the path through the gaps in the thorny branches.
Sherlock, taking the initiative, had a sharp eye and fixed his gaze on a spot a dozen feet away from where they had just been.
A tall and imposing figure stood in the shade of a sparse grove of trees.
The man had clearly just come out of the depths of the forbidden forest, or perhaps he was simply following and observing along a side path parallel to the main road.
Sherlock recognized the other person at a glance.
Karkaroff, the principal of Durmstrang.
Harry was a bit slower to react than Sherlock, and it wasn't until he saw the goatee that he realized who the other person was.
Karkarov peeked out slightly, gazing nervously towards the Dragon Enclosure. His goatee stood out starkly in the moonlight.
He fidgeted with his fingers anxiously from time to time, as if he were extremely uneasy about what he was seeing, or as if he was confirming something.
He was spying too!
Harry understood instantly.
Karkaroff slid off his large ship to find out what the first project was.
He probably even saw Hagrid and Madam Maxim walking together around the Forbidden Forest that way.
After all, their target was too obvious; they could be seen from a great distance.
Now, Karkaroff only needs to go to the source of the sound, and like Madam Maxim, he will know what awaits the warrior.
Harry felt a chill run down his spine.
Although his conversation with Sherlock on the road was not loud, if the other party had gotten closer and been more alert...
Cold sweat instantly soaked his back.
Sherlock held onto Harry's arm tightly.
The two men remained pressed against the icy bushes like two stone statues, without making a sound.
Time seemed to stand still at that moment.
Karkaroff didn't notice the two hidden figures in the dark corner; his entire attention was focused on Hagrid and Madam Maxim.
After what felt like an eternity—a minute or two—Kakalov finally looked away.
He quickly and warily glanced left and right, then quickened his pace and, under the cover of the trees, began to move sideways toward where the dragon was.
Sherlock's tense body relaxed slightly only after Karkaroff had completely disappeared and after waiting a full half minute to make sure there was no more movement around him, and he loosened his grip on Harry's arm.
Harry let out a long sigh of relief, his heart still pounding uncontrollably.
He looked at Sherlock, who was still staring intently in the direction Karkaroff had disappeared.
"Kakarov..."
Harry's voice was hoarse and low, "He's helping Krum gather information..."
Sherlock slowly stood up, brushed off a few withered leaves and small thorns from his cloak, and resumed his usual composure, but the vigilance deep in his eyes had not completely disappeared.
"It is obvious that, despite not having someone like Hagrid to help him, the headmaster still found the right direction through his own efforts."
Sherlock's tone was tinged with sarcasm: "Well, that's great. Before the competition even officially begins, all the participants know what they're going to face. What a strict secrecy measure!"
Harry coughed twice, somewhat awkwardly.
After all, Hagrid was the one who started this whole thing.
He thought for a moment and said, "That's good too, at least everyone is back on the same starting line."
Sherlock chuckled. "That makes sense. Otherwise, if we win, it would be a rather dishonest victory!"
After saying that, he stopped smiling and said, "Let's go. Now we need to figure out how to deal with that damned dragon."
Harry looked at his friend's calm and focused profile and took a deep breath.
A chilly feeling, thick with the scent of earth and night dew, washes over you.
He forced down his previous emotional turmoil and lingering fear, quickened his pace, and caught up with Sherlock.
Sunday morning.
When Sherlock woke up, he was surprised to find that Harry was already awake.
"Are you going for your morning exercise?"
Harry asked the question instinctively, and then started getting dressed.
Sherlock glanced at his friend and suddenly said, "Do I need to remind you?"
"what?"
Harry looked at Sherlock, puzzled.
Sherlock pointed.
Harry was surprised to find that he was actually putting his hat on his feet like a sock.
"Uh……"
An awkward feeling began to spread in the small dormitory.
Fortunately, Neville regained his senses at this moment, which eased the awkward situation.
During a break from their morning exercise, Harry thought it over and decided that he should try to help his good friend Hermione.
“Sherlock, can we tell other people about what happened last night—I mean Ron and Hermione?”
“Of course,” Sherlock said, seemingly surprised, and even told a lame joke:
"Now that Dumbledore isn't stopping us, there's nothing we can't say."
Harry wanted to ask one more question, but then thought better of it and decided to stop while he was ahead.
When they finished their morning exercise and went to the Great Hall for breakfast, they saw Hermione with Ginny at the Gryffindor table.
Harry sat down, thinking about how to tell Hermione about it.
After all, Sherlock has already said that this matter can be discussed.
He didn't ask any more questions just now because he was afraid that Sherlock would say again, "Don't talk about Gemma yet."
Although the probability is low, it's still best to be on the safe side.
However, to his surprise, just as he swallowed the last spoonful of porridge, Hermione said she had something to tell him and then pulled him to the field outside.
Ron, who was standing nearby, was so surprised by what he saw that his eyes almost popped out of their sockets.
what's the situation?
Isn't this right?
He instinctively looked towards Sherlock.
Sherlock, however, seemed oblivious to the scene, and calmly and composedly left after finishing his meal.
Judging from the direction he left, it should be the library.
Ron had been planning to ask Sherlock and Harry what they had been doing visiting Hagrid yesterday, but this is what happened?
He had no other choice but to place his hopes on his younger sister:
"Ginny, what were you saying to Hermione just now?"
"Guys shouldn't ask about things that girls discuss!"
Ginny raised her head and left like a proud swan.
Only Ron remained, speechless and choked with emotion.
"What are they all doing?"
Although Harry didn't know what Hermione wanted to tell him, her actions were like a godsend for a sleepy man.
So he let Hermione lead him to the lake, then cleared his throat:
Hermione, I have something important to tell you.
"Harry, I have something important to tell you."
"..."
"..."
The two looked at each other, then burst out laughing at the same time.
The tense atmosphere eased somewhat.
"You go ahead and say it."
Harry decided to let Hermione speak first, since he was also curious as to why Hermione had rushed him out in such a hurry.
"You must be here to tell me about going with Sherlock to see Hagrid last night, right?"
Hermione cleverly replied, "I really do want to know, but please wait until I finish!"
Harry nodded, but thought to himself, "It's not just about seeing Hagrid."
You'll be absolutely stunned when the time comes.
The thought had barely formed in his mind when Hears Hermione say:
"Harry, have you ever thought about dating Ginny?"
Harry was immediately stunned.
