Lynn was also awestruck by the beauty of the water. Although he had dived before, the biodiversity and clarity of the waters around Hawaii truly exceeded his expectations. Sunlight filtered through the seawater, casting dappled shadows on the coral reefs, making the entire underwater world look like a fairytale wonderland.

Lena led them slowly through the coral reefs, stopping occasionally to point out unusual marine life. A sea turtle swam leisurely past them, and Emily was so excited she almost forgot her breathing rules.

“Look over there,” Lina gestured to the distance, where a group of colorful parrotfish were nibbling on coral.

They swam in the ocean for about forty minutes and saw countless beautiful creatures: tentacles swaying in anemones, small octopuses in rock crevices, schools of tropical fish, and all sorts of strangely shaped corals.

Just as they were about to surface, Lynn suddenly noticed a strange figure in the distance. The figure was moving unusually fast, far exceeding the normal swimming speed of a human, and its movements were very unnatural, as if it were "flying" in the water.

Lynn immediately became alert. As a seasoned FBI agent, his professional instincts told him this was likely no ordinary swimmer. The figure's speed and movement were clearly beyond the capabilities of a normal human.

He gestured for Lina and Emily to stop, then pointed in the direction of the figure. But when they looked there, the figure had vanished.

Lina thought Lynn had seen some large sea creature and gestured to ask if it was a shark. Lynn shook his head, indicating he wasn't sure.

Emily also noticed Lynn's unusual reaction. She swam over to Lynn and looked at him with concern.

Lynn decided not to linger underwater and signaled to begin surfacing. As he ascended, he frequently looked back to observe the surrounding waters, but the mysterious figure never reappeared.

Back on the surface, Lina excitedly asked them how they felt.

“It’s amazing!” Emily exclaimed excitedly. “It’s even more beautiful than I imagined! The corals and tropical fish are like living works of art!”

“It is indeed beautiful,” Lynn replied, but his attention was still on the mysterious figure he had just seen.

"Did you see anything unusual just now?" Lina asked. "I noticed you stopped at the end."

“I thought I saw something, but it might have been an illusion,” Lynn replied vaguely.

Back on the ship, Emily was still immersed in the wonderful experience, constantly discussing the various marine creatures she had seen with Lena. But Lynn seemed somewhat distracted, constantly observing the surrounding sea.

“Lynn, what’s wrong?” Emily noticed his unusual behavior. “You look worried.”

"It's nothing, maybe I'm overthinking it," Lynn said, not wanting to spoil Emily's good mood.

But on the way back, Lynn saw that figure again. This time he was closer, and he could clearly see that it was a human-shaped figure, but it was moving incredibly fast, and its movements in the water were like flying.

Emily saw it too this time.

“My God, what is that?” she asked, pointing to the figure beneath the surface of the sea.

Lena saw it too, but she thought it was a dolphin or some other marine animal. "It's probably a dolphin," she said. "Dolphins often come here."

But Lynn knew it was definitely not a dolphin. The shape of the figure was clearly human, and its movement was completely unlike that of any known marine creature.

Once back on shore, Lynn immediately found the hotel's security manager and requested to see all the activity records in the sea that morning.

"Is there a problem?" the security supervisor asked.

“We saw something unusual while diving,” Lynn said, showing his FBI badge, “and needed to confirm the safety of the area.”

The safety supervisor immediately became serious and pulled up the records of all sea activities that morning, including diving, snorkeling, sailing, and so on.

"In addition to your diving activities, three groups of guests went snorkeling this morning, and two sailboats went out to sea," the safety supervisor reported. "All activities are within normal limits."

"Has anyone entered the waters without authorization?" Lynn asked.

“This is difficult to monitor,” the security manager admitted. “The sea area is vast, and we mainly monitor the activities of hotel guests.”

Lynn asked to see the beach security camera footage. In the footage, he saw a young man, who looked to be in his early twenties, with a strong build, appear on the beach around the time they were diving, but whose behavior was somewhat strange.

The man lingered on the beach for a while before walking towards the water. Strangely, once he entered the water, he disappeared from the surveillance footage, as if he had vanished into the water.

"Is this person a hotel guest?" Lynn asked, pointing to the man in the video.

The security supervisor checked the guest registration record, shook his head, and said, "He's not our guest, and I've never seen this person before."

Lynn asked to make a copy of the video and then began searching for the mysterious man around the hotel. He told Emily to rest in the room while he investigated alone.

In the hotel parking lot, Lynn found some wet footprints, clearly left by someone who had just come out of the water. He followed the footprints all the way to a coconut grove behind the hotel.

Deep in the coconut grove, Lynn finally found the mysterious man. He was a young man who looked to be around twenty-five years old, with healthy bronze skin and a muscular physique. He was sitting under a coconut tree, his clothes still wet, but he didn't seem cold at all.

What's even stranger is that although the man's hair was wet, it wasn't dripping water, as if the moisture had been absorbed by his body.

“You’re the one who was in the sea just now,” Lynn said, walking directly toward him.

The young man looked up, a slightly embarrassed smile on his face. "Ah, I've been found out."

“You’re a mutant,” Lynn said definitively, “with the ability to move at high speeds underwater.”

The man nodded. "Yes, my name is Jack Aquinas, and I am indeed a mutant. I can move at high speeds in water, just like a fish."

“Then why did you show up while we were diving?” Lynn demanded. “Did you know that would scare the other people?”

Jack seemed embarrassed. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I was just curious. Very few people come to this area to dive, and I wanted to see what you were doing up close."

"Close-up observation?" Lynn frowned. "Your actions constitute an invasion of privacy and could pose a safety hazard. If we panic because we see you, it could be dangerous underwater."

“I’m so sorry,” Jack said sincerely. “I didn’t expect it to cause such a problem. I usually swim alone in the sea and rarely meet other people.” “Do you live here?” Lynn asked.

“Yes, I’m a local,” Jack replied. “I grew up in these waters. My abilities are natural; I can breathe underwater and swim at high speeds.”

Lynn's expression softened slightly. He realized that the young man meant no harm; he had simply done something inappropriate out of curiosity.

“Jack, I understand your curiosity,” Lynn said, “but you need to understand that while your abilities are special, you also need to consider the impact on others. Appearing suddenly while others are engaged in water activities could cause panic.”

“You’re right,” Jack said, humbly accepting the criticism. “I’ll be more careful next time.”

“Furthermore,” Lynn continued, “if you’re interested in diving or other water activities, you can participate through legitimate channels, not by secretly observing.”

Jack's eyes lit up. "You mean I can participate in the hotel's activities?"

“Of course,” Lynn said, “you can act as a guide or assistant, using your abilities to help others better understand the ocean. This way, you can satisfy your interests while also helping others.”

“That’s a fantastic idea!” Jack exclaimed excitedly. “I know this area very well; I know where the most beautiful corals are and where sea turtles often appear.”

Lynn handed Jack her business card. "If you're interested, you can contact the hotel's activities center. Tell them I recommended you. But remember, don't follow tourists on your own again."

“I promise I won’t,” Jack said earnestly. “Thank you for giving me this opportunity.”

After resolving this minor incident, Lynn returned to the hotel. Emily was waiting for him on the balcony of his room, clearly worried about his sudden departure.

"Where have you been?" she asked with concern. "Did something happen?"

Lynn told Emily about what had just happened. After listening, Emily laughed.

"So the mysterious figure we saw today was actually a curious mutant?" she said. "It sounds like a movie plot."

“Yes, he meant no harm, he was just too curious,” Lynn said. “But it also reminds us to stay vigilant, even on vacation.”

“You handled it very well,” Emily praised. “You solved the problem while giving him a legitimate opportunity to participate. That’s what I admire about you—you always find the most humane solutions.”

Lynn was touched by her praise. "Thank you for your understanding. So, aside from that little incident, how was your diving experience today?"

“Absolutely unforgettable!” Emily exclaimed excitedly. “The underwater world is so beautiful, even more spectacular than I imagined. And with you by my side, I feel incredibly safe.”

“I really enjoyed exploring the underwater world with you,” Lynn said sincerely. “Seeing you so excited and happy made me very happy too.”

“Let’s go diving again tomorrow,” Emily suggested. “Maybe we can explore different areas.”

“Good idea,” Lynn agreed, “and maybe Jack has become the hotel’s guide; he can take us to even more special places.”

In the afternoon, they rested on the beach, and Emily kept excitedly reminiscing about her diving experience that morning. She described every kind of fish and every piece of coral she saw, her eyes sparkling with joy.

“You know what,” she said, “when I’m underwater, I feel like I’ve entered another world. The tranquility and beauty make me forget all my worries and fears.”

“Diving does indeed have this therapeutic effect,” Lynn said. “Underwater, time seems to stand still, and you are in harmony with nature.”

As the sun set, they sat on the beach watching the sunset. Golden sunlight spilled across the sea, and the distant mountains looked exceptionally beautiful in the twilight.

“Today is a perfect day,” Emily said contentedly. “Even that little incident didn’t spoil my wonderful mood.”

“Yes,” Lynn said, looking at her beautiful profile in the sunset, “it truly is a perfect day.”

“It says here that the sunrise at Haleakala is one of the most spectacular in the world,” Emily said, reading from the guidebook. “We definitely have to see it.”

“Sounds good,” Lynn said, “but you need to get up very early to see the sunrise.”

“It’s okay, it’s worth getting up early to see such a beautiful view,” Emily insisted.

At the airport, the check-in process went smoothly. Their seats were arranged together, which pleased Emily. While waiting in the departure lounge, Lynn noticed that Emily seemed a little nervous.

"What's wrong?" he asked with concern.

“I was just thinking, this is the first time we’ve done something like this together,” Emily said. “I mean, we’ve always been in dangerous and tense situations together before. I wonder what it will be like to go on vacation together now.”

“It will be fine,” Lynn reassured her. “We’ll relax, enjoy the sun and the beach, and forget all our worries and stress.”

“I hope so,” Emily smiled, “and I want to get to know you better, to know Lynn Hall outside of work.”

These words made Lynn's heart race. He realized that this trip was not just about relaxation, but also an opportunity for them to get to know each other better.

The plane took off on time. During the flight, Emily seemed very excited. She would often look out the window to observe the scenery. When the plane flew over the continent, she marveled at the beauty of the clouds; when it flew over the Pacific Ocean, she was awestruck by the vastness of the ocean.

"Did you fly often before?" Lynn asked.

“Not much,” Emily replied. “It’s mainly for an academic conference. This is my first time flying for vacation.”

“Then you’ll definitely love Hawaii,” Lynn said. “It’s more beautiful than you can imagine.”

"Have you ever been to Hawaii?" Emily asked curiously.

“I went there once many years ago on a mission,” Lynn replied, “but I didn’t have time to appreciate the scenery that time. This time should be completely different.”

After a six-hour flight, the plane arrived in Honolulu, and they then transferred to a smaller plane to Maui. As the plane approached Maui, Emily was so excited she almost jumped out of her seat. (End of Chapter)
