“Alan,” Scott’s voice was deep and magnetic, every word seemingly laced with threat, “you shouldn’t underestimate me.”

Alan stopped what he was doing, looked up at Scott, a hint of coldness in his eyes, but he didn't speak. He had long realized that he no longer had the power to choose. Scott not only knew Alan's past, but had also laid traps in every step of Alan's path, making every breath he took and every decision he made impossible to escape his control.

“Lynn must die.” Scott’s tone was even calmer, but every word was like a cold blade, cutting into Alan’s heart. “I gave you a chance, and I gave you the power. I’m very satisfied with your extraordinary performance tonight, but if you want to live, you have to listen to me.”

A surge of anger and helplessness welled up within Alan, his fists clenching involuntarily. The emotion was almost uncontrollable, but he knew he had few options. The potion Scott provided had made him powerful, but it had also trapped him, leaving him unable to escape.

"You want me to kill Lynn?" Alan's voice was low and hoarse. "Do you know who she is? She's a senior FBI agent." He couldn't help but worry—he knew all too well what it meant to be at odds with the FBI. The FBI wasn't just a simple organization; they possessed endless resources, technology, and intelligence. Offending them was tantamount to handing your life over to them.

Scott smiled slightly, a cold glint in his eyes. "Do you think she can protect you? She's just a stepping stone for you. She has no real connection to you. Do you think she'd risk her life for you?"

Alan didn't immediately refute her; his heart was in turmoil. Lynn was far more than just a mission target to him. Although he had once doubted her motives, she had appeared in his loneliest moment and offered him some help. Unlike Scott, she didn't directly use threats to control him; instead, she seemed like a woman with emotions and warmth. Moreover, she was an FBI agent, backed by the entire government; Alan couldn't underestimate her status.

But Alan now knew he had to make a choice. His fate was already firmly in the hands of Scott's drugs and threats; if he wanted to live, if he wanted to maintain this power, he had to obey the orders of the man before him. At the same time, Lynn represented a risk he couldn't afford—her presence might plunge him into an even deeper quagmire.

“You want me to go against the FBI? Do you know what that means?” Alan’s voice trembled slightly, as if he were speaking out his deepest fears. “I don’t have much of a relationship with Lynn, but the FBI… they can make you disappear easily.”

Scott's smile remained unchanged, his tone still unhurried: "Alan, you still don't understand. Lynn and the FBI aren't what you imagine. If you can do what I ask, I guarantee I can create greater opportunities for you, even give you more power. The FBI, on the other hand, is just a passing cloud. Your real enemies in this world aren't them, but those forces that want to control you."

Alan lowered his head, his fists clenched, as if trying to unleash his inner rage. The feeling of being pushed to the brink made him almost explode, as if he might make a choice at any moment. However, with each word Scott spoke, he began to realize that his situation was not as simple as it seemed.

Lynn's identity filled him with deep apprehension. The FBI's power lay not only in their resources but also in their ubiquitous intelligence network and formidable political connections. Offending her would not only mean losing his protector but also inviting endless trouble. Even with his current strength, he might still be powerless against an organization like the FBI.

Scott seemed to see through his hesitation, a cold smile appearing on his face. "Do you think you can stand up to the FBI? You're just an ordinary person who's recently gained power. Do you think you can fight against the entire government, the entire nation?"

Alan took a deep breath and finally spoke: "I understand. I know my situation is very bad right now. You gave me power and choices, but that doesn't mean I have no bottom line. I dare not go against the FBI, and I am even less willing to kill an innocent person for no reason. I can consider letting you deal with Lynn, but you must give me a guarantee that my life will no longer be threatened."

Scott looked at him, seemingly surprised. Alan's reaction wasn't entirely unexpected, but he hadn't expected Alan to maintain a degree of composure under such immense pressure.

“You want to guarantee something?” Scott raised an eyebrow, his tone gradually turning cold. “What do you want to guarantee? Your life? You’re too naive, Alan. In this world, only the strong survive. Do you think the FBI will tolerate your repeated disobedience? Let me tell you, choosing to be my enemy or the FBI is the same—both lead to death. The only difference is that you can live longer and become stronger.”

"So you want me to kill Lynn to ensure your plan goes smoothly?" Alan's eyes hardened. "I can do it, but you must guarantee that if I do it, the FBI won't pursue any further action against me."

Scott looked at Alan, a slight smile playing on his lips. “I assure you. If you want to live, I can help you. If you do well, I can even make you stronger than you are now. But if you dare to betray me, it won’t just be Lynn’s problem.” He paused, looking coldly at Alan. “Think carefully, this isn’t a choice you can easily change.”

A tense atmosphere hung in the air. Alan knew there was no turning back now. His future was completely in Scott's hands. He had no choice but to accept this disgusting offer, to face someone he didn't want to face, and to make a decision he didn't want to make.

“I understand,” Alan finally said through gritted teeth, his voice so deep it was almost inaudible. “I will do it.”

Scott nodded slightly, a hint of satisfaction flashing in his eyes. "Very good, Alan. Remember, only the strong can control their own destiny, and only I can make you truly strong." He stood up, his gaze cold. "Tonight, you will complete your mission. If you do well, it might even change your life."

A few hours later.

As night fell, the streetlights came on, casting long, curved shadows of the trees lining the streets. Lynn drove his car home along the familiar streets, the window slightly open, letting in a cool, refreshing night breeze. The air was a bit chilly tonight, damp and humid, as if foreshadowing a rain.

Suddenly, a strong sense of unease swept over Lynn. He jerked the steering wheel, a glint of alertness in his eyes. But it was too late—a figure had appeared in the middle of the road ahead of him.

Alan stood there, his legs slightly bent and his body slightly hunched, looking like a beast poised to pounce. He stood neither too far nor too close, his gaze sharp as a hawk's, fixed on Lynn as he charged towards him. At this moment, Alan made no attempt to conceal his intentions; instead, he appeared unusually calm and ruthless, as if he had already made up his mind.

Lynn's eyes widened, his heart pounded, and he slammed on the brakes, jerking the steering wheel to avoid the man who had suddenly appeared on the road. But Alan had anticipated his movements; his steps were light as the wind, and he suddenly stepped forward, using his strong body to block Lynn's car without hesitation. In an instant, Lynn's car crashed into Alan's chest with almost no reduction in speed. The sound of metal colliding with muscle was deafening, and the front of the car jerked violently, almost flipping it over. The airbags deployed instantly, and Lynn was thrown against the steering wheel by the force of the impact. His head slammed violently against the windshield, and blood streamed down his forehead.

But Alan didn't fall, as if he hadn't been affected at all. He stood there, his legs firmly planted on the ground, staring expressionlessly at Lynn inside the car, like a heartless monster. His hands were pressed against the hood of the car, as if issuing a final warning to Lynn.

Lynn's heart pounded. He painfully lifted his head from the steering wheel, his consciousness gradually returning. He gripped the steering wheel tightly, a resolute glint in his eyes. There was no fear in his heart, only an instinctive reaction—to run.

"What...what are you doing?" Lynn's voice was hoarse and low, tinged with blood, his eyes filled with confusion and anger. "Do you want to kill me?"

Alan didn't respond, staring blankly at Lynn inside the car. He glanced down at the hood; the car, which he had been blocking, was completely deformed, the front bumper badly dented, and the wheels groaning as they couldn't turn. Clearly, Lynn was no longer capable of moving the car.

He knew his mission was to eliminate Lynn here and allow Scott's plan to proceed. Lynn was not just a target, but a threat. Alan didn't hesitate; in his eyes, the mission was more important than personal feelings.

However, Lynn's reaction surprised Alan—this man did not panic as he had expected. On the contrary, his eyes shone with determination and calmness, and the anger in his eyes no longer seemed to be fear of death, but rather resistance to this sudden attack.

Lynn pushed his chest away from the airbag and managed to sit up. He was still a little dizzy, but with his strong willpower, he quickly regained consciousness. His hands were already gripping the steering wheel, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes, as if he was not going to sit and wait for death.

Just as Alan was about to apply pressure again, Lynn suddenly pulled open the car door and jumped out without hesitation, leaving a loud thud behind him. Alan watched him jump out and, without the slightest hesitation, leaped towards Lynn, his speed almost freezing the air.

However, Lynn didn't dodge like an ordinary person; instead, he went straight for Alan. Although he had just been hit by a car and was still recovering, his reaction was exceptionally swift. The instant Alan lunged at him, Lynn instantly rolled to the side, avoiding Alan's attack, and quickly regained his footing.

The two figures clashed swiftly, like two ferocious beasts colliding under the moonlight. Lynn's movements remained agile; despite the impact, he did not slow down in the slightest. His footsteps were like a ghost, his figure appearing and disappearing intermittently.

Alan's eyes grew even colder. He leaped up again, his target clear, and his fists slammed down on Lynn like heavy hammers. Lynn's reaction was still swift. He quickly ducked his head and dodged the punch, but he didn't escape completely; the force of the blow almost hurt his ears.

The two engaged in a fierce fight on the empty street. Alan closed in on Lynn with astonishing strength and speed, while Lynn skillfully dodged Alan's every attack with agile footwork. Each time they closed in, Alan's fists seemed to tear through the air, but Lynn, with his keen intuition and superb skills, always managed to react precisely at the last moment.

The fierce battle lasted for ten minutes. Although Lynn's body was beginning to feel exhausted, he did not back down. He knew that if he gave up now, he would lose his life. A resolute look flashed in his eyes, as if he had vowed to escape alive from Alan's clutches.

“You are indeed not simple.” Alan suddenly stopped, his breathing becoming heavy. He was no longer in a hurry to attack, but stared intently at Lynn, his eyes filled with intense hostility.

"You and I have no deep-seated hatred, so why do you have to make things difficult for me?" Lynn wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and said breathlessly.

“You don’t understand,” Alan replied coldly, a glint of coldness in his eyes. “This is a mission; you cannot escape it.”

Lynn took a deep breath and quickly assessed his surroundings. Although he was struggling, he knew from his accumulated combat experience that if he continued to fight Alan head-on, he would likely be completely defeated.

"You don't want to continue fighting me, or do you want to escape first?" Alan narrowed his eyes, sensing that Lynn's aura seemed to have changed.

Lynn didn't answer, but instead took the opportunity to turn around and run towards the other end of the street. Alan followed closely behind, giving chase without hesitation; the air around them seemed to be cut apart by their speed.

Although Alan's strength and speed exceeded the limits of ordinary people, Lynn, with his familiarity with the environment and his agility, changed direction from time to time, making it difficult for Alan to catch up.

Just then, a light flashed before Lynn's eyes. He saw a parking lot ahead with a car parked inside, its door ajar. He quickly assessed the situation and dashed towards the parking lot, intending to use the surrounding obstacles to evade Alan's pursuit.

Alan was clearly taken aback by Lynn's decision; he paused for a moment, then sped up to catch up. (End of Chapter)
