Chapter 1074 Intertwined Plots
After Lin Wuming's reminder, Wuhe looked down at her attire and finally shook her head: "Let's keep the style consistent. Both of us are wearing summer clothes, which will at least reduce the chances of witnesses becoming suspicious. As for keeping warm... I'm really ashamed to say I'll have to ask Senior Wuming for help again!"

Wuhe had thought it through clearly. All her winter clothes were in the car, and as for the jacket she was wearing, it wouldn't make much difference even if she wore it; so she might as well just stick to her style.

Moreover, wearing such light clothing in the freezing cold without feeling cold is actually quite a nice experience.

Lin Wuming didn't try to persuade her further. He just felt that it was a little inconvenient for the girl to take things. As for keeping warm, he didn't expect much from this thin garment. He was confident that he could protect the girl.

After a morning of searching, the two found nothing; later, Wuhe calmed down and was no longer so tense and anxious.

Around noon, Wuhe even suggested that they go to the nearby town to find a place to have lunch and take a rest.

Lin Wuming naturally agreed. He had been kicked out by Chairman Aleister and would have to wait until the Great Star Festival ended before he could return, so he had plenty of time and didn't mind investigating slowly.

Or, as mentioned before, Lin Wuming is here for a "vacation and tourism".

“Although we did our homework during the investigation, it was still…” Wuhe explained as they sat down in an American fast food restaurant, “After all, we have important things to do now, so it’s better to be conservative with our food.”

Compared to local delicacies whose origins are completely unknown, standard American fast food restaurants that have branches all over the world are more reassuring.

On the other hand, this perceptive girl had already figured out that Lin Wuming was there for "tourism"; so she couldn't help but feel that coming to eat American fast food might be a bit of a downer.

Lin Wuming didn't care what he ate—it certainly wouldn't taste as good as what he made at home anyway.

Lin Wuming's attention was drawn to the television programs in the store rather than the food on the menu.

The television was broadcasting the midday news, but it seemed to be a local channel, and the language used was not English, so Lin Wuming couldn't understand it.

“This is Danish, I know a little bit.” Wuhe noticed Lin Wuming’s gaze, looked over as well, and thoughtfully offered to translate.

Knowing Danish was one of the reasons why Wuhe was chosen to come to Greenland.

"Huh? This news..." After translating only a couple of sentences, Wuhe was immediately drawn to the content of the news.

Protests against Academy City erupted almost simultaneously around the world, including in several major cities in Greenland, and the news was reporting on the events.

“Senior Wuming,” Wuhe leaned forward, getting close to Lin Wuming and asking in a low voice, “was it because of your duel with Misaka Mikoto last night?”

"It shouldn't be that bad, right?" Lin Wuming frowned. "When we came out, things weren't this serious yet."

Lin Wuming was unwilling to admit that he was the cause of the global unrest; however, rational analysis forced him to admit that this was probably the truth of the matter!
—Looking at it this way, I guess I really deserved to be punished.

Lin Wuming thought to himself, "This is what I'm complaining about."

“It seems we need to be more cautious in our next move,” Itsuki said, turning back to the television news report. “It’s said that violence has broken out—the protesters have lost their temper and started attacking ordinary Japanese tourists…”

"This atmosphere... is clearly not right!" Lin Wuming frowned.

“Yes, it feels a bit too frenzied.” Wuhe nodded in agreement. “There must be someone pulling the strings behind the scenes.”

Lin Wuming nodded, his brows furrowing even more. The scene unfolding on the television screen gave him a strong sense of déjà vu. It was in the original storyline—Lin Wuming immediately realized, but… in the "Queen's Fleet" storyline, there didn't seem to be any large-scale demonstrations.

While pondering his doubts, Lin Wuming did not choose to remain alone to ponder them. Instead, he sent an email directly to the chairman of Aleister Group.

If there are readily available resources, there's no harm in not using them.

Because they were preoccupied with their own thoughts, the two quickly finished their lunch and immediately returned to their car, heading straight for the next stretch of coastline.

Lin Wuming demanded that the process be expedited; he didn't want a detailed investigation, just a quick glance at the remaining locations would suffice.

“If I’m not mistaken, there shouldn’t be anything here,” Lin Wuming said. “I wonder who provided the information…”

“Nameless senior, do you mean… false information?” Wuhe looked over in surprise.

"Perhaps?" Lin Wuming said. "I'm not sure either, which is why we need to confirm it as soon as possible."

Wu nodded, and silently increased the car's speed.

During the journey, Lin Wuming asked again, "By the way, where are the rest of your Amakusa-style?"

“Uh… I’m afraid they can’t help.” Itsuki said with a dry laugh. “Her Highness the Pope has other important matters to attend to, and I don’t know where she is right now; Her Majesty the Acting Pope went to Academy City and should be able to return to England today; as for the others, according to the plan, they should all be in Italy.”

"Italy? Isn't that the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church?" Lin Wuming couldn't help but ask, "Are you preparing to take action against the enemy's headquarters?"

“Well…” Wuhe said with a wry smile, “We are both Christians. Although our beliefs are different, we are not to the point of being ‘enemies’.”

At the very least, it can't be said directly.

“They’re helping with the move,” Wuhe explained. “Sister Orsola’s home is in northern Italy. She’s converted to Puritanism, so she’s planning to move to London.”

Sister Osora is a professional intelligence analyst, especially skilled at deciphering magical codes, so even after joining the Church of Necessary Evil, she is still a very rare high-tech talent.

For knowledge and technology experts like these, their "home" also functions to some extent as a "studio," "resource room," or "library."

Much of the data stored there, if discarded, might be very difficult to collect again.

Therefore, for Sister Osora, her "home" was not a place she could easily give up.

This is why this "relocation operation" took place, and almost the entire Amakusa Cross Church mobilized to assist.

The goal was to get in and out quickly, to finish the job quickly, and to pack up and take away all of Sister Osora's collection and research materials in the shortest amount of time.

The opportunity is only once, and the Roman Catholic Church will not give them a second chance to pull such a dirty trick under their noses.

That's why Itsuki said that Amakusa-style companions didn't have time to come and support them today.
