Chapter 607 Departure
"A fourth-tier death knight... This... This is a monster capable of unleashing a cataclysmic disaster! It... It just died here like that?"

The leading general, a middle-aged man with a resolute face and sharp eyes, dismounted and strode towards the most conspicuous corpse.

When he saw the Death Knight, who had been brutally pierced through the chest by a long spear and pinned to the ground, his usually composed face twitched violently, and he gasped.

The soldiers behind him looked at each other, utterly shocked.

A fourth-tier death knight is more than enough to easily wipe out any of the 10,000-strong cities under the "Flame" tribe.

But in this remote corner that might not even be marked on a map, there lies a cold corpse.

The general composed himself, waved his hand, and a soldier stepped forward and shouted to the equally tired but vigilant Pan tribe warriors on the city wall, indicating that they were friendly forces from the "Yan" tribe, had no ill intentions, and simply wanted to understand the situation.

The hunter on the city wall hesitated for a moment, then nodded, turned around and ran quickly down the wall, obviously to report.

A moment later, the heavy gate of the tribe slowly opened, and an elderly man with white hair and beard, yet still walking steadily, emerged, surrounded by several skilled hunters. He was the village chief of the Pan tribe.

"Friends from afar, please come in."

The village chief's voice was slightly hoarse, but his eyes were clear and calm.

General "Shan" solemnly saluted the village chief and, accompanied by two adjutants, followed the old man into the tribe that had created a miracle.

However, the moment they stepped into the tribe, they were once again stunned by the sight before them.

Contrary to the imagined primitive and chaotic scene, the tribe was well-organized, with sturdy stone houses and clean roads.

What shocked them even more was that in the open space in the center of the tribe, hundreds of strong men who had just experienced a night of bloody battle were not resting, but instead were practicing some kind of strange breathing and cultivation.

With each breath they took, there was a visible flow of energy; with every movement they made, their muscles and bones resonated, and their blood and qi were as powerful as a furnace.

Shan judged almost instantly that the weakest of these warriors was probably at least at the third rank!
Level three!

In his "Flame" tribe, this was already an absolute elite, the captain level of a hundred-man team!
But here, it seems to be just the level of an ordinary soldier.

Even more outrageous was that the weapons they were wiping, whether spears, swords, or bows and arrows, all faintly exuded a sacred glow, and that profound and powerful aura was clearly not ordinary.

This small tribe, in terms of its foundation and its elite forces, has probably surpassed the massive "Yan" tribe!
Realizing this, Shan no longer dared to display the arrogance of a large tribe. He quickly walked to the village chief, bowed deeply once more, and became even more respectful.

"Old man, I am Shan, the scout commander of the Yan tribe. We are here on the orders of our chieftain to investigate the movements of the Undead, with the intention of uniting all surviving human tribes to fight against this great enemy."

Upon hearing this, the village chief smiled knowingly and nodded.
"As expected... exactly as the Sage Qi said."

"The Sage's Revelation?"

Shan keenly noticed the title, a hint of curiosity flashing in his eyes.

What kind of person would be respected as a "sage" by such a group of powerful individuals?
"Everything we possess is a gift from the Sage Qi. He taught us farming, metallurgy, writing, and spiritual practice, and last night, he protected us as we defeated these evil spirits from hell."

When the village chief mentioned this name, his aged eyes instantly filled with fervent worship and reverence. He gestured to everything in the tribe, from the sturdy city walls to the divine weapons in the warriors' hands, and then to the vibrant fields in the distance.
Upon hearing these words, Shan's heart skipped a beat, and a surge of excitement rushed to his head.

He grabbed the village chief's hand, his voice trembling slightly with excitement:
"Old man! Please let me see this sage! The Yan tribe needs his wisdom! The entire human race needs his guidance!"

The village chief smiled, patted the back of his hand, and reassured him:
“This is exactly what the Sage meant. Please follow me.” He led Shan through the noisy training ground to an inconspicuous stone house deep in the tribe, stopped, and gestured for him to enter on his own.

Shan took a deep breath, told his two adjutants to wait outside, and then, with a sense of pilgrimage, pushed open the stone door.

The scene inside was beyond his expectations. It lacked the mystery and splendor he had imagined. There was only a stone table, a stone chair, and a young figure standing with his back to him, facing the window. The man was dressed in the most ordinary hemp clothing, with long black hair, and his aura was as ordinary as that of a mortal who had never cultivated. This contrasted sharply with the hustle and bustle and power outside the window.

However, Shan dared not underestimate it in the slightest.

He could sense that this small stone house was like a world unto itself, where all the sounds, light, and even the flow of air achieved a perfect harmony with the young man's breath.

That's not power, but a return to simplicity that transcends power.

"Yan Tribe, Mountain, pays homage to the Sage Qi."

Shan bowed respectfully, "I humbly beg the wise one to lend a helping hand and assist my human race in overcoming this calamity!"

“I already know why you’ve come. Whether or not to send troops to help is not a decision I can make alone. Go and discuss it with them; the future of this tribe is for them to decide.”

Zhang Qi slowly turned around, nodded, and spoke in a calm and even voice.

Shan was stunned for a moment upon hearing this, and then a surge of joy welled up in his heart.

He understood that the sage was tempering the tribe's will, teaching them to think independently and make their own decisions! He bowed deeply again, said nothing more, and turned to leave the stone house.

Having received the sage's "permission," Shan immediately approached the village chief and the hunter leaders, solemnly requesting an alliance and assistance.

Inside the stone house, the hunters, who had just experienced a bloody battle, gathered again and began a heated discussion.

Finally, the burly man with the missing arm slammed his hand on the table and said in a deep voice:

"Help! Why wouldn't we help! The sage taught us the principle of 'if the lips are gone, the teeth will be cold' long ago! If we don't help the Yan tribe today, and they are wiped out by those monsters, tomorrow we will have to face the vast ocean of the undead alone!"

His words were echoed by everyone. The war had taught them the most profound lessons.

Gu and Xing, the strongest among them, stepped forward without hesitation and volunteered to lead the support army.

A few days later, a team of two hundred elite warriors from the Pan tribe, led by Gu and Xing, joined forces with Shan's troops and set off in a grand procession towards the "Yan" tribe, carrying the hopes and entrustments of the entire tribe.

Zhang Qi stood at the highest point of the observation tower, watching the departing team until they completely disappeared at the horizon.

He could feel that the seed he had planted had taken root and sprouted tenaciously on this cruel land, and had the ability to face the wind and rain on its own.

His mission here has been accomplished.

"The foundation of the path of cultivation has been almost fully deduced."

He murmured to himself, his gaze drifting to the more distant and expansive world.

"The chessboard has been set up, and now... it's my turn to make my move."
