Chapter 212 [Playing Dice]
Chapter 212 [Playing Dice]
Ethan eventually chose a house located in the port area by the sea. The house was on relatively high ground, on a slope, overlooking the sea. The surrounding houses were not densely packed, and it was not far from the port and the commercial area. It would not take too long to get to the city center.
It can be said that all the conditions are quite excellent.
Aside from the fact that it's not big enough, it's still too small compared to the Poletta Estate. Apart from an attached garden, there's only a two-story house with a total of five rooms.
The price wasn't cheap either; it was a whopping two million dollars for Ryan Gold.
However, considering the housing prices in the entire capital, Ethan still bought it, as he really liked the sea view outside the house.
At the same time, he also bought two other properties elsewhere.
One set was prepared for Palen and his group, and the other was kept as a backup in case anyone else came from Winston.
In the evening, Ethan returned to the hotel and had dinner with Palen and the others.
While Ethan was busy dealing with house matters, Palen didn't rest either.
Ethan's task for him was to gather information.
However, it's not news from the lower levels, but news from the upper levels.
Just like before in Winston, Ethan still wanted him to take the high road, to befriend the powerful and influential, or their children.
With Palen's social skills and the financial backing Ethan provides, it won't be long.
"Young Master, I've already registered as a member of a high-end club today. Give me a little more time, and I'll quickly get a clear picture of the situation in the capital."
Palen was giving his work report when he also mentioned Haska in passing.
To be honest, Haska is indeed good-looking. He can be a heartbreaker in Winston, and he might be able to do the same in the capital.
The incident happened a long time ago, and Sandro is dead, so Ethan doesn't really intend to pursue the matter any further.
It was simply a warning to him, to ensure that he would never again harbor any ambition to restore the Murridge family.
"I trust you to handle things. If you don't have enough money, just tell me. Oh, by the way, take this key. The house is ready for you. Go take a look tomorrow. If you're not satisfied, you can find a new one yourself, as long as it's worthy of your status."
Ethan handed the keys to one of the houses he had reserved that day to Palen.
Palen's public identity today is that of a successful businessman from Winston, who runs a frozen soil mining business and is very influential in the northern region.
"Thank you, young master." Palen was full of confidence; he was indeed a completely different person now.
After dinner, Ethan went back to his room to rest for a while. After Hrosh handed him the list, he went out.
Looking at the list in the car, Ethan suddenly remembered something: "Shall we go buy a car tomorrow?"
"Hmm." Anya is in a pretty good mood today.
Although they couldn't stop Sofia from moving in, at least she didn't end up living in her house.
And she really did feel the urge to drive.
Ethan arrived at his meeting place that evening just as he finished reviewing the list.
Gold Coast Tavern.
He had arranged to meet Carlos for a drink tonight, and also to meet a few people.
When they arrived, Carlos was already drinking in the tavern.
Of course, in the capital, the taverns only sell grape juice.
At least on the surface, all you can buy is grape juice.
"coming."
Carlos waved to Ethan.
"Let's go, it's inside."
Carlos drank the last of his water, stood up, and led Ethan into the inner room.
The people inside were smoking and playing cards, and the room was filled with smoke.
The arrival of Ethan and Carlos did not end the game; they simply glanced up and continued.
They were playing a card game similar to blackjack.
It ended with the man in the main seat winning everything.
This is a man with excessively high cheekbones, giving him a somewhat sinister and ruthless appearance.
"Hey Carlo, wanna play a couple of rounds?" The man took a couple of deep drags on his cigarette before greeting Ethan and the others.
"No, Jensen, you know I'm not very lucky."
Carlos refused.
However, the man named Jensen looked at Ethan again: "Where's the new friend?"
Carlos was about to help Ethan when Ethan spoke up: "I'm not very good at cards. How about we play dice? We'll see who's bigger. I'm pretty lucky."
"Oh?"
Jensen raised an eyebrow, his overly high cheekbones suddenly appearing like protruding spikes.
"Let's play dice then, come on."
He waved his hand, and the people who had just been playing cards with him stepped aside. Someone brought over two sets of dice cups.
Carlos glanced at Ethan, who smiled back at him, indicating that he was reassured.
Then he sat down opposite Jensen.
Jensen picked up one of the dice cups, tilted his head, and said, "Shall we begin?"
“Come on,” Ethan nodded.
Then, Jason began to demonstrate his amazing dice-playing skills, showing that he was a true veteran gambler.
In contrast, Ethan simply shook it a couple of times and then put it down.
After Jensen put down the dice cup, he suddenly smiled and said, "How about we bet on something?"
"What kind of bet?"
“Bet…” Jensen seemed to be deep in thought. After a while, he seemed to have a flash of inspiration. “I’ve got it! Let’s bet on the hand you’re using to hold the dice cup!”
“Hey, Jensen!” Carlos had to speak up.
Jason didn't speak, he just looked at Ethan.
Ethan nodded: "I won?"
"I'll give you this hand."
"open it."
Ethan did not object.
"You're a guest, you go first."
Ethan shrugged, indicating that he didn't care, and then opened the dice cup.
Three, three, four.
It's definitely not a large number.
“Wow, you’re in danger, friend. Have you decided which prosthetic leg to choose?” Jason raised an eyebrow again when he saw the number.
"I don't really like prosthetics, so I'll give them to you. I happen to know a skilled prosthetist who makes really good ones, and they come with a ten-year warranty. If you mention my name, you can get a discount."
Jason just smiled when he heard this. His teeth were very white, and with his prominent cheekbones, he looked like a fierce, strange fish.
Unveiling the secret.
Three, three, three.
Jason, who had been so confident of victory, didn't even look at his own cup, but just waited for Ethan's expression. Instead, everyone around him was quietly inhaling.
Obviously, the result was beyond their expectations, after all, they knew Jensen's strength all too well.
Jason himself knows better than anyone else.
Then he saw the answer.
"Wow, what a pity, it was just a little short."
Jason frowned and stared at Ethan.
"If you want to play another round, that's fine too. I told you I'm very lucky; I've never lost a game of 'high' or 'low.' Want to play one more round?"
"One more round." Jensen gritted his teeth, then added, "Change the cup."
