Durin's Diary

Chapter 908 Arrival

Chapter 908 Arrival
The arrival of this little old man made Du Lin understand some of the ulterior motives behind Zhennanguan.

They warmly welcomed Dulin's arrival as a powerful fighting force, after all, the Demon Army represented a continuous offensive. The last time the Demon Army came, countless people died in Zhennan Pass, including three hundred Celestial Masters. Even the legendary Celestial Masters were wiped out.

This time they were even prepared for the complete loss of the city, but no one expected Dulin to arrive so quickly and be so capable.

In the old man's words, as soon as he heard that a little candle dragon was coming, the general of Zhennan Pass was almost ready to carry his coffin out of the city to meet the enemy. But then the second wave of messengers brought new news: the little candle dragon first awakened the mountains, then sang across the plains, and the tree spirits in the mountains swept through the defenses outside the First Guard City.

So the old man was sent over to see what was going on.

Instead of going to Dulin first, he went up to the city wall and looked at the giant elemental body outside the city that had not yet returned to its original position. He was extremely excited because the telegram from the capital only contained four words.

Support has arrived.

At first, everyone in Zhennanguan thought the shipment to the capital had been sent by mistake, but later they found that it was indeed true and the support was in place.

The one who came was the old man's descendant, one of their own, and a super-powerful being.

So the little old man, representing everyone, asked a rather daring question: "Lord Dulin, what year is it now?"

The true intentions have been revealed.

Dulin smiled and said, "I'm twenty-two, but let me make this clear first: I already have a wife, so please don't cause me any trouble." After saying this, Dulin thought for a moment, then simply opened a door and poked his head in.

………………

Anta looked at Dulin, who was peeking out of the teleportation portal opened on the blackboard, and put down her textbook with some confusion: "Honey, what's wrong with you? Is something wrong with Changtang? Didn't I already send several sisters to help you?"

“Some people think I’m young, you know,” Dulin said with a smile.

"This is outrageous!" Anta rolled her eyes and threw her books on the table. "The teacher is going to ask for leave to beat someone up. You guys study on your own first."

The kids in the audience cheered.

………………

The old man looked at Anta, who was being led over by Dulin, and was somewhat at a loss—because Anta was wearing a mage's robe, which clearly indicated that he was not from the East.

Anta sat down next to Dulin—Dulin's chair seemed to grow larger as he did so. She looked at the old man and said, "Hello, although I don't know what happened here, I am Dulin's wife."

After she finished speaking, she glanced at the south of the city. Dulin thoughtfully gave her the coordinates—below the coordinates was the Demon Army's camp. They left one camp behind and the main force retreated a bit further. According to veterans who had fought against them several times, they were preparing to build siege equipment when the follow-up troops arrived.

Anta nodded, made a few gestures with her little hands, and then it started to rain.

By the way, it was a rain of fire, the kind that included meteorites.

“You’re not having a peaceful time here either,” Anta said with a smile to the old man.

Looking at the dense rain of fire in the south and listening to the gloating laughter of the soldiers on the city wall, the old man scratched his head somewhat awkwardly: "I heard that Lord Dulin has a virtuous wife, but I didn't expect you to be so capable."

"That old bastard is shameless!" Eleven and Orange cursed in unison.

Although the old man was shameless, Anta was very happy with what he said, so she looked at Dulin and said, "Where is this? It doesn't look like the capital of Changtang to me."

“This is Zhennan Pass, south of Changtang. Demonic troops want to attack this garrison city and the magnificent pass behind it. The old men are all busy, so I came here.” Dulin explained the situation to Anta. Upon hearing this, Anta nodded: “Since I’m here, I can’t just stand by and watch. I’ll come and help too.”

At this point, she stood up: "Aren't you going to walk with me?"

His daughter was telling him to leave, and the old man surnamed Guo wasn't some ignorant fool; he was someone who understood the unspoken meaning. So he immediately got up and said goodbye to Du Lin.

After everyone else left, Dulin led Anta up the city wall.

Then I saw the huge fortress in the far north.

"Wow, it's huge!" Anta exclaimed, looking at the city wall. "The walls of Lublin are no match for these walls. I really can't believe how they built such a magnificent wall."

"Spells, huh? Here, mages are called Celestial Masters," Dulin explained, leading Anta to look into the city.

“You must have demolished this place, right? I saw they were building a hospital there, but what’s with those holes they dug?” Anta asked, pointing to the street.

"Stuff all the supplies that have been brought in into the hospital, and then reinforce it with magic. That way, we won't have to worry about the demon army's catapults or cannonballs setting it on fire. As for the hospital, we can use smaller arrays to intercept projectiles."

"It's a very good method; the wounded can't withstand long transport distances."

“Yes, and the healed wounded can be transported to an underground treatment center in another block, where they will also be reinforced with surgical techniques.” Dulin pointed to another block where houses were also being demolished.

“You’ve grown accustomed to war, Dulin,” Anta said, looking at him.

Dulin sighed: "I would rather live in a world without war, but I also understand that even without evil gods, without these monsters, alien species and green-skinned orcs, wars will still break out among humans. So I would rather live in such a world, at least there would be no war among humans, and everyone could join hands to fight against evil."

“But I believe we will resolve this and end it all.” After saying this, Anta looked out of the city walls again.

The demon army's camp was burning. Although it was far away, Dulin could still see demon cubs escaping from the camp from time to time, fleeing quickly into the distance.

“Yes.” Dulin said, taking Anta’s hand. “I only hope that our generation can end the evil gods’ ravages on civilization. As for what happens after that… I believe that, at least while our generation is still here, there will be no war between human civilizations.”

"Then it's up to you, darling." Anta smiled as she walked beside Dulin.

"It's not up to me alone, it's up to everyone who loves the land beneath our feet." With that, Dulin led Anta down the steps.

"Come on, it's time. I'll take you to eat. I'm sorry, although Changtang has countless delicacies, here we can only make do with simple meals." At this point, Du Lin added with some regret, "I'm really sorry."

"It's alright, as long as you're here, that's enough." With that, Anta smiled and snuggled up to Dulin.
