Durin's Diary

Chapter 891 The White Horse

Chapter 891 The White Horse

The halfling was clearly an experienced pilot; Dulin taught him everything and he learned in no time. He took to the air to test the aircraft. He circled around from another direction and then used a very standard dive-bombing tactic to hit the target. He hit 35 out of 40 shots, and the remaining five were close-range bombs.

The effect was immediate. Du Lin looked at Lin Xiangguo and said, "We could consider using proximity fuses. Have you developed any?"

Lin Xiangguo blinked, then turned to look at the development department staff who hadn't spoken a word.

The bearded man nodded, then shook his head: "We did find records of this kind of fuse in the Old Era Library, but we have never been able to make a complete and reliable reconstruction."

A radio proximity fuse typically consists of a ignition control system, a safety system, a detonation sequence, and an energy source. Its ignition control system includes components such as a sensing device, a signal processing device, and an actuation device.

As the projectile approaches the target, the inductive sensing device of the fuse senses target information based on certain characteristics or changes in the physical field of the target and its surrounding environment. This information is then transmitted to a signal processing device for amplification, filtering, and discrimination, thereby extracting characteristic quantities reflecting the target's position, velocity, and direction.

When the target's characteristics meet specific conditions, such as being within the range of the warhead's damage characteristics, the signal processing device outputs an activation signal to the actuator. Upon receiving the signal, the actuator outputs an initiation signal to the detonation sequence, which ignites the electric detonator, ultimately detonating the warhead's explosive charge and fulfilling the fuze's mission.

Ask them if they know anything about radio.

Eleven said so.

So Dulin asked a question.

“Of course we understand radio, but our navy’s biggest enemy, the Puppet Bones, also uses radio, and they also eavesdrop on our radio communications. So our general combat orders are still issued through radio codes that change every month or simply through flag signals.” The bearded man shrugged. “We understand what you’re saying to some extent, but the Puppet Bones will obviously interfere with our radio. If it’s a radio-based proximity fuse, our operational efficiency might be very worrying.”

Upon hearing this, Dulin sighed helplessly: "Alright, it seems that we can't use the radio proximity fuse on the puppet bone side, but it should be fine on other sides. I'll explain the principle of its use to you in a bit, and you can mass-produce a batch and give it to the garrison on other sides to let them try it out."

“No problem.” The bearded man nodded.

The halfling celestial master has returned, and with his performance, even more people want to go up and try.

Lin Xiangguo also discussed the possibility of purchasing technology with Du Lin.

Although Dulin was short of money in many areas, he still refused the possibility of purchasing the technology: "I am willing to give you these technologies for free, not for my own pocket, nor for your military merits, but to bring more young people back. War always results in death; whoever is unlucky will suffer. What I am doing is ensuring that fewer people are the unlucky ones." After saying this, Dulin looked at the bearded man: "Now let's have a good talk about various technologies. If I can answer any of your questions, I won't hold back."

………………

After Du Lin left with the development team members, Lin Xiangguo looked at Old Qian once again.

The latter kept his head down and remained silent.

Lin Xiangguo patted him on the shoulder: "Remember what this child said; he sees things more clearly than either of us." After saying that, Lin Xiangguo looked up at the sky.

There, the first naval rear admiral with the title of Celestial Master had already entered the attack range.

"What's the range of our latest 250 model missile again?" Lin Xiangguo asked.

"The range of the extended-range missile is currently ten kilometers," a member of the development team who remained answered.

"Ten kilometers. If we were to pursue and attack, we would need to get even closer. Moreover, we have always advised the Celestial Masters against attacking the Puppet Bone's bombers from behind, because they have automated defensive machine guns. Our Celestial Masters' flight speed is slower than that of fighter jets, which is too dangerous," an old Celestial Master from the air force analyzed.

“We can consider launching an attack from the flank, or even a head-on attack. For example, the first wave of attacks could be a dive attack from above their front, launching rockets and then using goggles to lock onto the puppet skeleton's bombers. This way, we can launch an attack from more than ten kilometers away,” the former halfling celestial master said.

Then, the several Celestial Master pilots discussed it and all agreed that as long as they had such a hit rate, a single attack by the two Celestial Masters would be enough to shoot down a wave of Puppet Bone bombers. As for the Puppet Bone torpedo bombers that flew even slower, it was even simpler—rocket shells flew much faster than them, and their anti-aircraft firepower was not as strong as that of the bombers, and could even be described as weak.

As more celestial masters and pilots joined the discussion, they quickly discovered more uses for this guided rocket—it could even allow fighter pilots to use goggles to launch 100mm extended-range rockets from their fighter jets to attack enemy fighters. In terms of combating fragmentation, fighter jets were far superior to celestial masters. As long as the pilot was safe, the fighter jet could crash if it did. As long as the pilot could take down more enemies in one sortie, even if the fighter jet was lost, it would still be a gain.

As long as the bombers of Changtang can launch attacks on various targets of the puppet bone without losses, the escort fighters will have completed their mission. And if the survival rate of the personnel is guaranteed under this premise, it will be an even greater blessing.

This made Lin Xiangguo, who was listening to their discussion, feel very gratified - as long as Du Lin can really help the naval aviation, he would be happy to call him "Grandpa" every day, after all, he had called him that when he was a child.

As long as one's mind is clear, one can be shameless without any burden.

"Prime Minister Lin." At this moment, a veteran naval officer walked over.

Lin Xiangguo nodded: "General Sun, is there anything I can help you with?"

"Mr. Dulin's willingness to share his skills so generously must have been at the behest of the old Marshal. We don't know what you sacrificed for this, and we don't want to know, but everyone will remember your contributions to the Navy."

After saying this, the old man and a large group of naval leaders bowed deeply to Prime Minister Lin.

"Huh?" Prime Minister Lin didn't react for a moment.

"We are deeply grateful for the Prime Minister's noble character!" someone echoed.

Lin Xiangguo was a little touched. He nodded and said, "I don't need to worry about my personal reputation. As long as what I do can help Changtang and the navy, I will definitely do it."
