Durin's Diary

Chapter 1058 Joyful Birth of a Month

Chapter 1058 Joyful Birth of a Month

Dulin stepped out of the rift and glanced at the men and women sitting or standing in the corridor. Some of them recognized him, such as Hack van Krigg.

The king now had sunken eyes and looked incredibly old. His once-handsome slicked-back hair was gone, replaced by an explosive mess of frizzy hair.

Yes, the woman who was willing to comb his hair is now lying in a hospital bed, barely clinging to life.

But when he saw Dulin, he stood up: "You're too late... Gala has fallen into a coma again."

“It’s not too late, because I’m here to say goodbye to her,” Dulin replied.

After saying that, he stretched out his hand, and a huge clock appeared in front of Dulin. Dulin turned the hour hand, and when the coughing sound came from the room again, he walked to the door of the ward.

Some young people tried to stop Dulin, but a reprimand from Lady Gala inside the ward opened a path for him.

Everyone stared at Dulin with horror in their eyes—because Dulin's move had transcended the realm of extraordinary legends.

Dulin pushed open the door and went inside.

This is a private ward in Saint-Louis Hospital in Paris. Although it is summer, the magic circle in the room still adds a touch of coolness to the hot season.

The setting sun outside the window shone through the gauze curtains into the room, onto the waxed dark oak floor, onto the crisp, white sheets and blankets, and onto the haggard old woman.

Gala Doran watched Dulin walk in and smiled helplessly: "I thought you were in the East and wouldn't come back to laugh at this old hag."

She lay in this excessively clean environment, her thin body almost buried in thick white pillows and blankets, only her pale, almost transparent face showing.

Her once long hair was now completely gone, and the pathology stamp on the collar of her blue hospital gown was blank, while the sunlight outlined her shadow at that moment.

Her hands, with slightly deformed joints and age spots, were folded on the blanket.

"You shouldn't be injured like this." The chair next to Dulin grew legs and eagerly made itself at Dulin's beck and call.

The room was unusually quiet, with only the regular, restrained ticking of the brass-rimmed grandfather clock in the corner.

On the bedside table sat a small white porcelain water glass and a spotless lamp.

The only clue to her condition was the glass IV bottle on the shelf, slowly dripping pure white liquid. The transparent rubber tube meandered all the way, eventually piercing the thin skin on the back of her left hand where the veins were almost invisible.

That's sanctified saline solution, sold openly by the church at a very affordable price, even the poor can afford it.

“Yes, but looking at the crossbow in that child’s hand, I hesitated. Maybe this is retribution. I killed so many orphans for the Krigon family, and now they’re using another child as an assassin to kill me…” At this point, the old woman sighed, “Actually, I couldn’t move aside. The second son’s family was right behind me.”

Dulin nodded: "I told you you shouldn't have been ambushed so easily. Why? Because the second son isn't yours and Hark's, right?"

"Yes, but the one who gave birth to him was my half-sister. She died young, and before she died, she asked me to take good care of her children. My whole life has been about repaying her kindness. Everything I have done is for this debt of gratitude that I can never repay."

Gala's eyes drooped. She didn't look at Dulin sitting on the edge of the bed, but at a piece of paper on the wall opposite the head of the bed. The paper had a scribbled figure on it, which was obviously a child's doodle.

It must be the second child's child.

Dulin guessed that.

Madame Gala's eyes were unfocused, her gaze seemingly piercing through the paper, directed towards some distant place known only to herself.

Each breath she took was labored, carrying an ominous, weak whistle, and the white blanket covering her chest rose and fell only very slightly. Sunlight shone on the sheets, but the warmth of summer could not penetrate the coldness beneath her thin skin.

"Including killing the ignorant and disobedient military orphans, just like before?" Dulin expanded his domain.

At that moment, the children gathered around her bed.

“Political struggles have no warmth, and power struggles lack mercy. Mr. Dulin, you should understand this. In the Sidney Union, there are only royalists and nobles. No one can stand on their own. If we don’t kill them, they will die because of the nobles.”

As Madame Gala stopped speaking, the brass clock also stopped.

A death god named Jaeger appeared in the ward, surveying everything before finally bowing to Dulin.

"Don't rush, I still have some questions to ask." Dulin smiled and then reached out his hand.

The hour hand of the brass clock turned back once more.

Lady Gala's eyes lit up again as she looked at Dulin: "This isn't the kind of power a legend should have."

Dulin smiled and revealed his true form to the lady.

Looking at the giant dragon nestled among the mountains before her, she finally sighed, "The people of the old era were truly more terrifying than gods. How could they have created an existence like you?"

“Probably because they are creative enough,” Dulin said, picking up an orange from the bedside table, peeling it with his hands, and feeding the flesh to the old woman in front of him.

She said thank you, bit into the fruit, and ate it with some effort.

The children gathered around the hospital bed, showing great patience.

Suddenly, someone pushed open the door.

Huck stood outside the door, tears streaming down his face as he looked at his Gala.

Standing beside him was the goddess of love, who bowed to Dulin with a pained expression: "I cannot bear to see lovers unable to say their final goodbyes."

“I know, I forgive you,” Dulin said with a smile, tossing the woman an orange.

Huck came over, the children made way for him, and he sat down on the edge of the bed without hesitation, reaching out to hug Gala.

“You shouldn’t have come. At normal times, I should have already lost consciousness. This is the execution ground that Lord Dulin created for me.”

“I know, but I am still filled with regret because I have not yet said goodbye to you. I prayed to all the gods, and it was the god of love who gave me this opportunity.”

Dulin looked at the man and woman in front of him. In some people's eyes, they were heinous criminals, but in others' eyes, they were the best couple.

People are different, and they are also different in the eyes of different people.

Dulin watched as they looked at each other, embraced, and finally kissed goodbye.

Du Lin had seen plenty of love, but he had never really seen anything like this before.
