Chapter 477 Amusement Park
Seeing Fred and George's perfectly synchronized imitation, Harry and the others couldn't hold back any longer and burst out laughing. This was followed by waves of laughter. Ron was laughing so hard he couldn't stand up straight, his shoulders shaking as he leaned on the table. Harry was laughing so hard that tears were almost streaming down his face, and he wiped his eyes with the back of his hand. Neville, on the other hand, kept nodding and laughing, clearly thinking that the two imitations were too realistic.
Their laughter was infectious; Dylan, Luna, and Hannah couldn't help but laugh out loud as well. Sirius was especially overjoyed, tilting his head back and laughing so hard that his Polaroid camera, hanging around his neck, swayed back and forth, bumping against the edge of the table several times with a soft "thump," but he didn't seem to care. The Longbottoms were also caught up in the joyful atmosphere, their faces full of contented smiles as they laughed along with everyone else.
"Ahem!" Ginny cleared her throat, deliberately put on a stern face, glared at Fred and George, and snorted with a hint of dissatisfaction, "Alright! Alright! You two stop fooling around here! If you keep laughing, the whole village will probably hear us!"
Upon hearing Ginny's words, Fred and George immediately stopped what they were doing, obediently retreating into their armchairs. They sat ramrod straight, hands resting neatly on either side of the armrests, heads slightly lowered, looking like two well-behaved students who had just been scolded by their teacher. They secretly looked up, winked at Ginny, and deliberately put on innocent and aggrieved expressions, whining in unison in a pitiful tone, "Okay...we won't act silly anymore..."
Their sudden change in tone and posture made Ginny unable to control herself and burst out laughing. Her previously deliberately serious face instantly broke down, and she joined in the laughter with everyone.
Even Fleur Delacour, who was always aloof and distant, was completely infected by the lively and joyful atmosphere. Her tense facial lines gradually relaxed, and she turned her head slightly to hide her smile from others, but her shoulders were trembling and the corners of her mouth were turned up without any attempt to hide it, revealing a rare relaxed smile.
The laughter lasted for a long time, until Harry and Ron started hiccuping incessantly, at which point it gradually subsided.
Everyone laughed until they were exhausted, slumped in their chairs, their chests still rising and falling slightly.
"Hiccup!" Ron's words were broken from hiccups. He rubbed his cheeks, which ached from laughing, and asked, "What were we talking about... hiccup? I think it was about tomorrow's plans... hiccup!"
"Healed to full health!" Dylan picked up his wand from the table, gently pointed it at Harry and Ron, and chanted the healing spell. A soft white light flashed, and their hiccups immediately subsided. He put down his wand and said with a smile, "We were just about to talk about which Muggle attraction we should visit tomorrow. Mr. Camille can also help us prepare the tickets in advance."
"How about we find a place that showcases Muggle technology?" George immediately chimed in, his eyes full of anticipation. "I mean, a place where we can directly experience Muggle intelligence. What do you think of this suggestion?"
"I'm not really familiar with Muggle attractions," Fleur Delacour said candidly, shaking her head with a hint of apology. "But if you'd like to visit French wizarding sites or other magic-related places, I can recommend quite a few worthwhile destinations."
“In that case, how about we consider a ‘European theme park’?” Hermione suddenly thought of something, her eyes lit up, and she offered her idea.
"An amusement park?" Fred's eyes lit up instantly. He leaned forward slightly and asked eagerly, "Is it the kind of place with lots of rides and attractions where you can have fun? Are there all sorts of fun things inside?"
“Yes!” Hermione nodded affirmatively, her tone tinged with excitement. “I’ve read about it in Muggle travel books. There are probably only four such large theme parks in the world right now. There are two in North America, and there’s one in France where we are now, and it’s quite large.”
“This is the place!” She quickly pulled a map of Paris from her backpack, laid it flat on the table, and pointed to a marked point on the map. “Because it’s quite far from the Eiffel Tower, in the suburbs of Paris, we didn’t see it when we were in the city this afternoon.”
"Roller coaster?" George's gaze fell on the markings on the map, his voice rising considerably as he looked at Hermione with curiosity. "Hermione, what's a 'roller coaster'? The name sounds like some kind of vehicle-related facility?"
“Uh… how should I describe it?” Hermione tilted her head and thought for a moment, trying to find a suitable description. “It’s a bit like the minecarts you ride in Gringotts’ underground vaults, but it has a lot more variety, is faster, and has all sorts of up-and-down flips and rapid dives… it’s pretty much that kind of thrilling amusement ride.”
"That's fantastic!" Fred and George shouted in unison, their eyes shining like stars, their faces beaming with undisguised excitement. "With Muggle technology and such thrilling rides, we're all for going here!"
After they finished speaking, they immediately turned to the others and asked eagerly, "What do you guys think? Shall we go to this European theme park tomorrow and experience the fun Muggle rides together?"
"No problem! No problem!"
"Yes, I agree."
"Okay, since everyone agrees, let's do it this way."
The next morning, sunlight streamed through the stained-glass windows of the monastery-style building, casting dappled shadows on the long table in the dining room. Dylan and his companions sat around the table, enjoying a sumptuous breakfast—golden, crisp croissants, fragrant ham, freshly baked croissants, warm hot cocoa, and freshly squeezed juice—each dish whetting their appetites. Just as they were enjoying their meal, a crisp "snap" suddenly rang out, and the house-elf Basque appeared instantly in the center of the dining room. He was still wearing his clean, starched coarse cloth clothes, small in stature but with an upright posture. Upon seeing Dylan, he immediately bowed deeply and said respectfully, "Master Hawkwood, here are the things you requested. Mr. Camille specifically instructed me to bring them on time."
As he spoke, he reached out and opened a dark blue velvet bag he was carrying, taking out a stack of beautifully printed tickets and two tattered belts that looked somewhat familiar. Even without Dylan's translation, Harry, Ron, and the others immediately understood—the Basque Country had not only sent tickets to a European theme park, but also the key to the park. The two tattered belts were almost identical in material and style to the key they had used before.
"Thank you, Basque, it's kind of you to make this trip." Dylan took the tickets and key, thanked him politely, and seeing that Basque was still standing respectfully, casually asked, "It's still early, would you like to have some breakfast together? There's plenty of food on the table."
Upon hearing this, Basque's face instantly showed a hint of surprise, his eyes widening slightly as if no one had ever asked him such a question before. He quickly lowered his head deeply, his nose almost touching the ground, and said with a touch of flattery, "Thank you for your kindness, Master Hawkwood! But Basque has already had breakfast, and I am already very satisfied to serve you and all the guests."
"Dylan, when did you tell Basque Country about our trip to the European theme park?" Sirius put down his toast, his tone tinged with surprise. "I remember we only finalized our plans last night, how come we got the tickets and keys this morning?"
“I told Mr. Camille last night during the Ministry of Magic’s working hours, around nine o’clock,” Dylan explained as he distributed the tickets to everyone. “When I mentioned our travel plans to him, he said he would arrange for someone to handle it immediately. I didn’t expect him to be so efficient; he had the Basque deliver them first thing this morning.”
Last night's discussion ended with Hermione's proposal being unanimously approved. Everyone was filled with anticipation for this theme park full of Muggle technology and thrilling rides, and unanimously decided to set off for it the next day. Ron picked up his assigned ticket, then took out the alchemical pocket watch he had kept as a souvenir from his pocket. With a "click," he opened the strap, checked the time, and exclaimed in admiration, "It's not even ten o'clock yet! The French Ministry of Magic is so efficient! I thought I'd have to wait ages to get these things."
“Look at you! Ronald, you’re wrong about that!” Fred swallowed the croissant in his mouth, wiped his mouth, and said with a hint of teasing, “What era are we living in? You still have such a stereotype about the Ministry of Magic.”
“That’s right!” George immediately agreed, picking up the hot cocoa pot from the table and pouring half a cup of warm hot cocoa into Fred’s cup. “This is really just a stereotype at work! Think about it carefully, you can’t generalize.”
Fred picked up his hot cocoa cup, swirled it gently, and raised an eyebrow, asking, "So tell me, is Percy's work efficiency... considered high?"
“And Percy…” He paused, a complex expression on his face, “He’s a complete workaholic. He even brings Ministry of Magic work home to work overtime. I feel that if the Ministry of Magic allowed it, he would probably take on all the work of the Ministry by himself, afraid that someone else would steal his credit.”
"And what about our dad?" George continued, a sly glint in his eyes. "Dad works in the Department for the Prevention of the Misuse of Muggle Items at the Ministry of Magic. What do you think of his efficiency?"
“Dad’s work efficiency is beyond question!” Ron immediately straightened his back, his tone filled with pride. “That’s my dad! He’s always serious and responsible at work, and he handles everything quickly and well, never procrastinating.”
"I totally agree with that!" Fred blew on the hot cocoa to lower the temperature, then took a small sip.
Just as everyone was chatting enthusiastically about the efficiency of the Ministry of Magic, a slight sound of a door opening suddenly came from outside the restaurant, followed by faint conversations. One of the clear female voices was particularly familiar—it was Fleur Delacour's voice. Everyone instantly perked up, and the weariness on their faces vanished.
"Fleur is here!" Harry was the first to react, excitedly saying. They had arranged a departure time with Fleur long ago, and now that she had arrived, it meant that once they were all ready, they could immediately head to the long-awaited European theme park.
Sirius Black stuffed the last bite of toast into his mouth, picked up his coat hanging on the back of the chair, and said, "Then let's hurry up and get ready, don't keep Fleur waiting too long! The tickets and door keys are ready, we can leave anytime."
Everyone sprang into action, quickly tidying up the items around the table, carefully storing the tickets and door keys, and then following Sirius Black out of the restaurant. After meeting up with Fleur, the group successfully arrived at the European theme park using the door key.
As we entered the park, the staff at the entrance smiled and handed each of us a color map. Sirius couldn't wait to unfold the map, spread it out in his palm, and carefully examined it. After a moment, he nodded in satisfaction: "I didn't expect it to be a bilingual map. It has both French and Mandarin on it, which makes it much more convenient to use. I don't have to worry about not understanding the route."
“I already asked the Muggle staff at the entrance beforehand.” Fleur Dracule diligently fulfilled her role as guide, taking out her map from her pocket, spreading it out in front of everyone, and pointing to the area marked “Adventure World” on the map. “They said the most thrilling and popular roller coaster here is in this park, called the Indian Temple Roller Coaster.”
“The Muggle staff even told me that the second half of the Indian Temple roller coaster has a section where the track can rotate 360 degrees. Many people were terrified by this part of the ride and screamed nonstop. But it is precisely because of this thrill that it has become a popular attraction in the park,” Furong added, her tone tinged with curiosity.
Following the direction Furong pointed, everyone looked and indeed saw a magnificent building standing not far away—the so-called Indian temple. This temple was entirely constructed of massive, bluish-gray stone blocks, the gaps between them clearly visible. Ancient and mysterious patterns were carved into its surface, exuding an exotic charm. A rust-red roller coaster track surrounded the temple, winding and twisting, sometimes soaring high into the sky, sometimes plunging down, its overall design quite rugged, enough to make one's heart race just looking at it.
