Hogwarts: Starting with full Unforgivable Curses

Chapter 461 Luna's way of thinking is indeed different from others.

Mrs. Maxim put down her saucer and teacup, the porcelain cup clinking against the table with a crisp sound.

“Mr. Hawkwood, you are very humorous and talented.”

“Actually, I understand the thinking of those conservatives.” She continued, “They are not really against change, but they are afraid of unknown risks and the fear of failure after stepping out of their comfort zone. As long as someone can prove the safety and feasibility of this path, even if it is unprecedented and full of challenges, they are willing to put aside their concerns and follow in the footsteps of the pioneers.”

"Yes, that's just how people are."

She looked up at the magical starry sky on the carriage ceiling, exhaled softly, and after briefly gathering her thoughts, returned to the main topic: "Mr. Hawkwood, let's get back to our initial topic."

“We’ve been talking for quite some time now, and we’ve gotten to know each other better and trust each other more. Regarding the invitation I initially extended to you, I wonder if you’d be interested in accepting it?” Her eyes held a hint of anticipation. “Not just you, anyone you deem qualified is welcome to visit and exchange ideas at Beauxbatons this summer. We’ll open our doors to everyone, letting them fully experience Beauxbatons’ magical atmosphere and alchemical heritage. If we can collaborate, I think you could actually do something too, like establishing your own small organization. I’ve heard that your school has a pair of very intelligent and talented twins who, under your guidance, are developing very rapidly. Wouldn’t these people be ideal candidates for an organization led by you?”

“Yes, I will consider it carefully. And Mrs. Maxime, thank you very much for your frankness and kind invitation, and thank you for sharing so much about the past and difficulties of the French magic industry.” Dylan smiled sincerely and said firmly, “Of course I am willing to accept this invitation. It is also a rare learning opportunity for me.”

"You agreed? That's great!"

After discussing all the details, Mrs. Maxim stood up and said, "Alright, we should go out now. The teachers and students outside should be waiting for quite a while."

She led the way, seeing Dylan off as they walked through the elegant common room and reception hall, stepping down from Beauxbatons' giant carriage.

I just came down.

Just as Dylan was about to say something more, he suddenly noticed that Hagrid was still waiting on the grass not far away. When he saw Mrs. Maxim get off the carriage, he immediately raised his thick arm excitedly, waved vigorously, and showed a simple and honest smile on his face.

Hagrid strode forward and said loudly in a boastful tone, "Mrs. Maxim, you've finally come out! I've checked it carefully several times, and there's absolutely no problem with the carriage. You can set off without worry!"

Mrs. Maxim was in a particularly good mood at that moment. She gave Hagrid a gentle smile and said kindly, "Mr. Hagrid, thank you so much! You've been waiting here all this time and so carefully checking our harnesses. Thank you so much!"

Hearing Mrs. Maxim's gentle thanks, Hagrid blinked his round eyes unconsciously, and the faint blush on his cheeks instantly spread like a flame—first engulfing his neck under his thick beard, then climbing up to his ears, and finally even his furry ears were stained a bright red, like ripe cherries.

"How could it be hard?" He quickly waved his thick hands, trying to hide his shyness. As he waved his hands, the air currents he created made the soft mane on the neck of the horse next to him float gently and brush against the horse's cheek.

“It’s not hard work at all!” Hagrid said, then suddenly turned his head to the side, lowering his voice as if he were muttering, “These are all things I do willingly. I’m happy to be able to help.”

His large, restless hands clenched at his sides, and his gaze inadvertently swept over the horse's mane, which was somewhat disheveled by the wind. As if he had found the perfect place for it, he quickly reached out and carefully began to smooth the mane, trying to tidy it up.

However, Hagrid's hands were too broad and his movements were somewhat clumsy. After all that work, the mane of the Divine Horse not only did not become neat, but was instead made even more messy, like a fluffy clump of dry grass.

Hagrid looked at his "masterpiece," scratched his head somewhat embarrassedly, and then burst into hearty laughter: "But only people of our size can handle something as big as this, hahaha!"

This was the first time Dylan had ever seen such a shy yet honest demeanor in Hagrid.

Hagrid's hearty laughter echoed across the grass in the early morning, full of sincerity and joy. However, Mrs. Maxim's smile froze the moment she heard those words—the gentle curve of her lips seemed to be frozen by a sudden frost, and she could no longer maintain her smile. Her brows furrowed slightly, and a complex emotion, barely perceptible, flashed in her eyes.

However, Mrs. Maxim quickly regained her composure. She seemed to keenly sense Dylan's gaze, took a deep breath, and exhaled gently. Her expression had returned to its previous calm, as if her earlier outburst had never happened.

She lowered her head, her gaze falling on Dylan, and said gently, "Mr. Hawkwood, I'll leave you here. Have a pleasant summer vacation, and I look forward to seeing you again in Beauxbatons."

After saying this, she nodded solemnly to the two of them, then turned around and stepped onto the carriage steps without looking back. Her figure quickly disappeared into the passageway to the right of the reception hall, leaving only the silent Divine Horse and Hagrid still grinning foolishly outside the carriage.

Dylan naturally noticed Mrs. Maxim's fleeting change in expression. Although she concealed it quickly, the brief hint of unease he noticed made him understand her attitude towards Hagrid's last words.

Dylan and Hagrid returned to school and happened to see Luna.

He walked over.

Luna smiled slightly when she saw Dylan, and then said to Hagrid, "May I talk to you more about Fantastic Beasts? I have some questions I'd like to know the answers to."

"How about we talk more about magical creatures? Of course!" Hagrid's eyes lit up, and he repeated Luna's words with great interest, his face instantly beaming with excitement.

"Oh, right! Actually, Orim is also quite accomplished in magizoology, and is quite skilled at breeding all kinds of magical creatures!" He slapped his thigh as if suddenly remembering something important, "Remember those beautiful Pegasus she brought to Hogwarts? I've worked at Hogwarts for so many years and have seen many breeds of Pegasus. I've handled ordinary Pegasus and silver-maned Pegasus..."

"I've seen quite a few divine rune horses, but to be honest, no family or magical institution has bred one as beautiful and magnificent as Beauxbatons'. Their manes are as shiny as silk, their muscles are smooth and powerful, and they fly with exceptional elegance. Do you know why?"

Hagrid looked at Dylan and Luna with anticipation, as if he were testing his students.

After a moment's thought, and drawing on his previous research and speculation, Dylan replied with certainty, "Is it because something different has been added to their daily diet?"

"As expected of Dylan! You guessed it right away!" Hagrid gave Dylan a thumbs up excitedly, his tone full of praise. "That's right, that's right, she added a kind of liquor! It's called single malt whisky! These divine horses have extremely high requirements for their diet. Ordinary grass and water simply cannot satisfy them. Only single malt whisky can keep them in their best condition."

“Olive is so knowledgeable! He knows so much about the habits of the storks!” he exclaimed sincerely. “I’ve raised magical creatures for so many years, and this is the first time I’ve known that storks would be so fond of single malt whisky. This is truly an unexpected discovery!”

“I knew it…” Dylan nodded slightly. He had discovered while researching the various books in the Hogwarts library that almost no books explicitly recorded the crucial habit of the Godwalker's preference for single malt whisky; he had only learned the answer from someone else. It seems that learning can't be done by simply burying oneself in books and conducting experiments.

“Hagrid, since you know that the magical beasts like single malt whisky, have you ever tried this?” Dylan looked up at Hagrid, a hint of inquiry in his eyes. “For example, feeding other kinds of magical creatures some single malt whisky and seeing if they would like it too?”

“Dylan, how could you have guessed that I had tried this?” Hagrid stared wide-eyed in surprise, his face full of disbelief. “I thought that since single malt whisky has a rich flavor and can bring such good results to the Divine Horse, it must be a very good product. So I thought I would try it on my other magical animals to see if I could improve their condition or discover some new habits.”

The group chatted for a while longer before bidding farewell to Hagrid and leaving the spacious wooden cabin on the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

Dylan and Luna looked up and saw a pure azure blue covering the entire sky, so clean that there wasn't a single impurity, not even a wisp of cloud in sight, as if it had been carefully painted with the purest pigment, and the horizon stretched as far as the eye could see.

It was still early morning, and the golden sunlight gently shone on the grass of Hogwarts, casting a soft glow on the emerald green blades.

Morning dew still clung to the blades of grass, shimmering in the sunlight like scattered stars.

The air is filled with the moist scent of earth and the fresh aroma of grass; taking a deep breath is invigorating.

Dylan and Luna strolled side by side across the vibrant meadow, their pace slowing.

"Dylan, congratulations."

"What are you congratulating me on?"

Dylan turned his head.

"Of course, it's because you've gained new insights into the path of magic."

Dylan blinked and couldn't help but smile.

Luna's way of thinking is indeed different from others.

He had originally thought Luna would congratulate him on his achievements in the competition, or that he would be awarded a medal, gain fame and fortune, and so on.

Unexpectedly, the congratulations were for his new achievements in the field of magic.

He really liked the congratulations.

"Thank you."

“It seems like it’s been a long time since we’ve had a private chat. You haven’t been going to wander around the Forbidden Forest much lately.”

Luna turned her head and looked ahead.

"Well, I've been a bit too busy lately. After finishing one thing, there's another, and after finishing that, there are still other things to do. In short, one thing after another, I'm always busy."

"It's good to be busy. Being busy allows you to feel time slipping away from you, instead of it disappearing little by little without you noticing."

“Yes. That’s right.” Dylan nodded.

The two walked side by side, chatting about trivial matters.

Before they knew it, they had returned to Hogwarts Castle.

From afar, Cedric, Draco, and Harry emerged from the oak gate, surrounded by several Beauxbatons warriors, including Fleur Delacour. The group stood in the square in front of the castle, talking to each other.

Judging from this, the students of Beauxbatons must be about to end their exchange at Hogwarts and prepare to return to school, which is why the Beauxbatons warriors came to say goodbye to Harry and his friends.

The warriors of Beauxbatons were talking when their eyes inadvertently swept across the room and caught sight of Dylan and Luna.

Their eyes lit up immediately, and they all raised their hands and waved enthusiastically at the two of them, their faces beaming with smiles and their eyes filled with genuine warmth.

Adele Lefebvre spoke first, her tone tinged with emotion and reluctance: "It has been such a wonderful thing to participate in this Triwizard Tournament and to meet so many of you outstanding friends here! This experience will be a very precious part of my memories."

Claudia Laroche, with a touch of playfulness, looked at Dylan and smiled, "Mr. Hawkwood, it's good that you came back in time. I was worried that you were too busy with your research and wouldn't have a chance to say goodbye properly. If that had happened, I would have felt really regretful."

Dylan smiled gently, his gaze falling on Claudia, and replied in a light tone, "It's good that such a regret didn't happen. Being able to say goodbye before you set off is just as important to us."

He knew very well that, unlike the champions of Hogwarts, this school year was the last year for the three champions of Beauxbatons as students.

After they return to France and successfully complete their graduation ceremony, unless they can successfully apply for professorships at Beauxbatons or other magic schools based on their excellent grades and outstanding abilities, they will never again have long and free summer vacations like they did during their student days.
