Chapter 454 The Order of Merlin, First Class

"Dylan."

Dylan had just finished clearing away his tableware and was about to leave with the crowd when a gentle, smiling voice came from behind him, its tone light and cheerful like a leaping musical note.

He stopped and turned around, only to see Professor Flitwick walking towards them on tiptoe, the hem of his wide wizard robe swaying gently with each step, his face full of a kind smile, his eyes curving into two crescent moons.

"Good morning, Professor Flitwick!" Dylan nodded in greeting, his voice carrying just the right amount of respect.

"Good morning, my boy!" Flitwick nodded, reached into his wide sleeve, took out an envelope, and handed it to Dylan. "Dylan, this was specially sent to you from Wizengamo. The owl messenger just delivered it to the office, and I brought it over for you."

The envelope was made of thick parchment, its texture tough to the touch, with fine, interwoven gold lines on its surface. These lines formed a complex and delicate pattern, gleaming softly under the auditorium lights. A deep red wax seal was pressed against the envelope's opening, perfectly intact, and engraved with patterns that echoed those on the envelope's surface. In the very center of the pattern, a clear "m" was prominently displayed, its edges bearing the delicate texture naturally formed by the cooling wax.

Dylan reached out and took the envelope. He could feel the hard texture of the wax seal and the rough texture of the parchment under his fingertips. His roommates, who had been following behind, immediately gathered around curiously when they saw this.

Harry Potter's gaze first fell on the wax seal, and when he saw the letter "m" in the center, his eyes widened, he couldn't help but gasp, and his voice rose sharply with barely suppressed surprise: "My God! This is the mark of the Order of Merlin! This letter is from the Order of Merlin!"

His shout instantly attracted the attention of many students around him. The crowd that was walking around stopped and looked curiously in Dylan's direction.

Some people craned their necks, some stood on tiptoe, and murmurs rose and fell.

"A letter from the Order of Merlin? Is it for Dylan? Good heavens!"

The twins squeezed to the front, staring intently at the envelope in Dylan's hand, their tone utterly certain, as if they already knew the answer: "In my opinion, this must be the notification of the awarding of the medal to the Order of Merlin!" To further convince them, they nodded vigorously, adding, "There's absolutely no mistake about it!"

Someone turned to look at the curious classmates around them, their voice still tinged with excitement: "I've always found it strange that the Ministry of Magic hasn't made any concrete statements about what happened before, even though that incident has been reported for so long. Turns out, the main event is here!"

The gazes coming from all directions made the entire corner particularly eye-catching. Without the slightest hesitation, Dylan used his fingertips to open the seal on the envelope. The moment the envelope was opened, the neatly folded letter inside suddenly floated out automatically and hovered in mid-air.

Immediately afterwards, a calm and familiar voice rang out, it was Headmaster Dumbledore's voice, clearly echoing throughout the Great Hall: "This is the official notification from the Wizengamor administration..."

The letter, suspended in mid-air, unfurled slightly, and Dumbledore's calm and solemn voice continued to echo in the Great Hall. Every word was clear and powerful, piercing through the scattered whispers and gradually quieting the entire space.

"【Jerusalem Merlin Honors Committee】"

To His Excellency Dylan Hawkwood:

With the sincerest respect and recognition, the Wizengamo Union Merlin Honours Committee hereby confers upon you the highest honor of the 'Order of Merlin, First Class'.

This honor is awarded in recognition of your outstanding contributions to the entire magical world, as well as your exemplary responsibility and remarkable achievements as a model wizard, demonstrated in times of crisis.

The Order of Merlin, First Class, is the highest honor and recognition in the wizarding world, awarded only to wizards who have achieved great things that only a select few can attain and made indelible contributions to the wizarding world.

The awarding ceremony will be held solemnly at the designated time and place:
Time: 9:00 AM, June 29th
Location: Main Hall of the English Ministry of Magic

May Merlin's wisdom and courage always accompany you, and we look forward to your glorious journey, continuing to lead the magical world towards a brighter future.

My sincerest congratulations!
The agreement was jointly signed by the Chairman of Wiesengamore and the Merlin Order's Honours Committee.

As Dumbledore's voice faded, the entire Great Hall fell into an unusual, extreme silence. The students who had been chattering just moments before were now all stunned, their mouths agape, their eyes wide, their faces filled with disbelief, as if they had been petrified. The air itself seemed to freeze, leaving only the sound of their heavy breathing.

"Yes, no one's ears were hit by the Dementia Curse!" Professor Flitwick's voice suddenly rang out, high-pitched and bright, filled with barely suppressed joy and pride, clearly wanting everyone in the Great Hall to hear it clearly. "This is the 'Order of Merlin, First Class'! The highest honor in the wizarding world!"

He stood on tiptoe, his smile as bright as a blooming flower, his gaze fixed on Dylan, full of approval: "If my memory serves me right, Dylan, you will be the youngest wizard in the history of the wizarding world to receive the Order of Merlin, First Class! This is an unprecedented achievement!"

As soon as Flitwick finished speaking, the absolute silence was instantly replaced by a volcanic eruption of noise.

"Merlin's beard! Was I really not drunk just now? That's a first-class medal?" A student rubbed his ear vigorously, his voice full of shock.

"You absolutely cannot drink!" the person next to him immediately retorted, their voice filled with the same agitation.

“Speaking of Third Class badges, I suddenly think of Lockhart!” someone shouted. “When he was teaching at Hogwarts, he used to talk about his Third Class badge all the time and show it off to everyone he met. Now it seems that compared to a First Class badge, it’s nothing at all!”

“That’s right! Lockhart’s so-called ‘achievements’ can’t compare to Dylan’s at all!” another student chimed in. “Dylan genuinely thwarted the Death Eaters’ plot and even confronted that mysterious man head-on. He deserves the First Class Medal!”

"Most importantly, Professor Flitwick said he's the youngest! That's incredible!"

A cacophony of whispers, gasps of amazement, and cheers erupted, completely enlivening the auditorium. The students who had initially surrounded Dylan grew ever larger, pushing and shoving to get a closer look at this legendary peer. Even the professors already seated at the long table couldn't contain their curiosity and admiration, rising to their feet and hurrying towards Dylan, their faces beaming with satisfaction.

The Gryffindor students were even more excited, their faces beaming with pride, and their cheers were much louder than those of the students from other houses.

The twins squeezed to the front, their faces beaming with pride: "From now on, when I introduce myself to others, I can just say—I'm the older brother of my roommate who received the Order of Merlin, First Class! That's so prestigious!"

"Where's the face in this?" someone scoffed.

Ron also managed to squeeze in, and nodded upon hearing this.

He's the one who should have face!

Dylan stood in the center of the crowd, a gentle smile on his face, without the slightest arrogance or complacency, and simply patted Ron on the shoulder beside him.

The professors approached one after another. Professor McGonagall smiled broadly, a rare sight, and solemnly said, "Dylan, congratulations. This is an honor you deserve."

Other professors also offered their congratulations, and the cheers and congratulations in the auditorium lingered for a long time.

The matter had not yet spread to every corner of Hogwarts, and Dylan squeezed through the gaps in the crowd.

Seeing this, the surrounding Gryffindor students readily made way for the two, some even spontaneously blocking the way behind them to slow down the flow of others. With the tacit support of his fellow students, Dylan finally escaped the crowded Great Hall, quickly walked through the corridor, and returned to the common room.

“There’s a second sheet of paper in the envelope.” The twins squeezed in, wanting to see Dylan’s letter. As Dylan spoke, he took out the parchment envelope from his pocket. With a gentle twist of his fingers, the folded letter unfolded, revealing the previously overlooked sheet of paper. In the auditorium, there were too many students watching, and the scene was too chaotic. He hadn’t had time to carefully check the contents of the envelope until now, back in the common room, where he finally had the chance to calm down and examine it.

"A second sheet of paper?" Ron's eyes widened instantly. "What's on it?"

Dylan looked down at the words on the second sheet of paper, his eyes quickly scanning it. A slight smile played on his lips, and his tone was calm yet carried a hint of barely perceptible surprise: "Nominees, hmm, quite a few."

Upon seeing Dylan acknowledge the large number of nominees, the students in the common room erupted in excitement. Everyone craned their necks, their eyes filled with eager anticipation, urging, "Dylan, can we see this letter too? Which important figures' names are written on it?"

Dylan smiled and nodded. He took his wand out of his pocket and gently tapped the second piece of paper in his hand.

As a soft silver light flashed from the tip of the wand, the small parchment slowly floated up, stretching and expanding in the air until it became about the size of the blackboard in the common room. The text on it was enlarged and clearly presented to everyone, ensuring that every student who gathered around could see it clearly.

The text on the paper was solemn and neat, with the familiar signature at the top, and the content was clear and concise.

[Wizengamo Management Body and Merlin Order Honorary Committee]

To His Excellency Dylan Hawkwood: The awarding of the Order of Merlin First Class requires a rigorous and meticulous review process and a formal nomination stage, both of which are indispensable to ensure the fairness and authority of the honor.

We hereby present to you the list of outstanding individuals for whom you have been nominated.

These nominators not only hold prestigious positions and status in the wizarding world, but also highly recognize and praise your outstanding contributions to the wizarding world. They have formally recommended you to the Order of Merlin's Honors Committee as a candidate for the "Order of Merlin, First Class".

This joint nomination is one of the highest honors a wizard can receive from the English wizarding world. It signifies that your achievements and influence are widely recognized as having broad and profound significance, and are worthy of study and respect by all wizards.

List of nominees (in no particular order)

The following nominees are all members of the Order of Merlin, senior officials of Wizengamor, or important figures with high reputations in various fields of the wizarding world:
Lord Albus Dumbledore: Holder of the Order of Merlin, First Class, Chief Wizard of the Wizengamo Administration, President of the International Confederation of Wizarding Strategists, Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry...

When Dumbledore's name and a long list of titles appeared on the paper, a collective gasp filled the common room as students expressed their heartfelt amazement.

"My goodness! Headmaster Dumbledore has so many titles! I only knew he was the headmaster and chief wizard before, I didn't know he had so many other important titles!" A lower-grade student exclaimed, his eyes wide with admiration.

Hermione looked at the contents of the paper and couldn't help but shrug, her tone tinged with emotion: "That's why Headmaster Dumbledore is so magnanimous. Cornelius Fudge was targeting him at every turn, questioning his judgment, and even spreading rumors about him in the wizarding world, but he never held a grudge and generously nominated Dylan. His magnanimity is truly admirable."

Her words immediately resonated strongly with the students around her, who nodded in agreement. Amid the discussions, everyone's eyes eagerly turned to the next content on the paper.

His Excellency Barty Crouch.
Her Excellency Amelia Borns
Lady Gersylda Marchban.
Lady Sophie Cliona
……

As one impressive name after another appeared on the paper, the gasps of amazement in the common room never ceased. With each name read out, the students would subconsciously exchange a shocked look.

These people are all top figures in their respective fields of the magical world. Their names are usually only seen in newspapers, books, or important announcements. Now, they have all joined forces to nominate Dylan for the Order of Merlin, First Class. This is an unprecedented honor.

The last part of the paper is an explanation of the nomination process. (End of Chapter)
