Hogwarts: Starting with full Unforgivable Curses

Chapter 384 The mistress is always so great and so wise!

Just as Sirius was coughing incessantly from the ashes and his face was flushed, the emerald green fireplace flames surged again, and a small, thin figure emerged from the flames.

It was Kreacher, the house-elf.

He was wearing that faded old shirt, and his movements were so nimble that he didn't seem like an elderly elf.

Kreacher simply raised his hand and waved his fingers, and a glass of clear water appeared out of thin air in his hand.

He strode over to Sirius, handed him the water glass, and said in a high-pitched voice with a hint of complaint and smugness, "Oh! It's a good thing Kreacher came along and anticipated that the young master would make a fool of himself. Otherwise, if the young master had been coughing incessantly in front of so many guests, it would have been very rude and disgraced the Black family."

Sirius took the water glass, took a big gulp, and the discomfort in his throat finally subsided, and he stopped coughing violently.

He shoved the empty cup into Kreacher's arms, his eyes filled with impatience, and said fiercely, "Thanks, but shut up! Nobody wants to hear your lectures."

“At least the young master knows how to say ‘thank you,’ he still retains half of his manners and hasn’t been completely corrupted by Muggle habits.” Kreacher didn’t care about Sirius’s attitude at all, and continued to wave his fingers, and glasses of water appeared out of thin air, accurately handed to Dylan, Neville and the others, each of them getting a glass.

After distributing the water, Kreacher's gaze fell on Dylan, and his eyes instantly lit up. He quickly walked up to Dylan, bowed deeply, and his tone became respectful and obsequious: "Oh! My dear young master Dylan, you look radiant, even more energetic than the last time we met! Would you like some snacks? Kreacher will prepare them for you right away. Whether it's honey cake or strawberry pudding, Kreacher can make them perfectly."

"Kreacher, long time no see." Dylan greeted the respectful house-elf with a smile, then turned to look at the people around him and suggested, "How about we prepare some cake? We can all have a taste, and it'll keep us more energized during the meeting."

"What a generous and considerate young master Dylan! Your kindness shines like starlight!" Kreacher bowed deeply again, his waist almost touching the ground. "Kreacher will go and prepare the most exquisite fruit cake, I guarantee everyone will be satisfied!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Kreacher did not return to the fireplace and leave through the Floo Network as he had come. Instead, he spun around on the spot, and with a slight ripple in the air, he Apparated and disappeared from the room, leaving only a faint magical aura behind.

"Finally, some peace and quiet!" Sirius breathed a sigh of relief, as if a heavy burden had been lifted. He waved his hand and gestured for everyone to sit down on the chairs in the room. "Don't pay any attention to him. That's just how he is; once he starts nagging, he never stops."

Everyone took their seats, and the atmosphere in the room gradually relaxed.

While everyone was organizing the materials, Lu Ping chatted with them about recent developments.

Besides brewing potions every day at the potions factory of that unknown philanthropist, he was also trying to learn more about the Muggle world through various means.

He was filled with curiosity about both the technological development and social culture of Muggles, all in order to achieve the long-term goal of "bringing magic to the whole world".

As Lupin's close friend for many years, Sirius was naturally influenced by him and began to actively learn about the new things in the Muggle world.

Even before he was imprisoned in Azkaban, Sirius Black had a strong desire to explore the Muggle world and never rejected Muggles like other pure-blood family members.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have put in the effort to create a flying motorcycle that combined magic and Muggle technology, which became his proudest work during that period.

So, in their spare time, Sirius and Lupin, who had recently returned to England, would often leave their old house at 12 Grimmauld Place and venture into the Muggle city, wandering through its streets and alleys.

They would stop to observe Muggle vehicles, look curiously at the novel products in department stores, and even sneak into Muggle cafes to listen to people around them talking about current events and experience firsthand the changes in the Muggle world.

Of all the Muggle inventions, Sirius Black showed a particularly strong interest in "live television broadcasts".

He could hardly believe that Muggles could come up with such an ingenious way, allowing people thousands of miles away to watch games, news, and performances in real time with just a small television set. This kind of visual transmission across distances amazed him.

At the time, the Quidditch World Cup had just ended, and Sirius Black was still regretting not being able to attend the game in person.

Inspired by live television broadcasts, he suddenly had a bold idea: he wanted to use the power of magic to create a "Quidditch live broadcast" for the wizarding world!
Through specially made magical items and spells, real-time footage of Quidditch matches is transmitted to various locations, allowing wizards who cannot be present due to distance, status, or other reasons to clearly experience the intense competition and exciting moments of the matches.

There was another personal reason why he was so eager to realize this idea: when Harry participated in Quidditch, he could watch Harry's heroic performance of running on the pitch and catching the Golden Snitch from anywhere through the magical live broadcast he developed, so that he would no longer miss important moments because he could not appear in public.

However, Sirius and Lupin kept the development of this "magical Quidditch live stream" quite secretive.

They were worried that the idea would attract the attention of the Ministry of Magic, or even be exploited by some people with ulterior motives, so they only discussed it with a small group of trusted people, and all the research and development work was carried out in a secret room at number twelve Grimmauld Place, in order to avoid leaks.

That's why, until recently, when the development of "Quidditch Live" encountered an insurmountable bottleneck, Sirius Black finally decided to initiate this meeting to formally bring the matter to the forefront and discuss it with Dylan and the others.

Actually, before this, he and Lu Ping had not told Dylan about it, mainly because Dylan was preparing for the Triwizard Tournament, and the pressure of the competition was already very high. They did not want to distract him with research and development, and only wanted him to be able to focus on the various challenges in the competition.

In addition, there was another important reason: Sirius and Lupin both felt that they should do more practical things in order to demonstrate their value.

As Sirius Black stood up from his chair and cleared his throat, the meeting about the live broadcast of Magical Quidditch officially began.

"I think everyone has heard of the magic radio, right? It's a magical device that can receive sounds from afar. Since it can transmit sound over long distances, it's not entirely impossible for us to achieve real-time transmission of images."

He paused, then continued, “However, a magical radio can only transmit sound, while a Muggle ‘live television broadcast’ allows viewers to receive both sound and visuals simultaneously. That’s the biggest difference between the two. To be honest, I really didn’t expect Muggles to be this clever these days. When I was researching flying motorcycles, I found that although they looked complicated, the actual principle was quite simple; it was simply combining Muggle mechanical structures with magical power.” “But this Muggle ‘live television broadcast,’ and the television set used to receive the signal, are not so simple.” Sirius’s tone was somewhat wistful. “According to the information I’ve found, in order to achieve long-distance real-time transmission of images, Muggles have combined a lot of their own scientific research results, such as the conversion of electrical energy, signal processing on electronic boards, and various complex circuit designs. These things are like heavenly books to us wizards.”

Next, Sirius began to elaborate on the various obstacles he encountered in his research on "live television broadcasting," from not being able to understand Muggle circuit diagrams to being unable to comprehend the transmission logic of electronic signals; each step gave him a headache.

"Until one day, I stayed up all night studying those Muggle materials, and my head was spinning. I accidentally opened the curtained cabinet in the old house in Grimmauld Place, and I heard my mother yelling again." Sirius smiled helplessly. "I can almost recite all her insults by heart. They're basically saying that I'm a disgrace to the Black family, scum, and unworthy of using magic."

“But it was that phrase, ‘unworthy to use magic,’ that suddenly woke me up.” His eyes suddenly lit up. “I’m clearly a wizard, and my forte is using magic. Why should I obsess over Muggle technology and spend so many days researching electricity and electronic boards? I should solve problems in a wizarding way!”

"The mistress is always so great and so wise!" Just then, Kreacher suddenly appeared at the door pushing a small cart with a huge fruitcake on it. His high-pitched voice broke the focused atmosphere in the room, "Even though the young master broke her heart back then, she still doesn't hold a grudge and guides the young master on his path forward in the dark, helping him find the right direction."

"Kreacher!" Sirius Black growled, his brow furrowing deeply. "Shut up right now! From this moment on, you're not allowed to utter another word!"

Although Kreacher looked aggrieved, he obediently followed Sirius's orders and stopped talking. He simply pushed the cart to the front of the crowd and began distributing the cake.

He gave Dylan a particularly large portion, probably because he felt Dylan was the most respected person there.

Seeing this, Dylan took advantage of the fact that Kreacher hadn't turned around to leave, cut off a large piece of his cake, and handed it to Kreacher.

Kreacher took the cake, his eyes instantly welling up with tears. He bowed deeply to Dylan several times, muttering "kind young master Dylan" under his breath. Then, holding the cake, he Apparated away from the guest room, leaving only faint magical ripples behind.

Only after Kreacher had completely left and the room returned to silence did Sirius speak again, his tone much calmer than before: "Where were we... Oh right, I realized I shouldn't have been so fixated on Muggle principles; I should have been thinking about how to achieve the effect I wanted through magic."

He turned to Fred and George sitting beside him and continued, "So I brought these two kids here, wanting to use the Marauder's Map as a prototype. As you know, the Marauder's Map can display the location and movement of everyone in the castle in real time. We wanted to borrow this magical logic so that the game footage could be displayed in real time on paper or a special screen, just like the figures on the map."

"Everyone can take a look at this instruction manual first. With the help of the illustrations, you'll be able to understand what we're about to talk about more easily," Sirius said, taking a stack of pre-printed instruction manuals from his backpack and distributing them to everyone present.

"You borrowed the Marauder's Map?" Dylan raised an eyebrow.

"Yes." Sirius nodded.

Just as he was handing out the instruction manuals, Fred and George also stood up from their chairs and walked to the center of the room.

The two worked seamlessly with Sirius, one pointing to the diagrams in the instruction manual and explaining the steps, while the other explained the underlying magical principles. They thoroughly explained the framework and details of the entire plan, from how to set up the magical signal acquisition points to how to process the signals through alchemy and how to achieve stable image output. Every step was explained clearly and concisely.

Listening to Sirius, Fred, and George's explanations, Dylan quickly grasped the principles behind the entire plan.

He found the three men's design ideas to be quite ingenious, and even understood in conjunction with the theories they had previously studied. Just as different herbs need to be mixed in proportion to maximize their effects, the various magic spells in this plan also need to be precisely coordinated to achieve real-time transmission of the images.

Although the plan involved many alchemical principles, such as how to convert magical energy into visual signals, the final implementation used a mirage as the ending to present the final live broadcast effect.

The so-called mirage is actually the magic used on the ceiling of the Hogwarts Great Hall. When the Great Hall was built, the wizards used this spell to display the outside sky in real time on the ceiling of the Great Hall, so that people in the Great Hall could see the weather changes outside at any time.

Now, Sirius and his friends want to improve the principle of this spell so that it can transmit real-time footage of Quidditch matches.

Explaining your design ideas clearly and ensuring that everyone present can understand them is no easy task.

Sirius stood in the center of the room, explaining the complex principles of magic while gesturing the path of signal transmission. Fred and George assisted him, sometimes pointing to the illustrations in the instruction manual to add details, and sometimes drawing simple sketches on paper to aid their understanding.

The three of them spoke and gestured, their foreheads glistening with sweat, before finally managing to explain the core of the plan.

After confirming that Dylan, Neville, and the others present had no questions, they finally breathed a sigh of relief. Almost simultaneously, they turned around, picked up the water glasses on the table, and drank the water in one gulp. The long explanation had left them parched, and this glass of water finally relieved the dryness in their throats.

At this point, Lu Ping suggested that everyone take a break, since it's easy to get tired from focusing on the explanation for a long time.

Everyone accepted the suggestion and began to enjoy the fruitcake that Kreacher had left behind.

The cake was soft and fluffy, and the fruity sweetness was refreshing. Paired with water, it was just the right amount to dispel the fatigue from earlier.

The meeting continued only after everyone had finished eating the cake and rested enough.

Sirius Black was once again the chair of this meeting.

He cleared his throat, his tone becoming serious: "Although we've figured out how to present the live broadcast using magic, there's still a crucial problem unsolved: how can we obtain real-time footage of the match? This is especially important for matches with special scenarios, and we need to consider this in advance." (End of Chapter)
