Chapter 233 Letters from Hubert and Florin
Chapter 233 Letters from Hubert and Florin
After Dylan led Harry and the others back to Hogwarts, he went back to reading.
Before he left the Gryffindor common room and headed to the library.
The atmosphere among Harry and his Iron Triangle was very somber.
But this has nothing to do with Dylan; he'll continue doing whatever he wants.
The afternoon flew by.
Dylan studied the properties of his spell for a while.
I'm hoping to find some information about his spell properties in the spellbook.
In the end, he did find some records, but not many; they were only briefly mentioned and not described in detail.
While these records do not explain Dylan's spell characteristics in detail on a one-to-one basis, they at least record some of the effects of his spell characteristics.
This surprised Dylan.
I didn't expect that someone had already brought up this idea before.
However, ideas are one thing, but turning them into reality is naturally not an easy task.
Without a system, even with the max-level spells he knows, it would be difficult for him to extend the spells to have more special effects.
Sitting at the long table in the Hogwarts Library.
After finishing the book in his hand, Dylan began to pack his things.
He gently closed the book and put it into his schoolbag.
Those that need to be returned should be tidied up.
He then carefully put away the quill pen, ink bottle, and parchment notebook.
I had just fastened the metal buckle on my backpack.
An owl suddenly flew in through the window.
"Luna?"
The snowy owl flapped its wings and landed on the table, clutching a letter sealed with red wax tightly in its claws.
Seeing that it was about to bark, Dylan immediately took out a strip of meat from the system panel and threw it into its mouth.
"Alright, alright, stop yelling. This is a library. Let's eat something."
Luna cooperated by opening her mouth and taking the meat strip in her mouth.
Dylan then reached out and took the letter from Luna.
“A letter from Mr. Hubert, how could these two bear to write to me?” Dylan smiled slightly.
Unfold the letter.
My father's messy handwriting came into view.
“Following your instructions, son, I made another profit. I used some of it to buy a gemstone for your mother at an auction. It looks really beautiful on her. But I won’t send you a photo of it—I’ll keep these photos for myself. You can look at them when you come back.”
"The remaining pounds, besides maintaining the company's normal operations, will be sent to you by owl at Christmas—good heavens, wizards are so expensive! I suspect those big companies are all working for wizards—and I guess I'm right?"
"Remember not to spend all your money on Honeydukes candies—but you can buy some more for your mother. She's obsessed with them and doesn't even like the regular candies I buy for her."
"I'm doing well here, so don't worry about your mother. I'll take good care of her. You should also take good care of yourself over there. Write to your mother more often when you have time, as we haven't been receiving any letters from you lately."
"Your loving father."
The edges of the letter still carried a faint scent of ink, mixed with the frosty smell of snowy owl feathers.
Dylan couldn't help but let the smile on his face grow wider and wider.
He ran his fingertips over the letter.
This letter paper wasn't parchment, but ordinary paper used by Muggles, and it felt a bit rough to the touch.
Although his adoptive parents occasionally forget about him as their son, it's quite obvious.
They still love him.
The owl suddenly tilted its head and pecked at his finger.
Dylan turned around and found that Luna had finished eating the meat strips and was looking at him expectantly.
"What a little glutton, just like the coal balls."
He folded the letter and stuffed it into his inner pocket, then tossed Luna a piece of meat.
Then she picked up her schoolbag and walked towards the door.
The soles of the boots made a regular "tap-tap" sound as they stepped on the stone pavement.
Luna tilted her head back and swallowed the meat strip into her stomach. Then she flapped her wings and flew to the side above Dylan.
"Go back. I don't need you to bring those pounds over for me. Otherwise, you might get crushed."
Dylan waved to Luna.
After leaving the library.
Luna cried out, then flapped her wings and flew away.
Dylan glanced at the approaching evening sky.
"Another sum of pounds has arrived, and the pet space can be expanded again."
The amount was so substantial that his father had to write to him specifically to inform him of it, though Hubert didn't specify it.
Unfortunately, the size of the space is determined by Galleons, and we'll have to wait until we exchange those pounds for Galleons.
It will shrink by several times.
Millions of pounds might only get you a few hundred thousand gallons.
While thinking.
Dylan walked towards the restaurant.
It's really time to eat.
His stomach was already rumbling.
I just walked into the restaurant.
Dylan saw Harry looking dejected, mechanically scooping out cream soup with a spoon and putting it into his mouth.
Ron and Hermione both looked constipated.
I don't know what happened between them.
Dylan raised an eyebrow but didn't greet them. Instead, he sat down next to Neville.
When Neville saw Dylan arrive, his gaze remained fixed on him until Dylan sat down.
Seeing his hesitant expression, Dylan shoveled a sizzling steak in front of him.
—This is a steak with a lot of fat; it smells delicious just from the aroma.
Dylan loves this kind of steak.
"What's wrong? Harry and the others are like this, and you're doing it too?"
While elegantly cutting his steak with a knife, Dylan asked casually.
He spoke up.
Neville, who hadn't known how to ask the question before, couldn't hold back any longer.
He glanced cautiously at Harry and the others, then lowered his voice, leaned close to Dylan's ear, and whispered.
"Dylan, what happened to Harry and the others? I was planning to go to the Three Broomsticks to find you guys today, but they weren't accepting minors! So I just wandered around with Seamus and the others for a while, and when I came back in the afternoon, I saw Ron and Harry sitting in their dorm room."
At this point, Neville paused, his voice lowering even further.
"My God, you have no idea, I initially thought the two of them had a fight!"
Dylan glanced at Harry not far away and shrugged: "If only it were just a fight."
"Huh? What do you mean?" Neville asked, bewildered.
Is it more serious than a fight?
Could it be that Harry and Ron both have a crush on the same girl?
"Pfft!"
After hearing Neville furtively raise this question.
Dylan almost spat out the cauliflower bits he was chewing.
"Why would you think that?" Dylan looked at Neville with a surprised expression.
Seeing that Dylan's reaction seemed a little different from what he had expected, Neville scratched his head sheepishly.
"Uh, I was just hearing you say that it would be great if they could just fight it out when they were in trouble~"
Dylan smiled and gently tapped the table with his finger.
"That's true, but I'm sorry to disappoint you, they're not both in love with the same girl. Of course, I can't tell you the specifics without Harry's permission, but I can say that—"
Dylan also lowered his voice.
Neville, looking curious, moved closer to Dylan and listened intently.
"what?"
"The truth is far more absurd than that!"
Neville's eyes widened.
He stepped back slightly.
"Even more melodramatic than falling in love with the same girl?!"
God!
This was the most absurd thing he could ever imagine!
Even more melodramatic than this
They're not here today.
What exactly happened at the school?
Neville was itching to get his hands on the product.
However, he couldn't very well pester Dylan to pry into other people's private affairs. In the end, he could only scratch his head and finish the meal.
Dylan had just finished eating and got up to leave the restaurant.
Suddenly another owl flew towards him.
Dylan looked closely.
It's his snowy owl Luna again!
He lifted his head, letting Luna fly onto his arm.
Dylan looked at the letter the little guy was clutching with some curiosity.
"Someone wrote to me again?"
Dylan didn't feed Luna meat strips this time.
Luna is neither a fire dragon nor a shadow.
Eating so much meat at night will cause indigestion.
"Alright, you can keep bothering me without getting any meat—you should have just finished your evening rations, right?"
Dylan remained unmoved as Luna nuzzled his head.
Finally, after discovering that her master was a heartless person, Luna turned her head away and flew off.
Dylan shook his head.
"What a heartless ingrate."
He looked at the letter in his hand.
"Huh? Is that Uncle Florin's letter?"
The letter was sent by Florin, the ice cream vendor in Diagon Alley.
This was indeed somewhat unexpected for Dylan.
"Why would an old man send me a letter?"
Unfold the letter.
Dylan quickly scanned it.
The opening remark was naturally a congratulatory greeting for the upcoming holiday.
In the middle, he's questioning Dylan about why he hasn't been going to Diagon Alley to get ice cream with him lately.
The last thing mentioned made Dylan raise an eyebrow slightly.
"Was Vera injured by a Death Eater while chasing Karthus?"
What level of Death Eater could possibly harm a top graduate from Hogwarts?
Dylan looked down and glanced at the end of the letter again.
"Oh! How could she go and hunt down those bad guys all by herself? That's incredibly arrogant! I've always told you not to underestimate any wizard! Even a little kid who hasn't even grown a beard can unleash the most terrifying spells to defeat you! How can you not be careful? Now she's finally learned her lesson, thankfully she's alright."
"But I need to find that Death Eater. How dare he harm my daughter? She's so lovely, so kind, so righteous!"
"Hmm—I think I've been rambling on a bit, but kid, there's really no one around me who can listen to my complaints. If you've read this far, I want to thank you."
"Finally, could you please write a letter for me to send to Vera? I only said a couple of things to her, and she's already throwing a tantrum and refusing to come see me. I don't think she's read the letter I sent her."
"Please tell her for me to take good care of her injury. Also—Merry Christmas, not just to her, but to you too."
"Florin."
After reading the letter.
Dylan's mouth twitched.
He glanced at the letter.
It is a full half meter long.
Who can stand such nagging?
If it weren't for politeness, he wouldn't have been able to read a single word of such a long letter!
Poor Vera, having such a father.
But complaints are complaints.
Dylan can still understand Florin.
A middle-aged man.
One person manages an ice cream shop that looks like it could go bankrupt at any moment.
He has no connection with the family behind him.
My daughter is still going through her rebellious phase and is always going against me. She won't listen to anything I say.
They are not even by your side most of the time.
The buffs are all stacked up.
Is it possible for people not to become talkative?
"The key point is, if you want me to write a letter, at least give me a specific address, right? Am I supposed to guess it myself?"
Dylan had met Vera when she came to Hogwarts to investigate.
They had all received instruction from Professor Flitwick.
They did exchange contact information.
—That is, the address where the owl delivers the mail.
However, Florin also said that his daughter doesn't want to talk to him lately.
Moreover, he was injured while chasing Karthus.
Is Vera currently recuperating at the Ministry of Magic, or somewhere else?
How could he know?
and also
"He was injured while chasing someone who was impossible to catch."
Dylan sighed.
Karthus hasn't appeared for a while now.
The Ministry of Magic is keeping such a close eye on things.
what.
Are they not going to catch Sirius Black after his prison break?
How can you still spare the energy to deal with him?
Dylan pursed his lips.
I'm still planning to go ask Professor Flitwick later if I want to write to Vera. I can just send it to the address they exchanged last time.
Dylan stood there, having finished reading the letter, just as he was about to leave.
Suddenly a voice sounded from behind.
"Dylan."
It's Harry's voice.
Dylan turned around, looked at Harry who seemed nervous and inexplicably dejected, and tilted his head.
"What's wrong, Harry?"
"There's something that's about to make my head explode."
Dylan blinked.
"What could possibly set an explosive spell on your head?"
"no."
Harry looked around furtively.
"It's about what Professor McGonagall and the others were discussing this morning!"
Dylan nodded knowingly: "And then?"
“I don’t know if you’ll believe me, but I feel like you’re the only one I can ask about this,” Harry said hesitantly.
"About the map you gave me."
Harry's hands were clasped together.
"Why don't we go somewhere more secluded to talk?"
Dylan took a breath: "Okay, okay."
Harry pulled him to a corner of the corridor where there were hardly any people.
Now it was Dylan's turn to look around.
"Isn't this too remote?"
"Huh?" Harry glanced around. "I think this place is great."
Dylan's eyelashes fluttered twice.
Such a remote place seems like it's frequented by thrill-seeking young people.
Will they stumble upon some little wizard's passionate dance?
Even if not.
He was seen by others alone with Harry in such a remote place.
Who knows what rumors might spread about it?
After all, what kind of good person would be hiding in a corner with such a strong sense of guilt?
"Harry, what's wrong? You can tell me now, right?"
Harry nodded.
"Dylan, didn't you say that the Marauder's Map would record the names of everyone at Hogwarts?"
"correct."
As soon as Dylan heard Harry say that, he knew what Harry was going to ask.
