Chapter 461 Night Bearers: Hehe, Warp Demon, Little Cake, here I come!

Chapter 461 Night Bearers: Hehe, Warp Demon, Little Cake, here I come!

"Motalian ultimately chose Karna."

With the arrival of the Dark Angels and the shift in the defensive forces' offensive, they began to actively seek clashes with the invading forces. Even when facing the Tyranid swarm, an alien species never before seen, Lion quickly made the most appropriate countermeasures based on the available information and found a balance between resisting the Tyranid swarm's harassment of Alteramar and carrying out the annihilation of the Death Guard.

Faced with those rebellious worlds, the Dark Angels acted efficiently and systematically. They captured key military strongholds and executed all the leaders. It was a conquest, almost like the surrender campaigns during the Great Crusade.

Facing the demon world, they were well-prepared, and the First Legion was skilled in extermination operations. Their goal was to completely destroy the planet. Under the wrath of the dark angels, even the Nurgle demons, known for their survival skills among demons, naturally left behind enough survivors.

Fortunately, Llane's Caliban still exists. Those who have come to know the truth in the endless jungles of the warp will, in another world, once again, truly execute their traitorous brethren, and then keep watch over these demons, so that they may huddle together like ants, weeping and asking themselves why their great and benevolent father ultimately chose to abandon them.

The warbands and various corrupted demon worlds that had ravaged eastern Altera were instantly wiped out. Reality no longer gave Chaos the opportunity to further accumulate power, leaving it with no choice but to passively concentrate its strength for a final desperate attempt.

The strategic objectives of Dawnwing have now been achieved.

The lion sat cross-legged in the room left to him on the Glory Queen-class battleship 'Indomitable Truth', absorbing every bit of information from the battlefield. Thinking about the achievements he had made in less than a year, a subtle sense of pride welled up in his heart.

Even after ten thousand years, he still holds enough weight in the hearts of these traitorous brothers, which might even cause them to instinctively choose to avoid fighting him in battle.

Just like it was ten thousand years ago.

Everyone instinctively chose to avoid him. Whether they were loyalists or rebels, they were all afraid of his power and dared not cross his bottom line. They could only use lies and deception to confuse him.
Even after ten thousand years, he still—

'No, you can't think like that anymore.'

Upon realizing that arrogance was rising in his heart again, Ryan quickly shook his head.

Because he was truly deceived, by the lies of others and by his own arrogance, he made an irreparable mistake.

Ryan sighed.

He cannot make the same mistake again.

The chest expands, exhaling stale air.

Ryan snapped out of his brief meditation.

The helmet placed on the bedside table emitted a faint buzzing sound. After sitting up on the floor, he first grasped the Lion Sword, then grabbed the robe on the bed and covered the armor he had never taken off during the war.

This was a gift from the Wings of Dawn, delivered by Azrael upon his return to the Unyielding Truth. The outer robe was made of smooth, silky dark green fabric, with the First Legion's jet-black winged sword embroidered prominently on its chest. Inside were pieces of meticulously crafted, radiant gold, forged by Arthur, blessed with runes by Ramses, and inscribed with the emblem of honor by Romulus himself on behalf of the angels.

His gaze swept across the ground, inadvertently landing on the cipher text that would infuriate any male lion's offspring. Ryan secretly rejoiced that at least Ramses hadn't engraved these things on his armor when he left little Easter eggs all over the ship, before finally picking up his helmet.

His orders were being carried out step by step, and there was no imminent crisis. The lion took one last look at the stars hanging in the dark sky in the holographic projection, wondering if someone calling him at this moment meant that his plan or judgment had gone wrong.

He left his room and took the shortest route through the passage.

The Unyielding Truth differs slightly from other Glory Queens. It has a massive passageway about 28 kilometers long inside, connecting almost all sections of the warship. In those armories are some relics that have been considered extremely dangerous since the Old Night Era. Now marked by Romulus, they are all open and available for the Round Table Council to use as needed.

Whether we should be thankful or saddened, this warship remains the empire's most advanced combat force even after ten thousand years.

Walking among the bustling crowds, Ryan couldn't help but think subtly.

He subconsciously assessed the defensive capabilities of the entire route, while also memorizing all the layouts and terrain, as well as the information hidden behind these deployments. Most of the guards at the intersections and corners saluted as he strode forward, and one or two bowed and whispered to the Primarch, as if they were reciting a prayer.

The Dark Angel's combat structure is still based on the one used during the Ryan era, which makes him exceptionally easy to use.

However, it seems that because the Emperor is no longer around, or because the environment has truly changed, the Imperial Truth has not been followed. Things that the Emperor once forbade, such as AI and chaos magic, have become widespread within the Legion and are no longer taboo for the Legion, which is directly controlled by the Primarch.

Aside from the wonderful gadgets the Emperor had prepared for him, Ryan could see quite a few things among the six wings, such as spirit bone weapons, Terra mechanical sentinels, and demon engines—things that made his vision go black, things that, if pulled out during the Great Expedition, would allow him, his second brother, and his eleventh brother to sleep together.

Fortunately, Ryan is a pure pragmatist. With his brothers all being honest, decisive, and aware of their own nature, Ryan isn't so conservative as to completely abandon these things that are gradually turning into advantages for humanity.

Moreover, Dawnwing has been very measured in its application of this technology, never intending to popularize such absurd things, but instead keeping it firmly in its own hands, which has greatly reduced potential risks.

It is right not to believe in the morality of the imperial people.

The Legion now operates under a Round Table Council structure. Apart from the six wings, the other six are responsible for managing the various inner rings—not interfering in inner ring affairs, but focusing on controlling the psychological state of the various dark angels and organizing regular talks.

This left Ryan feeling bewildered, yet also subtly aware of something strange. These subtle changes ultimately shaped the legion that now felt both unfamiliar and familiar to him.

But in any case, there was a strange sense of warmth in walking on the bridge of an Imperial starship again and being treated with respect by the crew.

They learned his true past, knew he had made mistakes, but also knew he was a Dark Angel Primarch loyal to the Emperor.

That's enough for them.

Each victory proves that the Primarchs still have the ability to lead them to turn the tide, and combined with history, it also makes everyone realize that the Primarchs are not as flawless as imagined.

This, in turn, made them more accepting of the mistakes made by the Primarch.

"."

Ryan still couldn't understand where the Dawnwings got so much precise information. Although he could believe that given the personalities of these brothers, they certainly wouldn't choose to be bystanders, the precision was astounding, even revealing the psychological activities of the various Primarchs.

The pride he felt because of Perturabo's flattery, Guilliman's complaints to his foster mother after meeting the Dark Angel, and then the absurd choice the two made after thinking the Empire was doomed.

After repeatedly withstanding the rebels' sieges, Dorn's expectations of the two—whom he believed would never betray him—and his hopes for their timely support of Terra added a touch of dark humor to the farce.

After reviewing the entire Great Rebellion, no Primarch could have held back.

Ryan couldn't even imagine how he would face Dorn if they met again.

He quickly looked away from those gazes that had begun to make him feel somewhat ashamed.

He's too scared to face it now!

Currently, the 'Indomitable Truth' and the rest of the escort fleet are resting and repairing in the fortress world on the edge of the Sosa star system, replacing ships that need repair and scavenging for clues left behind on the battlefield, but a lion is a lion and is not content to wait with its hands behind its back.

After clearing out the various demon worlds and Chaos Warbands, they need to concentrate part of their fleet to support Koth. To achieve this goal, they also need to cross the now exceptionally turbulent warp waves.

In the realm of the gods, the corrupt and the ever-changing gods are clashing, fighting for their own interests, and the resulting subspace waves have caused many shipping lanes to be abandoned.

Fortunately, humanity, which has also embraced parts of the warp, has its own methods. At least while many planets can only passively defend themselves, Ryan can still protect a large enough fleet for a safe warp voyage.

Ryan had already been late once, so he actively sought to communicate with his brothers, hoping to catch up this time. On the bridge of the Unyielding Truth, Lion stepped through the ancient wooden doors adorned with frosted glass and took a breath. Besides the smell of disinfectant, he also detected a hint of terracotta, mixed with ozone emitted from the power armor's cooling system.

Azrael and Ryderos were chatting casually.

Usually, it's Azrael who asks the questions, and Ryderos who answers.

Azrael's questions are very sophisticated. He usually asks questions from a professional perspective, as if he were a learner, thus proving his own professional competence. This ever-blooming red rose may be thorny, but his passion cannot be denied.

During this process, Azrael is learning about and getting to know the dark angel he is talking to.

As a member who had experienced the more obsessive era of the Warband, he knew that changing someone's preconceived notions was difficult, but that did not prevent a leader from understanding his subordinates.

He is truly a qualified battle group commander.

Ryan couldn't help but admire.

Aside from being slightly weaker in combat, Azrael is comparable to figures like Khoswayne, and even during the Great Crusade, such a person would not be unknown.

"Azrael".

Trying not to look at the apprentices beside the judges, he came to the edge of the throne on the bridge.

There are two thrones, one on the left and one on the right, arranged in a crossed posture. In the center stands a golden statue of the emperor, which gleams brightly. The reverence many people show him as if it were a religion makes him feel quite awkward.

Then there were the other dark angels, those who had recently been attacked in Caliban, instinctively adopting a wary posture, even if they didn't intend to do so.

The lion stopped in its tracks.

His first thought was that he disdained to speak with these cowardly, beast-like offspring.

But such thinking is not good.

The lion nodded to the dark angels, revealing its harmlessness, and then asked Azrael a question.

"Has the fleet resupply been completed?"

"Sir, I'm afraid we won't be able to provide support for the time being."

Azrael quickly retrieved a record of the attack.

Ryan took a closer look.

This is a record of an attack on a sacred planet located near Sosa.

The planet has been attacked by an unknown life form.

The port disintegrated the moment it came into contact with it, and the near-ground defenses were breached in seconds.

However, the local bishop was a devout believer who quickly organized the surviving residents into the shrine at the outset of the attack, and then guided the Emperor's power to repel the unknown enemy as it stormed into the shrine.

"."

After reading the report, Ryan glanced back at the Imperial Statue and suddenly realized that it wasn't so strange after all.

He asked, "The Night Bearers?"

"Yes, according to the investigation by local psionicists, all living things in the attacked port, including electronic devices, showed a state of unresponsiveness as if they were dead. The ability to implant non-existent death into anything is indeed likely the work of the Star God."

Azrael nodded.

It's good to have the Eldar and Necrons, these real veterans, joining us.

Although the time travelers had some knowledge of various secrets, when it came to professional issues, the people in the high-dimensional black library, whose mathematical abilities were still incomprehensible, naturally had no means of reference.

The Necromancers in space are different from the Eldar.

Leaving aside the Eldar's Black Library, although the Necromancers have suffered severe technological losses, their history has not been interrupted, especially since Talazin is still on their side.

They possess a wealth of information about these extraordinary beings, which allows humanity to gain a clearer understanding of the enemy they are about to face.

The Night Bearer, literally the god of death, has the ability to stop all matter from moving.

Ryan nodded thoughtfully.

He remembered that holy world; the fleet hadn't been passing through there for very long.

Ryan quickly analyzed the other party's ability to acquire information and their faster-than-light ability by using the time difference in his mind. He pondered for a moment, then spoke.

"Is it targeting me?"

"Yes."

Azrael replied, "The Star God seems to have mastered some unknown individual faster-than-light means, and it could come at any time."

"Put the fortress world into a state of emergency, activate the Void Shield to its maximum capacity, and concentrate the rest of the fleet on me."

Ryan gave the order quickly.

The fortress world's defenses are reliable, but based on the destructive power displayed by the enemy fleet, Ryan still feels it's safer for the fleet to stay close to him.

He turned his head to look at the Emperor's statue again and said, "Remember to have the Fortress World Organization have devout believers, and use the churches that enshrine the Emperor as the core defensive facilities."

"clear."

Azrael accepted the order and departed.
